Alex Martin bets out 4,500 into 6,000 pot. He has 35,000 back. Wide range of hands possible here, but safe to assume he has a decent part of it

Lady player has 20,000. A limp with a marginal hand is certainly uncharacteristic, but then again I have not seen her slow-play a big one pre-flop either


Flat call here (hoping Lady has overpair) or raise to get rid of a diamond draw or two pair?...ie whatever Alex has.

If you raise I suppose you telegraph your hand....



 

No need to raise here, let her make the move if she has the hand, Alex probably has nothing, he thinks the flop missed the limper and that the BB is super tight and won't play when not closing the action. In Alex's seat i lead with pretty much any 2, the hands i don't lead with are flush draws! So in my eyes there is little danger of being outdrawn here.

I think flat calling is the best play with your hand there tighty. Its what i would have done 90% of the time. Your hand is big enough to induce her all-in bet if you think (like i did when she dwelled up) that she has medium pair 88/99.
But then again the pot was big enough to take down with no aggro.

I personally think Kev's call for 70% of his chips with Q8s was a tad loose, but i could be wrong. Ur thoughts?

I rate Kev (not our Kev!!!) highly, particularly he is a good reader of situations and has great instincts.

I am short stack with 5 left and have 44 on the button into his BB. I can't raise to fold, so have to stick it in esp with 9,000 in blinds coming thick and fast every round

His call with Q8 is brave, but he correctly read that I would be making a standard raise with a stronger hand and he was clearly playing for the win. I've seen worse. The way it played out was a bit sickening though. Standard!

Chopped with Kev HU. Matt made a move on me with 79o when i nicked his BB with KK. Got me to 100k, then Sophie bluffed off her stack to me.

Personally, i think his call was very bad v your 44 hand. He has enough chips for this to be a clear fold. If you can recall the hand i would love you to post it as i'd like some more views on it.

Alex will be convinced you are on the flush draw and call off all his remaining chips ;)

Also, if you think "tight lady" has medium pair - put her to the test.

If you flat call here and a pic card or ace comes on the turn, this will scare away "tight lady" with medium pair.

Those are my thoughts.

Alex may well have a stab (what am I saying,, he WILL have a stab) on the flop but once you call, I dont think he will have another go at it.

Would you not pass a mid pair if tighty raised here on the flop? Is she not more likely to raise if you just flat call?
