You make a small bet and an aggressive opponent raises.

Do you think it is an acceptable tactic to use some of your time balance before you call or raise... or is it a moody?

ofcourse. you want to make sure he doesnt smell too much strength and bets the river too. dwelling up for an all in call on the river isn't nice though

Some guy just turned the chat box blue when I used this tactic on him... really surprised me.

Then I came to thinking...was I being moody? I remember the Vic used to have a rule, if you thought about a decison for more than 15 seconds (it might have been 30 seconds) you couldn't raise.

I used to think that was a terrible rule, but it follows the same principle.

That Vic Rule is absolutely ridiculous, of course its fine and that huy who went mad was just pissed coz he got outplayed!!

Anyone who thinks for ages and then reraises is doing their opponent a favour in my opinion.

yeah, its the trumper effect. You dont wanna be doing this with nut hands on the river, its perfect to do it with bluffs though. On the turn its a different story.

See, he was doing him a favour.  Maybe I should send BG a note to add in his next book ;)

So all i have to do when playing you then is take really long to bluff and you fold very time. Good to know

I dwell up for a bit, but not so long as to make it suspicious. Like to keep my time bank for when I really need it anyhow.
Using disconnect protects to go artificially all-in, that's another matter altogether lol.

Nothing surprises me anymore in the chat box. Poker is a microcosm of the real world, and there seems to be an ever growing percentage of the general populace ill deserving of the oxygen they squander each day.

You didn't do anything wrong Keith, so don't let him bother you.

If I have the nuts and he's all in or putting me all in, I'm instacalling.  No point in waiting in my opinion.   If he's (or she's) leaving chips behind, I'd think about it a bit to try and get them on the river.

Don't mind people dwelling on it, it's personal choice and I appreciate that.

I have a tell on a player in the home game,when he dwells and re raises he has the nuts...its that simple

kinda funny


folded a losing 2 pair to him once and showed,he did have better!!


but still he does it..i aint telling him his tell..lol
