Title: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: wader leg on March 24, 2007, 01:06:32 PM I played in last weeks open when all players were promised their entry fee back on numerous occasions.
Now the "poker management team" have gone back on this promise and are refusing to refund me because I finished in the money. Nearly a week later I still could not withdraw my winnings due to held funds? The Value of the refund is irrelevant but the principle isn't, they said on live T.V that all players would be refunded. "Treat it as a freeroll" said Carlo Citrone. Other Blondes also seem to have had a problem receiving their promised refunds or accessing their winnings. Senior members seem to pop up to defend Sky's corner whenever people express dissatisfaction, do they think that this situation is acceptable? I will do it right now, but most of the non-operationsl Staff are off for the weekend, so they won't see it until Monday. After I have done that, I will respond to your final sentence. Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: ariston on March 24, 2007, 01:31:35 PM I am not involved in any way with skypoker but if you cashed I can't see why its a problem. If it really is that big a deal i will send you $20 on stars, after all its a £10 comp ffs. Not worth questioning people on heres integrity imo.
Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: wader leg on March 24, 2007, 01:36:01 PM Like I said the value of the refund is irrelevent but the the principle isn't
I didn't question anyone on here's integrity, I questioned Sky pokers integrity, Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: tikay on March 24, 2007, 01:58:28 PM I have e-Mailed this thread to Sky on your behalf, & they have replied already, telling me that it's been passed to the relevant people, who will deal with it as appropriate.
Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: wader leg on March 24, 2007, 02:02:41 PM Many thanks,
For what it's worth, it will be donated along with my winnings to the worthy cause on the other thread. I have to assume that means me. Do I find the situation acceptable? I don't know the facts, so I don't really know who's right or wrong. But I know that Sky in my dealings with them, they are a most reputable organisation. I hardly think they are going to allow their name to be sullied for a few quid, it's more likely a misunderstanding or a communication failure. I don't see myself as "defending" them, there is no need, more I explain situations which, as one close to the action, I am in a good position so to do. For example, folks complained in the early days about hand-reading errors by the analysts, & I went on to explain why it was so difficult a show, technically, to do. Everyone who has been to the studio agreed it is a horrendously complex job. And, as a result, Sky found a way to make the floor-projected table image much more use-friendly, so it was win-win. (Originally, a monochrome image was projected onto a bright green floor). Please also understand the position I am in. I am heavily involved in blonde, I do the show about once a week as an analyst, & I have a Consultancy Agreement with the TV Show, (so who better to explain the other side of the coin? Please note I work for Sky Poker, the TV channel, not Sky Poker.com, though naturally, I have an affinity with the .com company, as they are responsible for the whole thing. I hope that answers your question, & I am most grateful that you will donate any monies you get to a worthy cause. You may be interested to know that every night, the show has three Guests, usually two Celebs and a pukka poker player. They do not pay to enter "The Open", or the Sit'N'Gos which follow, but ALL winnings they earn go to a charity of the Guests choice. So in that way, quite a few bob finds it's way to good causes. Sadly, I am not classified as a good cause.....:) Have a good weekend. Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: wader leg on March 24, 2007, 02:38:21 PM Sorry, I assumed you were behind the scenes so to speak and knew the facts about the supposed refund.
Have a good weekend. Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: tikay on March 24, 2007, 02:45:05 PM Sorry, I assumed you were behind the scenes so to speak and knew the facts about the supposed refund. Have a good weekend. No, I never knew the intracies of this specific case, or I if I did, I forgot. It's an age thing. I do know that if they owe you money, they will pay you. I can think of at least 10 folks asscoiated with Sky Poker who are blondes, at least 6 of whom will be at bB4, & I'm sure they'll all be well-received. Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: Rod Paradise on March 24, 2007, 03:08:26 PM I've complained a few times about Sky Poker, including a similar complaint about not getting the refund as promised. I called and was instructed to send an email, which did get me the refund. Sky have shot themselves in the foot a bit. If the presenter says the refund's being made, then to just not make it until the players ask for it is not going to endear Sky to their users.
However, I'm enjoying the show, I'm loving that a lot of blondeites are getting to take part & I'm enjoying the games. Simply put - sort the software/server capacity (not the easiest job, but a must), make sure that promises made on screen take place, no matter whether they were wrong or not - the image of responsibility is worth more than the money for one tourney, and keep up the good bits and Sky's on a winner. I agree with most of this. The fact is, I believe, that they had a "bad day at the office", & some wheels fell off in Admin. As to Server capacity, the liquidity growth has been, I imagine, far greater & faster than they imagined, but they are on the case. Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: kinboshi on March 24, 2007, 07:35:31 PM Another thing. They shouldn't allow guests on in grey hoodies and shades. Does nothing for the image of poker, and quite frankly it's a little upsetting...

I work for the channel not the website and we try to relay accurate info to viewers when things go wrong. Communication between the two is improving as we refine lines of communication (i.e. who rings who when stuff blows up). Customer Services are the ones to contact if there's a problem with the site/your account, etc. If there's a problem with the programme, such as presenters (e.g. hoodies, shades, talking nonsense), then email theopen@skypoker.com. It's the same address if you want to actually come on the show to play. We're going to be inviting more players onto The Open in the coming weeks. Is Tikay both justified and ancient? Title: Re: Sky Poker Integrity Post by: wader leg on March 26, 2007, 06:17:50 PM It's Grim up North you know!
I was saving up to buy some new clogs and a shawl for my Whippet but I now know I can rely on Ariston's generosity to spare me one of the $20 bills he lights his cigars with should the need arise again. |
