Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Dewi_cool on October 05, 2005, 10:44:49 PM What size are the pies, and are they the ones in the tin? 0:-)
Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: The Truth on October 06, 2005, 06:09:34 AM What size are the pies, and are they the ones in the tin? 0:-) Of course they are the ones in tins! This is a very interesting point you bring up Dewi. With all the books DVDs and even private tuition from the big name pros that are are on the market, they are still keeping the most importantsecret from the likes of you and I. Tinned Pies are the food of champions. Raymer, Moneymaker, Hansen, Helmuth, Brunson - the one thing they don't tell you in any book or interview is to eat a diet of tinned pies. Ask yourself why. It's because they want to keep on winning. A few members of this forum know what I am saying - At-It Bradley, partial to a bit of steak & kidney, Ariston's penchant for pie of all variety is legendary and on the back of his recent performance at the Gutshot Tikay is said to be quite an authority in the Fray bentos department. Don't take my word for it, try it for yourself. Next time you are playing online whop a pie in the oven and during the tournament (not sure if it works in cash games) sample the delights of the meat, the pastry and of course (most importantly) the gravy. You are sure to cash. If anyone does follow the 'secret of champions' advice could they please publish their results so other blondites may benefit. I haven't even looked at a creampie in years I swear ;) Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Trace on October 06, 2005, 07:44:53 PM but what about Cherry pie? ;)

I am astonished that my question has brought about so much debate, all because Kev would rather win a pie than any monies , ranking points or trophies, it is obvious now that the truth has pointed it out. that kev is in the know ;) re the prowess of the pie, I for one will be now be basing my entire diet on pies in tins and my poker results should improve no end. It just goes to show the benefits available to all blondites by posting on this site, how else would we be able to find out information such as this without mixing witht the likes of Raymer and Moneymaker . Thanks very much :)up Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Colchester Kev on October 06, 2005, 08:23:11 PM I am, as was stated in a long forgotten thread, The president of The Pie appreciation society ...
We recently held an event dedicated to celebrating the white soggy bit just under the crust of a freshly baked Fray bentos pie, and we also swapped tales of how to get the best use of the bits that stick to the tin once it is served .... we unanimously decided that the best practise was to thickly butter a slice of crusty bread, and mop said residue with grace and skill, making sure that none was wasted. We Also had a marvellous and frank discussion as to the benefits of adding something moist to Pie and chips from the Chippy... Mushy peas and gravy were the eventual winners, which led to a bout of mourning from us Southern based pie fanciers, as we are looked at like martians when we ask for peas and gravy in our local Chippy's. Honorable mentions were made ( and praise heaped upon) the delightfull pastry packed offerings from both Pukka Pies and Hollands pies... Hollands Chicken and Mushroom being awarded top marks. The next meeting of the Society is to be held in Blackpool at the forthcoming festival .... we shall be taking every oportunity to sample the various Pies and moist accompaniments that the town of Blackpool prides itself upon.... As a side note ... Gingsters have just brought out individual Chicken pies and they are BUY ONE GET ONE FREE at Tesco stores nationwide.. I have this evening purchased said pie and will post in due course as to my findings..... Happy pie eating to all. Kev. Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Dewi_cool on October 06, 2005, 08:34:06 PM Kev,
Thanks for the information, I would like to join your society if possible and am willing to travel to Blaackpool for the next meeting, can you please supply the info required for joining the society - Membership form ,costs etc. would there be an initiation ceremony? I have not been this excited since the results of the devolution referendum :) thanks in anticipation :)up Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Colchester Kev on October 06, 2005, 08:39:59 PM We have no membership requirements as such, all you need to display is a true love of pies... as for an initiation ceremony, all new members are required to purchase the LARGE mugs of tea for the other members when the pie savouring session is in progress.
Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: The Truth on October 06, 2005, 09:19:51 PM The mopping up of the remaining bits of pie that stick to the tin reminded me of my favourite treat as a student in Glasgow. I would take two scotch pies, microwave them add brown sauce (HP is a preferred choice) place each pie in a floured bab and enjoy. Many late night debates took place on whether the baps should remain plain or be buttered.
Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Colchester Kev on October 06, 2005, 09:25:00 PM My student days (stuck in a grotty enfield bedsit). Come the end of the month when money was scarce and the sofa had already been raided for loose change .. we existed on Instant mash sandwiches ... Thank god for a bank balance that now allows me to indulge freely in my predereliction to the culinary delights of the Pie :)
Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: Robert HM on October 06, 2005, 09:25:15 PM Buttered of course
Title: Re: Poker4Charity Ranking Points Post by: The Truth on October 06, 2005, 09:29:36 PM Instant mash ............ yuk! However have used it to thicken tomato soup as one of my mates always insisted that instant mash was healthier than real potatos as they ADDED vitamins!!!!!!!! >:?
