The usual massacre has ensued and they're dropping like Flemmings (that's a cross between a fly and a lemming by the way).

Early exiters include Spencer Lawrencem Axel HErbst and one of the few remaining female players remaining (only Katja Thater springs to mind at this very moment), Annica Ivert.

Meanwhile, Dave Gregory and Juha Helppi have both doubled up, the latter all-in with Nines versus the Pocket Tens of Mikael Westerlund, hitting quads to survive. That's handy.

After folding, Rossi revealed Big Slick.

On the same table, shortstacked Bjorn Erik Suhr has bitten the dust, his desperation all-in button move with Q-x being called by Swedish sensation Ramzi Jelassi's T-7.

9-K-8-J-3 board was pretty emphatic.

According to Dave Welch, Farid Meraghni has become a one man wrecking crew, taking out three tablemates (well, enemies, not mates) already. Two of them were Tomas Alenius and Soren Kongsgaard Nielsen.

With the Nielsen hand, Dave Welch raised it up, Nielsen moved all-in and Meraghni called. Dave got out the way and looked on as Nielsen showed Q-J to Meraghni's A-Q. Jack on the flop gave him some hope, but the dark destroyer made a flush on the River.

Not every hand's all-in bedlam though, sometimes two big stacks clash, as was the case with Mark Petersen and Jakub Wisniewski.

After pre-flop action (I believe Mark was the initial raiser), Jakub bet 10k onto a 2c 9h Tc board only to be check-raised by Mark who moved all-in. A long dwell from the Pole eventually saw him make the fold, but he didn't seem too happy about being put to a decision for all his chips, especially when he started with so many.

Irish player Andrew O'Flaherty appears to be a bit of a character. I don't know if our Irish viewers can shed any more light, but he certainly likes to chat. I recall a bit of banter with Norseman manager Rolf Woods standing out, the latter saying he was 1/8th Irish. Andrew then went on to flirt with the Polish dealer.

Speaking of O'Flaherty, I just saw him by the entrance looking at the information board, which either means he's returning from the loo and has forgotten where his sitting in a tikay-esque senior moment, or, and somewhat more probably, he's OUT.

There are currently 71 players remaining. We are about to move onto Level 11, where the blinds will be 800/1600(200).

Karl Mahrenholz is surviving, but onyl just, his last move being an all-in on a 5d 9s Jh. Of course, the gift of the gab was on full display. Whether his opponent's fold is what he wanted though, I am still unsure.

The fabulously named Michael Van Putten Due has taken one of the those metamorphising potions and transformed into Henning Granstad, or he could be out. I think it's 50/50.

Speaking of Henning, he's been getting into a few tussles, first hand, it's his big blind and Paul Kristoffersson raises and Henning calls, then check/raises Paul's 8k bet to 20k on the 3d 9d 5d board getting his fellow scandie to pass.

A few hands later and Paul raises again, called by Henning on the button and Age Spets in the small blind.

Remember when I mentioned that Priyan De Mel thought he was due an outdraw after several failed attempts in previous comps? Well, he's just had it. K-Q against Aces, all-in pre-flop. Turn and River came K and Q. Fortunately, another player folded an 8 and an 8 Flopped.

Essex's Dave Welch has also doubled up, this time with Tens vs. and under the gun raiser's A-Q. Ten hit the Flop and it was party time.

Dave now up to 31k, straight from the horse's mouth.

If we're going to see 'big pot' fireworks, it'll most likely derive from this table, and in particular, this pairing who are both right up there with the chip leaders, Thomas Mathiesen on the left actually leading the pack with 108k.

In fact, I know a little about Thomas. According my source, he isn't short of a few bob, owning the successful site rakerebate.com. Anyone heard of it? Anyhow, he doesn't play too often, his last outing I believe being almost 2 years ago. I don't detect too much rust though.

And not too far behind them is amicable Norwegian player, Henning 'Granismo' Granstad.

A shortstacked Priyan De Mel survives a 50-50. All-in under the gun with 7d 7h, the Brit was called by Ac Js, but lives to fight another day come the 2s 5c 4c 4s Th board.

Elesewhere, Simon Kelly, who was down to just 1,700 last night after having his Aces cracked by Queens which flopped Quads, has managed to come back up up to 23.7k now. Just having pushed with J-7 and getting called by A-2 and rivering on the A-J-T-4-7 board.

