i know different places have different rules but wondering on wot peoples take on this is

live cash game last night blinds £1 £1, 5 limpers i check my SB wit A6off. flop  6c 6s Qc. no need for me to slow play on the table im on so bet out £5, BB and button call. turn  Ad. (side question, how do u play the hand now??)

i decided to check as did the SB, the button bets £10. i flat call, but as the BB thinks about it, the dealer puts the river out

wot happens now?? the BB hasnt acted on the turn. is his hand now dead? can he call knowing wot the river is going to be?? wot happened was the dealer said he could still call, but a new river card comes out, which is the 3rd card from the bottom of the deck. in the confusion the BB decided not to call but a new river card was put out anyway. the initial river was  7h. the new river (which i was praying wasnt going to be a queen, but was hoping for a club) was  9h.

i had planned to check the river to try and induce a bet from the button but cos of the confusion i just bet out and the button folded. was a shame cos i wanted the BB in the hand as he had  Qd Kd

It varies from place to place, usually 3rd from bottom or the card gets shuffled back in (much better IMO, that card should have a chance to come out again)

The dealer has "exposed" a card - the fact that this would of been the river is irrelevant.

Still a player to act, so now they can act and the river is 3rd from the bottom

It's one of the rules that pisses me off, the card should always be shuffled back in as the BB has extra knowledge before he makes his call that the other players didn't have.

Generally you should continue to bet out. Anyone with a queen or a flush draw may well just check here, which loses you a betting opportunity.

More importantly though, betting out big with a strong hand is often the best way to disguise the strength of your hand. Most good full-handed cash players rarely ever check/raise pre-river (other than with a set against a pre-flop raiser who can't lay down big pairs.) However, it's a move that poor/inexperienced players love to use (probably because it's a common move in Limit cash- or maybe because they see players check/raising in tournaments on TV and think it's "cool") which is great because it nearly always means "I've got a monster" and it allows you to get away from the hand as cheaply as possible.

Also, betting out gives you a greater chance of keeping in a player or two, with say KQ, because they don't know how others behind them will act. Whereas if you check, and allow others behind to check to the last position then either he checks too (not what you want) or he bets. Once you call this bet then any marginal hand (e.g. KQ) is very unlikely to call because they are fearful of the player behind them who has called.
