Title: Are there any kind souls out there ?
Post by: Muahahahaha on March 22, 2007, 04:21:36 PM
I've just managed to qualify for the 100k on Mansion.

This game is well out of my class, but I thought the satallites were cheap, so I had a pop at it.  Now I don't know what to do.

I'm a 10c/20c cash game player.  I play $5 & $10 sngs.  & I mess around on cheap MTTs for a laugh ( $1 - $10 freezeouts ).

Anyone got any ideas how to approach this ?

( & you lot can stop laughing - I'm serious here  :dontask: )

Give it a go....Your best shot..... Dont believe for one minute that it is above your level....Make notes on people at the tables.....When its finished review your performance, think what you would/could/should of done different and remember for next time.

You have qualified from a sat, and many others will of as well, so they will be about the same level...There will be people who are relly good players, thats got to do with the amazing value of the overlay...

FFS Dont knock me out......

PS Best of Luck..

Just play it the same way you play multis at the moment, don't overthink things too much, never play scared. You will have a lot more clue than a lot of the players in there.

not sure about mansion but other sites you can withdraw and use the funds for smaller buy in events

but i am asuming mansion doest allow this

now i am simliar level to you and in the past i used to use sats winnings to play the bigger events once finishing 37th in the stars biggie my aproach is to sit back wait for hands trying to keep your stack around average when you get near the bubble is the time to start moving gears as people sit back ,dont be scared of bubbling remember you got in this cheap. after the bubble bursts people will be trying to get chips dont enter teh pot without a hand then look to pick on the smaller stacks
evertime a new ladder rung in the pay aproaches you can open up again but always try an pick on smaller stacks remember you will lose alot of hands your favourite in its therefore better to lose to smaller stacks cause it only takes one badbeat against a bigger stack for you to go out

most of all have fun

Avoid looking at the payouts. It'll spook you.

They pay the top 54, that's all you need to know.
Once you're in the money, imagine they pay the top 9 only. The blinds will be large, if you get short, don't be afraid to chuck them in with any two in an open pot.

Don't be put off, paying $100 for a tourney is out of my league too and I'm loving playing the comp, especially as I've cashed twice :D

It's not out of your league, just enjoy it and play your usual game.  There's plenty of loose players that will pay you off with not a lot :D

Good luck see you there :)

The blinds arfe very good and there is no need to play marginal hands early on, just sitback and wait for premium ones. My main advice really would be to forget your overall ranking in the tourney and focus your attention on the average chip stack and play according to that. Other than that just enjoy it, the standard really isnt that good just because its a higher buy in and im sure you will do fine.

All the breast!
