Title: AA eh? Post by: TightPaulFolds on March 22, 2007, 12:04:16 AM AA hmm. Look down and I think yey, here we go. God the despair when you put in that miniscule raise around the bubble and even the blinds fold. You come like third or fourth and think 'if only I'd limped in with it.' Presuming you can read flop onwards well enough to know when your AA is cracked, what circumstances do you allow slow playing AA KK late in a tourney (near bubble and beyond). Will you let 3-4+ in and hope to trap? Even if you have a tight image I don't know many on the blinds that will fold Ax, pair or SuitedConn against a min raise.

If I'm on the Button or the cut off then I almost always raise with AA or KK. The only time I wouldn't do it is if I am up against someone who likes to defend their big blind and views limpers with the contempt they deserve ;D Also it depends on the last few hands. There is nothing more suspicious than a serial raiser who suddenly wants to limp in when it's been folded round to him on the button. He might as well put a big Neon sign up saying "I HAVE ACES" Sometimes the best way to disguise a big hand is to just go ahead and raise with it. Also there is nothing worse than limping with KK and a bloody ace comes out on the flop. Title: Re: AA eh? Post by: TightPaulFolds on March 22, 2007, 08:22:27 PM good advice, cheers. Last time it happened to me live was at a crucial money stage. Small blind was quite the maniac, second only to the big blind, I thought a min raise would be like a red rag kind of thing, I was stunned as they chucked it. I've seen them raise with T2o, so it must have been *really* bad.

I am actually more inclined to overbet with Aces pre-flop just to make people think I'm nicking the blinds or have a small pocket pair that I could fold if someone pushes all-in. Title: Re: AA eh? Same here in fact I probably should limp more with AA as I almost never do it so anyone who plays with me over a period of time will probably pick up on this. I just hate it when you limp with AA and you are sitting there willing someone, anyone to raise it but you get 6 callers and flop comes something like 6 7 8 all same suit or T T 5. You just don't know where you are when folk start betting at you Title: Re: AA eh? Post by: boldie on March 24, 2007, 03:38:01 PM good advice, cheers. You just don't know where you are when folk start betting at you I reckon it's not so much about limping with aces but varying your betsizes. this will throw enough people off. One of the main reasons for betting first with aces for me is not soo much a pot building excersize or even getting worse hands to fold. I want people to come over the top of me and getting all their chips in the middle. Title: Re: AA eh? Post by: TightPaulFolds on March 24, 2007, 06:55:48 PM good advice, cheers. Post by: AlexMartin on March 27, 2007, 01:12:22 PM I would never advise minimum raising with aces unless the table is loco. Round the back put in your standard raise and hope a serial mover is there to ram and jam it.
