Short stacked Lohmann (55k) got it all in very favourably, actually, with Ac Qs against McHugh's Kh Qh... Flop: 4c Js Qd Turn: 3c River: Kd So 41st place goes to the Danish youngster (much wringing of hands on the river from Hostrup, but a big cheer from the Danny Fan Club...) Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 04:17:33 PM Julian Adamson has doubled up Glen McCabe, betting into a 2s Jh Td Flop, only to see Glen move all-in for very little more.
Julian made the obligatory call, but couldn't outdo Glen's Ad Jd with the "That's the worst possible card" 3d Turn and the blank Th River. ----------------- Maz Nawab is OUT. Made his move with K-9, but was picked off by Sorel Mizzi's A-T. Emphatic A-A-4-T-5 board. ---------- Gunter Koch has bitten the dust, shortstacked an all-in with Jc Jd, Gunter found himself in a 50-50 situation vs. Marty Smyth's Kd Qd. Board = Kc 3c 6d Ks Qs Lost another. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 04:34:49 PM Eddie Gorman is the first to go after the table break break...
Having bluffed off a few to Tim Flanders (who called a 30kish bet on the river 9-8-2-4-4 with A-8 and saw Gorman muck), he got it all in with 3c 3h, called by superstack Danny D'Borin's 8h 8s... The board came Qs 5c Qc 6s Tc and the man known by MC as "The PaddyPower Qualifier" headed for the rail (€10k richer). Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 04:41:36 PM Nicolai Kostakis survives an all-in, moving 40 or so k in (probably blind) with 8-3, only to find that he had Terry McDaid and his 7-3 somehow dominated.
8-T-K-6-A board sealed the deal. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 04:49:50 PM Tim Flanders is OUT -
All in racing his Tc Ts against Glen McCabe's Aspades Kh. An Ad 8c 5c flop, at which Tim hopes, "Club club?" But the turn was a King and the river an irrelevant Nine and McCabe's rush continues while Flanders is on the rai-diddly-ail. ------------- Carlo Citrone is OUT. Jd 7c vs. Thomas Finneran's Aspades 7d Board = Qd Qs Ts 3c 9s Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 04:59:20 PM Oh you overhear some things in the pressroom - the Antesup team are shaking their heads in sheer stupefaction after hearing about Nicky Power's move a minute ago...
He was on the big blind. It folded to the small blind, Roland, who raised. Nicky, announces, "All in." The dealer mucks his hand. No one notices; Nicky cups his hands in front of him. The small blind mucks instantly and the pot is awarded to him, in the odd situation where neither player had any cards, and he'd made the last action. Tom Murphy: "What a headcase." Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 05:00:24 PM A few quick chip counts:

All-in pre (it's pretty much the order of the day - we're not seeing hugely complex streets play) with Ahrt Jh against John Quinn's 4c 4s. Flop: 2s Tc 3c "No change," helps the announcer, as Jules is off his chair Turn: 5h Supporters materialise for the ex-blond as he looks on with the tension you might expect River: Jd Cheer from the crowd (that sinking feeling for Quinn) as Jules starts circling his chair like dogs do before they go to sleep on something Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 05:32:59 PM In 27th place, winning €14,000 finishes BA Kildalen...
He pushed in at the first open opportunity (he had about 130k) with what he said, when called, was Aces but was in fact Aspades 4d. He got looked up by Ac Qs... Board: 2s 7d Qd Ahrt Td. Along with pretty much everyone else who didn't hop on the first flight home after Day One. Paul Zimbler was looking for Dave Colclough in the break, but there's a sea of tables once more and I wished him luck in spotting him during the 10 mins left...
Meanwhile Jules Adamson has only 130k or so, and is planning on re-raising Roland. A tricky proposition when he admitted Roland tended to have the goods. "So you're saying de Wolfe is a luckbox?" I pressed. "Yes. Yes he is." replied Hartwith, whose flight home leaves in five minutes. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 07:00:05 PM David Barker is OUT.
