There is a thread on this somewhere....

I asked my bank for my charges back, I got a phone call to go into the bank to discuss payment.... The assistant told me it was getting dealt with, but I should open another bank account at a different bank, because the branch manager might decide to close my account...

I took this as a threat and preceded to go through the closing of my account at that moment... The assistant went and got the manager, and guess what,,, they backed down....

Dont let them pick on you... Dont accept a percentage of he charges... You should get 100% untill they are willing to charge a reasonable amount. The reason you want 100% is the fact that they have the interest on the money in the last 6 years...

I got my £1270 back into my account.. they told me anymore bad behaviour and they would close the account, I told them i dint give a shit and that I had 4 other bank accounts ready to make money from me, and they "amazingly" decided not to close it and told me to act more accordingly in future. If your account is closed, then they will send you an agreement sheet and you will fill in the bank details of the account you want it to go to, and they will process it, will take no more then a week.

Totalise how long did this take? I applied when this first broke and have had no further communication.  Must be 3 months now.

2 months or so...after that long i phoned my bank up and told them that if they didn't pull their finger out i was taking them to court and i was gonna make them pay interest, and they sent a letter 4 days later. In an ideal world you are prob best off going to court, and making the interest as well.. they dont dispute it... I just got too lazy to do that.

I'm defo gonna do this,Lloyds the scummers must have at least a grand of my money due to all these £25 fines, then i pay a £25 fine and it puts me over the overdraft and so another fine follows... quite a vicious circle!

so if banks end up charging a monthly fee for all current accounts, those of us who never go overdrawn end up paying too.

thanks

Find a bank that doesn't charge for holding a current account. It'll happen eventually. Or stuuf yer money in a mattress...
most banks offer free current accounts. they will also offer upgraded accounts with extra bells and whistles included. Current accounts are not a source of income for banks.

they're not a charity, they are a business, set up to make profit for its share holders. I used to work in a high street bank and believe me, they'd rather have customers that budget better, stay in credit and saved up their spare cash, than customers who live in their overdraft and spend money they dont have. Banks make far more money from investments and insurance and long term borrowing like mortgages than they do from short term borrowing and fees.

that said, although on paper it's supposed to be 'needs based selling' the targets are very demanding and good people occassionally behave badly to survive. that's why I got out. didn't sit right with me
