I've never though of that before, but it's so true. One of the things that I most liked about the winter when I was a kid was the fact that the horse racing on the telly finished earlier. Me and my brothers would get annoyed that we couldn't watch the football scores on the TV because my dad wanted to watch the racing from Newmarket, which didn't finish until after 5. In the winter, the TV racing is all done by 3, so we could watch Ceefax whilst my dad was asleep on the sofa. As for scaring the kids ...