He moved all-in from under the gun with Kc Qs and was called by Jerker Eriksson in the big blind with 7c 7s. Board = 7d 8h 4s 9d 9s Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 07:10:55 PM Mick McCloskey rides the Aces rollercoaster News Now:
Tom Finneran raised preflop and got a call from Mick in the big blind. I figure this from the size of the pot when it all got in on the Ts 6d 6c flop. Tom had the Ac As while Mick's Tc 9c looked to be in a bit of trouble. It stayed that way; Tom doubled up leaving McCloskey with under 50k and a pretty instant push in. This time he had the Ahrt Ac and big blind autocaller Carlsson had Tc 7s. The board quickly double paired (Jacks and Deuces) and without the house split Mick is still in, hanging by thread... Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 07:16:20 PM Danny McHugh raises 35k pre-flop, Bruce Yamron calls from the blind.
Flop = 5d 3d 9s All-in, called. Danny = Ac Kh Bruce = Qd Jd Kc is a cracking Turn for Danny. "Come on Danny!" cheer the Mayo Rail. Danny looks apprehensive... River = 2h "Yeah!!!!!" A huge roar from the McHugh fans! Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 07:17:05 PM Roland de Wolfe takes another scalp - this time racing out Joe Rafferty's Q-Q with his A-K. Ridiculous lead increased...

Peter Maughan dealing the final blows. A-9 v K-Q Q-4-7-2-T board. -------------- Thomas Finneron, one of the remaining Paddy Power qualifiers, has just doubled up off Peter Maughan who is retelling his tale of woe to Mike 'Lucky Blind' Lacey on the rail. It was an unavoidable car crash I guess, with Peter finding Queens and raising it up pre-flop, before calling the all-in of Thomas, as pretty much every player on the planet would do at this stage The board came a Queenless Th 4h 5h 2h Ts, and although Peter made a flush with the Qh, Thomas outdid him by one with the Kh. As a result of this clash, Peter is now down to a meek 40k. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 07:48:14 PM Jules Adamson Double Doubles:
Down to his last meagre 60k, he doubles up in successive hands to over 250k - no idea what the first one was but the second saw his Ac 9c all in against McCabe's Ad 8c. He couldn't have been in much better shape, and with a 9s 3d 4s flop (running Queens filling the rest of the board) he was grinning as he found himself back in the game. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 08:31:04 PM Redraw Break Over - here are the positions:
Table 1 Thomas Finneran -- 627,000 Nicky Power -- 487,000 Julian Adamson -- 230,000 Marty Smyth -- 345,000 Peter Eastgate -- 308,000 Peter Maughan -- 42,500 John Quinn -- 298,000 Jerker Eriksson -- 451,000 Brian O'Keefe -- 280,000 Table 2 Roland de Wolfe -- 1,470,000 Paul Zimbler -- 580,000 Darrin Melwani -- 200,000 Sorel Mizzi -- 432,000 Bruce Yamron -- 182,000 Danny McHugh -- 283,000 Glen McCabe -- 301,000 Paul Dooley -- 508,000 Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 08:41:01 PM Last Longerest Dusk Till Dawner Paul Zimbler says he's like totally psyched (I paraphrase). Chipped up (over 600k) and not too worried, as it turns out, at being sat right next to monster chip leader Roland. He was comfortable on the TV table, playing a few hands which might get on TV - he says he pushed off five limpers with 9-9 from the big blind once, plus got the Aces, but re-raised too much preflop - he says he was hoping the overbet would tempt in a small pair...
Of his J-Q preflop call of a short stack's raise and subsequent push on the flop he is unrepentant - even though he was called by A-K and won by spiking a Jack, he reckons that pushing on a raggy flop was a good chance for him to win it... As for his opponents, he rates young Canadian Sorel Mizzi highly, but is looking to get "me and Roland heads up." Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 08:44:46 PM First hand back and we've lost one in Peter Peter Maughan.
All-in with Ahrt 8s, Peter runs into the Kh Ks of Julian Adamson, which holds up on a 5c Ts 9d Js Td board. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 08:52:52 PM Roland raises it up to 60k, Darrin Melwani moves all-in and Roland calls.