Patric Martensson just cracked Aces. He called a raise from the big blind after there was a MP raise and a button call. The flop was Ks Td 2d and he bet out and, finding the original raiser pushing and the button folding, called the all-in with his Kh Th against the Ahrt Aspades. No help for the Aces on the 6d or 3d river.

Ramzi Jelassi just lost an 80k pot with T-T vs 8-8 when an 8 spiked the flop.

No sign of Ben Grundy I'm afraid, so it looks like he's a gonna.

His former table, meanwhile, has just been broken up, which means we're down to just the bottom section of the cardroom.

And with that move, I was provoked into a quick look at the screen - 58 left.

One tough table holds Henning Granstad, Age Spets, Kjata Thater and Dortmund victor, Andreas Hoivold.

Just as I run down (I felt like a reverse Rocky), I spot Simon Kelly approaching in the opposite direction, which signalled the 15 minute break.

I did get a story though. Apparantly Simon has been watching Thewy too much as he went down to 11k (a rock re-raised his K-Q), before doubling up to 26k with A-Q vs. A-J.

Simon told me that the guy who took a 50k pot off him last night when his Aces were busted, came up to him and said, "Oh look, you've got more chips than me now."

I'll ask when they return and get the info for you. It's hard to get everything because our media room is two floors up (my calves are like rods of steel now).  :)

Okay. Battle of the blinds. Your man had T-9 of Hearts Flop came 7-2-9 with one heart. He bet, neighbour raised, Priyan called. Turn came 6 of hearts, Priyan moved all-in and was called by A-9o. No help.

Meanwhile, Jim lost out to former chip leader Thomas Mathiesen with Nines (utg raises) vs. Aces (re-raised in late position). I say former, because Thomas is apparantly a bit of a maniac, and although he had over 100k only 20-30 mins ago, he is now dramatically OUT after dishing out his chips left right and centre. "He was raising for fun this guy, with any two cards, and I thought I can't fold to him again, so pushed. Can't believe he had Aces," commented a disappointed Jim.

More on Dave Welch's exit....

The Essex lad grabbed me on his way out of the cardroom. He was very flustered and was talking of an injustice. According to Dave, he moved all-in with Queens, only to be called by Tens. But as the guy was calling, he also turned over his hand with people still to act. Instead of the hand being dead, play was allowed to continue and the board was dealt out. Although Dave tried to stop play, claiming that the Tens should be dead, the board was dealt out and Dave was left dazed (or should that be daved) and confused when his opponent somehow managed to fluke a gutshot straight with a nine hitting the Turn.

After the hand, the player received a ten minute penalty for revealing his hand prematurely, whilst Dave was left to exit stage left in a fit of rage. It's a terrible rule, but apparantly it's the correct one. Not sure how the penalty helps Dave out though. I think it's going to take him a while to calm down to be honest, he really wasn't very happy and for those who know how charismatic Dave is, you can imagine how vocal he was about it.

"He's mad that lad," added Dave Gregory. "I spotted him standing on his chair whilst mulling up a decision at one point."

What does everyone else think about how that penalty is dealt with?

If his hand is dead surely he cant call and the pot would be won preflop. However having seen the 10s surely he wants the chance to double up with queens.
As for the penalty surely thats to teach him a lesson about poker etiquette although he might have thought those still to act had passed and was revealing his hand for the showdown.

Thomas Mathiesen was on my starting table yesterday and from what I saw was a more than competent player.  He and the guy next to him (who played relentlessly aggressively and I think I heard was busted in stages by the calculatedly aggressive Thomas as they fought the large stacks back and forth) got a lot of chips comparative to the table in like the 4th level, and that made the whole thing much more difficult with a short stack.  I think people should be happy he only plays every two years...

Rumour has it that Simon Young lost a big pot before being forced to move his tiny stack in with 9-2. He came up against two sets of King Queens, which wasn't bad considering, especially when the Flop came Q-2-2.

I mentioned earlier that Andrew O'Flaherty was hanging around the rail and could be out, but he was indeed taking a few minutes break. And to prove he's still in (although it's not really concrete proof to be honest), here is with his 26k stack, still plugging away for the Irish.

In this picture I took of him a few minutes ago, it looks as though he has around the 140k mark.

Rolf Woods is OUT. Desposed of by next door neighbour and fellow Norwegian, Henning Granstad, Fours v Aces, no help.

Priyan De Mel has busted Simon Kelly with A-J vs 3-3 on a J-8-5-J-8 board.

