Title: another ruling please
Post by: _Hectic_ on September 28, 2005, 10:52:02 AM
The big blind looks at his hand and acts first and folds. Someone says your big blind its not on you, can he take his hand back and play it or is the hand folded. Have had this twice in the last 2 weeks at a local club were i play. Both times they were allowed to play their hands.

do a google search for the TDA rules. These will give you a good guideline to work with.

I see this all the time, and to my annoyance they are usually allowed to keep their cards.  Does tend to lead to a pre flop raise by someone ;)

Another pet hate that people get away with is that they are allowed to play their hand when they are away from the table if they are sitting down by the time the UTG player acts.  In the card room where I play their hand should be dead if they aren't in their seats by the time their second card is dealt.

every casino i've been in has the rule that the hand is dead if bum is not on seat when last card is dealt

i thought your hand is only folded once action arrives at you if you're not at the table.... but then again I'm far from a TD and haven't read the rules!!

One more question for ruling - bit of a bizarre question, but are you allowed to show your cards to players who are in a pot with you before the river bets are over?

I read somewhere that you can you show your hand in some cash games but it is definately a no no in tournaments.

OK cheers.  That's what someone told me at a home game - couldn't believe it, cos it's only to the other player's advantage... strange rule, but fair enough.... cheers.

you are allowed in most casinos to expose your hand but to someone in a pot with you i'm not sure, though i doubt it (collusion rules etc.)
