Title: Free Movies and Documentaries Post by: Acidmouse on March 22, 2007, 09:44:46 AM Recently I have been searching for and watching documentaries online because they are just so damn interesting. I came across the site http://www.jonhs.net/freemovies/documentaries.htm (http://www.jonhs.net/freemovies/documentaries.htm) which is great because it is basically an index of all types of free documentaries, TV shows, movies, and animations that can be found on YouTube and elsewhere. This should keep me occupied for the next few weeks or months when I need something to watch.

2 scuffles caused by Germans attacking English fans and loads of loutish behaviour you see in every town centre on a saturday night and the BBC manage to make an hours programme out of it and attempt to make a mountain out of a molehill as per usual. In the documentaries section I can highly recommend: Baraka - essentially just footage of society across the world, but with such brilliant cimematography that it's riveting. Century of the Self - the history of the growth of the consumer society. Power of Nightmares - story of the rise of radical Islamism and the American neo-conservatives, and how they're fighting for the same thing. Spin - some guy recorded the raw footage from satellite broadcasts of politicians being interviewed, getting all the before and after stuff not intended for broadcast. Very revealing as to how our perception of the world through TV is controlled. Adam Curtis (who made both Century of the Self and Power of Nightmares) has a new programme on BBC2 on Sunday nights called The Trap, which has managed to absolutely hit the nail on the head when it comes to explaining the growing social problems we have in this country at the moment (though few others seems to have noticed this, as far as I can see). If it gets repeated I would strongly suggest you watch it.