Elsewhere Katja made, according to Dave Welch, an 'instant call' that doubled her up. Age Spets limped the button, Katja made up and then Ramzi moved all-in. Age passed and Katja called all-in with A-4, not just slightly ahead, but way ahead of Ramzi's K-4, and it remained so on an A-7-T-Q-3 board.

Mark Petersen bluffed his entire stack to Patric Martesson, on a Kd 4d 4h Jh 2c board. Having aggressively bet all streets, Mark moved in for around 50k or so on the river, and Patric eventually made the call with Kh Qd and was shown...5c 3h.

Patric has 170k and is now sitting to the left of Peter Jespen, the chip leader. Ole Gammeljord (on the right here with Patric), is also on this table with a whole lotta chips.

Finally Rolf Woods is OUT, Henning Granstad pushed from the small blind and Rolf called with 4-4 and a very short stack. Henning had Aces though...

This is the empy seat of Thomas Osmun, he's just got a 10 minute penalty for accidentally exposing his cards after calling a river bet with Qc Ts on a Queen high board. There was still a player to act, who ended up folding anyway. Even worse, Thomas still lost the pot to Aspades Qh.

Big bang of the table (and I mean big, I wouldn't like to have been the table) from Andrew O'Flaherty. Paul Kristoffersson raised it up from the cut-off, only for Farid Meraghni to flat call from the small blind and Andrew to push from the big.

"He's got A-Q minimum," observes Dave Welch.

Anyhow, 32k more to call, and although Paul folded, Farid calls fearlessly, happy to reveal his A-3.

And, of course, Dave was right, Andrew had nothing less than A-Q, revealing A-Q of clubs as he banged the table in an adrenalin pumping moment.

Board = 4c Qs 2h 2d 9d and Andrew bangs the table once again. Meanwhile, the laid back Frenchman, who I believe is a high stakes cash player on PokerStars (what Europeans aren't?!?!), just shrugs his shoulders.

With 26 players left, it's becoming increasingly difficult to get anywhere near the tables, mainly because so many random spectators are going through the rail. This in turn makes it more crowded, resulting in the TD becoming pissed off and ordering everyone out. However, John Conroy and Priyan De Mel's table is right next to the rail, so this is the one I have been observing with a keen eye.

Whilst John has been quietly plugging away (he has 69k), Priyan De Mel has become a frequent participant in pots, including two recent all-ins. The first was against his neighbour, who separates the Irishman from the Brit, when Priyan was virtually forced to call and all-in re-raise with 9c 7c. Incredibly, his opponent had a dominating hand in Td 7d, which became even more controlling once the Flop came 9d Tc 6s. An Ace on the Turn and a Five on the River and Priyan had taken a slight knock that brought him back down to 63k.

But jovial and confident as ever, Priyan was back in the thick of things a few minutes later, finding himself all-in with cowboys against Pocket Snowmen. A Queen high Flop resulted in a clenched fist, a quiet "Yes" and the stacking of a nice jumble of chips.

And wow, the bubble has been burst before we can put up a MC Hammer picture!

The forever smiling Age Spets, isn't really smiling now. The other short stack on his table pushed and Age called with A-Q and found himself up against 8-5.

With 11 players left, the atmosphere has turned from hectic to tense, as perhaps players have started to realise how serious things are getting and that every move is a serious and potentially expensive one. For that reason maybe, play has slowed down, although just a tad, and we're starting to see more flops.

Seemingly unaware that Farid had made the call, predominantly because he holds his cards behind his stack, Katja revealed her hand, Qs Jd.

The hand will continue but she was given a ten minute penalty if she were to survive.

Moaning Katja commented, "He's always hiding his cards, I couldn't see!", but her cries fells her stoney ground.

A quick word on this hand...

Yes, it's as silly as you think it is and Dennis will be kicking himself for a very long time.

No side-pot and he knows he's beat already, so why he moved all-in I'll never know. I can perhaps understand a small bet to try and lure some chips off Farid, but even then I'm not sure it's worth it.

Real fist in mouth moment for the Swede who, quite honestly, has a face like a smacked bottom.

Something that I've learned this week is that Floppy has a real way with the ladies. Everytime I go down into the cardroom, he's watching the action and chatting away to a young girl - a different one each time!

And that's your lot, word on the grapevine is that Dennis Bejedal has bitten the dust.
