Title: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: The Camel on March 23, 2007, 07:09:25 PM You are playing on pokerstars, you make a nut straight on the turn.
You make a small bet and an aggressive opponent raises. Do you think it is an acceptable tactic to use some of your time balance before you call or raise... or is it a moody? Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: totalise on March 23, 2007, 07:11:21 PM its perfectly ok and a very valid tactic.
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: KingPoker on March 23, 2007, 07:11:41 PM use it!
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Karabiner on March 23, 2007, 07:17:09 PM Isn't that what the time bank is for, to use when you see fit ?
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Ironside on March 23, 2007, 07:27:53 PM your time bank to use as you see fit
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: AdamM on March 23, 2007, 07:31:45 PM ofcourse. you want to make sure he doesnt smell too much strength and bets the river too. dwelling up for an all in call on the river isn't nice though
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: doubleup on March 23, 2007, 07:32:20 PM Its ok - but if a good (ie the likes of you) did it my cards would be in the muck soooo fast
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: JungleCat03 on March 23, 2007, 07:38:01 PM definitely ok.
Apart from anything else, you have a decision to make. Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: The Camel on March 23, 2007, 07:41:39 PM Some guy just turned the chat box blue when I used this tactic on him... really surprised me.
Then I came to thinking...was I being moody? I remember the Vic used to have a rule, if you thought about a decison for more than 15 seconds (it might have been 30 seconds) you couldn't raise. I used to think that was a terrible rule, but it follows the same principle. Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: KingPoker on March 23, 2007, 07:43:39 PM That Vic Rule is absolutely ridiculous, of course its fine and that huy who went mad was just pissed coz he got outplayed!!
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Pokerron on March 23, 2007, 07:43:48 PM Anyone who thinks for ages and then reraises is doing their opponent a favour in my opinion.
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Ironside on March 23, 2007, 07:50:40 PM didnt aces do this on the river at wsop this year with the nut flush ? getting a call from barry greenstein with 2nd nuts
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Ironside on March 23, 2007, 07:51:14 PM come to think about it i think it was 2005
Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: totalise on March 23, 2007, 07:52:09 PM didnt aces do this on the river at wsop this year with the nut flush ? getting a call from barry greenstein with 2nd nuts yeah, its the trumper effect. You dont wanna be doing this with nut hands on the river, its perfect to do it with bluffs though. On the turn its a different story. Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Pokerron on March 23, 2007, 07:52:41 PM See, he was doing him a favour. Maybe I should send BG a note to add in his next book ;)

Good to know Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Pokerron on March 23, 2007, 07:58:20 PM Also good to know that you will be doing it against me without the nuts, I'll call to keep you honest from now on....

Post by: TightPaulFolds on March 23, 2007, 08:42:45 PM I dwell up for a bit, but not so long as to make it suspicious. Like to keep my time bank for when I really need it anyhow.
Using disconnect protects to go artificially all-in, that's another matter altogether lol. Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Div on March 23, 2007, 09:27:39 PM Some guy just turned the chat box blue when I used this tactic on him... really surprised me. Nothing surprises me anymore in the chat box. Poker is a microcosm of the real world, and there seems to be an ever growing percentage of the general populace ill deserving of the oxygen they squander each day. You didn't do anything wrong Keith, so don't let him bother you. Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: Graham C on March 24, 2007, 12:11:25 AM If I have the nuts and he's all in or putting me all in, I'm instacalling. No point in waiting in my opinion. If he's (or she's) leaving chips behind, I'd think about it a bit to try and get them on the river.
Don't mind people dwelling on it, it's personal choice and I appreciate that. Title: Re: Dwelling up with the nuts.. Post by: bhoywonder on March 24, 2007, 02:11:28 AM I have a tell on a player in the home game, when he dwells and re raises he has the nuts...its that simple
kinda funny folded a losing 2 pair to him once and showed,he did have better!! but still he does it..i aint telling him his tell..lol |
