Title: This hand has been troubling me Post by: TightEnd on October 03, 2005, 12:18:54 PM At the end of a tough week,
I want to share a hand with you, which I found particularly tough to play. It doesn't end with a bad beat, it doesn't knock me out, but I would be interested in your thoughts It's the second level of the Gutshot main event, blinds 50-100 I have 9,000 Chips having started at 8k, in the BB The button has 6,500 A loose, aggressive player in the SB has 7,000 Chips. He is an American player I am familiar with, and has already advertised pre flop raises with sh*te, and post flop bets with zilch I have asp 5s the button limps, the SB completes, I check (OK, another time I might raise, c'est la vie) the flop is 4h 2h 4d the SB and I check, as does the button the turn comes the 3c giving me the nut straight the SB bets 150 into the pot of 300 I raise to 500, interested in getting a flush draw to pass and finding out some information, button passes Here's where it gets interesting, immediately the SB raises me to 2000, so I found out, but what do I put him on? I dwell (legitimately). I'll leave my thought process to later, but I call (Agree? Raise?) I think I'm ahead of a 4 and on a blank final card (no heart, no low card) I want him to lead out to me The river is the 5c He immediately bets 1,500 I am being asked to call 1,500 into a 5,800 pot, as I ask the dealer to count the pot (just to get mateyboys's reaction to me working out the odds he is giving me) he smiles and quickly stops when he sees I've noticed (we are seats 10 and 1...1 is me, either side of dealer) Your thoughts here? Cheers everyone Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: Nem on October 03, 2005, 12:27:04 PM Very tough, but with the player in question being in the small blind he could have 42 , 22 , 56, 43 so there are plenty of hands you are losing to. He immediately bets out on the river, seems like the 5 on the river didn't matter much to him, i would fold.
Also on the turn you didn't have the nut straight, 65 is the nut straight. Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: TightEnd on October 03, 2005, 12:32:00 PM nemesis, you are right about the nut straight obviously
flipping horrible board to work out! Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: BigArmo on October 03, 2005, 12:39:39 PM If he rasies pre flop its easier to put him on a hand but u just don't know 65s why not lets see a flop, the 5 on the river would make me fold u still have chips hes gambler i would pick a better spot.

'A loose, aggressive player in the SB has 7,000 Chips. He is an American player I am familiar with, and has already advertised pre flop raises with sh*te,' he has only called in sb position, therefore I think he has something like J4 He's hit his set and thinks your 'at it' therfore is betting it, however it's only an opinion I CALL. Dewi, Do you think he had J4 suited or offsuit? ;) Also if you had trips would you bet into someone where a one card straight is possible at either end? Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: Dewi_cool on October 03, 2005, 06:35:02 PM Probably sooted thought he was getting value :)up, I believe because of the player it is worth a call, not saying in normal circumstances u should not fold. Having said that I'm rubbish anyway so Im probably wrong. >:?
Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: ACE2M on October 03, 2005, 06:41:37 PM call. pot to big to fold. if you were goona lay it down you should have layed it down on the turn.
Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: TightEnd on October 04, 2005, 09:48:02 AM What happened?
I passed (pleased with the discipline I showed) The 5 on the end was an awful card for me, he's begging me to call, both by the odds he's offering and the tell he has transmitted I show the A, he shows me 64 off..he's hit top straight on the end My analysis on the turn was correct, I was beating trip 4's A blank card on the end and I would have got more of his chips, as he confessed he thought his trip 4's were good on the turn Title: Re: This hand has been troubling me Post by: snoopy1239 on October 05, 2005, 12:05:31 AM You have to fold this. He'd have to be a maniac to bluff a board like that. It could suit many bb hands.
I actually put him on 56. Wasn't too far away considering he had the straight on the end. From the description you gave, I would have expected him to be trips pn the flop. good fold tho. |
