no as its been superseeded by supersystem 2

the authors have already said super system is out of date

I've read reviews about Supersystem 2 saying it's more about self-aggrandizement than poker playing - it was the reviewers opinion but it rang true.

if i knew what that meant i might agree with it

but i would wait till you hear from the readers of the books before buying a book that predates the internet boom

Good point - anybody read both?

Is the second one a sequel or an update?

I think that's massive value for the best poker book ever written.

I dont think SS2 is better, it's just appropriately different/updated to incorporate the internet and increasing preponderance of TAGS.

I agree..they ae both cracking reads and if you pick anything up from SS1 (and you will) it's worth a 5'er. get it you'll be glad you did.

Why not wait until "Super System Begins" comes out? It's a prequel to SS1.

When I frist got it, I thought it was very similar and 70% the same. After reading through it, there's a lot of new stuff, new sections and new authors. Something like 20% the same! The cotnets and chapter headings etc are easier to understand in SS2. Eg in SS1 it takes about 3/4 of a page to have the contents of a 600 page book, and each chapter title begins, super/system's power poker course in .... SS2 has 7.5 pages of contents for a 650 page book. SS2 if much better! SS1 is worth £5 to have in your collection but I wouldn't bother reading it ;)

:D WH Smiths - but you'd have to be quick.

Basically I've been tipped off that the books are stamped £19.99 but it's barcode is programmed for £4.98. I don't think the £19.99 is a mistake so this might get fixed, but as long as it hasn't been by opening time today I should be alright.

If I understand you right you mean - you wouldn't recommend it, but for a fiver you might as well buy it anyway? I have to look after the pennies, so I think this is the way to go. :)

Could download the first and see if you like it before you buy a hard copy.

Yeah, if your looking for a book to read for some good advice put your £5 towards SS2 or Harrington on hold em (if you play tournament poker). Personally I have to have the bible on my shelf, so that's why I'd say get it. But it will takes ages to read, so I'd invest that time in lots of other books 1st.

I have some Phil Helmuth books for sale. They are in great condition so I would be looking for at least £0.04 for the lot. (Actually lost money following his advice).
Also in my collection, best offer wins:
'Chinese Lucky numbers and why they are totally irrelevant in poker'
'Disrupting opponents' thought processes by Jedi Mind trick technology' by Boldie
'I'd rather be lucky than good but this is ridiculous' by Ali
'Outdrawing: An expert's guide' G.Bandit
'Being Outdrawn: An expert's guide' B.Fett.
'Outplaying ridiculously tight players' by J. Larsson
