Title: turning a pony into a monkey
Post by: fergus8 on April 04, 2007, 01:57:48 AM
this is a challenge i had seen on a sports betting forum a few years back and has stuck in my head ever since.

in that thread named "quest for le grand" or something, this guy tried to turn £50 into £1000 with one bet at a time. the bets were always in the same market, correct score, and always laying the same score, nil-nil. he was betting the french and dutch league for some reason, dont know why? anyway he failed after getting a fair distance.

so onto my challenge, turning £25 into £500, by doing exactly the same. ive gone for making 10% approx on each bet, and by doing a few calculations it should take around 30 bets to complete the challenge. after each succesful bet the total balance is then placed on the next game praying for a goal, ANY GOAL!, from either team.
so its quite good for a bit of a buzz

its just a bit of fun, but lets see how it goes

though i have some ground rules that id like to stick to ( but prob wont)

1. dont bet on 1st leg ties
2. dont bet on games involving osasuna

this may be updated at a later date

I hate Osasuna!

They were the screwjob merchants or Championship Manager 01/02!

Good luck with this.

I personally think 0-0 is often overpriced on betfair, can often be as high as 9/10-1 and im an often backer of it.

I think youd be better off laying another score.

BUT, Good Luck mate. Post the games your doing it on and ill cheer you on (well, for a goal).

A 1 goal or more challenge eh!  I've tried this several times, it always goes tits up at some point.  I ended my last one when I hit 3 0-0's in a row.  For the money you get from each bet, it's just not worth it imo.

All the best mate :)

hmm , there aint much to choose from tonight.

three games avail are not that appealing

chelsea valancia   @8.8
roma manu@8.1
st mirren hibs@11

swaying towards st mirren hibs, though its 11 just now, and you cant accumulate the lays so its one at a time, champs league 1st legs are usually really tight affairs, last night was an exception. and roma manu looks super tight to me, ok ive decided

over the first hurdle, up to a balance of £28.06, onto thursdays tie.....

....already getting cocky by thinking of two games on thursday.

leverkusen osasuna tie and the sevilla spurs tie

bet 2

leverkusen v osasuna £28.06@ 9.4 for a total balance of £31.23 if it wins which hopefully rolls on to spurs later on that night

Both legs of Spurs Seville are a cert for a goal IMO.

well i had to wait TWICE  as long as the last game (cuellar in the 1st minute), as spurs have scored in 2 mins via keane, unreal.

So if it's 0-0 you get screwed, and if not you just roll it all on over to the next game till you get to 500 knicker?

You betting either of tonights games on SKY?  Laid 0.0 derby game easy money  with leicester's defence :)

Don't think I'll touch the Everton and Man City games both  could be 0.0

no man city fulham everton and charlton are to avoided, epecially fulham who go out to get nil nil every week,

£37.23 in the kitty and i think ill start saturday with a goal fest that is chelsea spurs, the problem is though its reflected in the price @ 17 :(

but its an early kick off and 99% gtd a goal or seven

I have done this bet before and started with a Bank of £100 my aim was to get to £500 and then if I reached my target I would bank £400 and start again.I successfully got my target after about 13 games but on the second attempt I failed after my 2nd match.
The best adcice I can give you is to maybe lower your target to £200 as 30 in a row is highly unlikely, be patient, stay clear of Seria A and The Champions League and lookout for some decent in-running lays.

Good Luck

seems like a hard way to make a pony Andy although initial outlay isn't to bad.  I would say your probably better betting singles on outcome of a match