Ad Jd vs. Ac 3s Board = 5c 4s 8c 7s Qc Melwani doubles through. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 09:03:18 PM Jules Adamson loses one - to the highly popular fox O'Keefe:
Raising to 40k, O'Keefe called and they saw a 7-8-4 flop. O'Keefe immediately moved in, forcing a pass (and show of 3d 3c) from Jules. _________________________________ Roland's armour somewhat cracked: He gets Glen McCabe all in (around 300k, which he called reasonably fast) with Qd Qc...Glen had Aspades Jh. Flop: Ac 8c 9s Turn: 4s River: Ahrt So the first big-pot outdraw of the chip leader - followed quite abruptly by his call of all-in Darrin Melwani, whose Ad Jd stayed in front of Roland's Ahrt 3h. That was a smaller pot - I heard the announcer announce the figure 177k - but I wonder if the halt of his smooth rise to domination is tilting him ever so slightly... Plus, I will feel bad if he destroys 1.5 mil in chips because I picked him and last time I did that, he said, "You bokked me in Dortmund." Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 09:14:33 PM Bruce Yamron is eliminated by Sorel Mizzi:
Missed the preflop action (they're on the TV table), but the heads up flop came Aspades Jc 7h. Bruce Yamron moved in, call from Sorel, who held Ad 8d, now comfortably ahead of Yamron's Qd Qc... The turn brought a Ts which prompted a rustle of "King..." from his supporters, but the rivered 9c knocked Bruce out and we are down to 15. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 09:18:45 PM I join the action with the flop reading Ts 2d 2c, Marty Smthy having checked and with Jerker Eriksson betting 100k.
Marty Smyth dwells it up, counts out his chips and makes the call. Turn = 9c Marty checks, Jerker moves all-in and Marty calls instantly for his remaining 167k. Jerker mucks before seeing the academic River. "Great play," praises O'Keefe as Marty reveals Pocket Tens for the full house. Jerker is furious with himself and his newly depleted 110k stack, but forces himself to tap the table nonetheless. ------------ The action's still thick and fast and it shouldn't take too long, but not unless they stop chopping pots up, the latest being an all-in clash between Danny McHugh and Paul Dooley, Aspades Ks vs. Ad Qd ending up in a split pot on a 4d 5s 8c 8d 5h board. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 09:24:49 PM Possibly suffering the tilt effects, but not in a position to do much else, Jerker Eriksson moved in with 4s 4d and got a caller in Nicky Power with his Ac Kh.
The Kc 9h Qh 9c Ks board was pretty emphatic, so a disappointed Jerker Eriksson is suddenly on the rail, finishing 15th, winning €19,000... Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 08, 2007, 09:42:45 PM Rough counts, as we approach the dinner break:

Back to Qualifier Tom, who announced "all-in" - it looks like he probably covered Eastgate, who went into the tank. Eventually he passed, and got shown Ac 3c. A bit of adrenaline fuelled chat from Tom, including "something-something-f***ing-something" which got an immediate warning from the TD.
Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 11:15:56 PM Paul Zimbler is OUT.
A-7 vs. Fours, no improvement. ------------- A vastly supported Brian O'Keefe has doubled up, cracking Aces in the process. I couldn't get near the table to get the details as the audience had crashed the barrior and were swarming the table. I did hear the announcer say that Brian has Turned a flush draw and then Rivered the Flush, so it sounded like a painful one. Word is out that we're talking about a 700k pot though, so a huge one for O'Keefe which he didn't hesitate to celebrate to the fullest. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 08, 2007, 11:44:05 PM Glen McGabe is OUT.
All-in on the feature table with A-9, Glen found himself in big doggy doo against Sorel Mizzi, the North American holding a seemingly formidable A-T on an A-T-3 Flop. 3 Turn and 8 River were no help and we lost our 10th man in Glen McGabe, who exited like a gentleman, shaking hands with all remaining players on that table. Short stacked Peter Eastgate (he's Danish, I believe) moved in, and found a re-raiser in Tom Finneran...a bit of a ruling about what constituted a raise for Roland (it's double the bet, not the raise here) later and they were on their backs: Peter: Ac 7d Tom: Ad Ks Board came: 2c 5c 6c 6h Ts SO Peter Eastgate finishes 9th, winning €35,000 And after a 10 minute break to move the final nine to the off-camera table, there's another one to move them back on the TV table. Beautiful logistical control. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 09, 2007, 12:50:30 AM Courtesy of Paddy Power:

1: Danny McHugh 2: Brian O'Keefe 3: Sorel Mizzi 4: Marty Smyth 5: Nicky Power 6: Tom Finneran 7: Roland de Wolfe 8: Paul Dooley Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 09, 2007, 01:14:04 AM Raise by Mizzi to 180k pre... It's his.
Paul Dooley makes it 90k pre... It's his. Roland makes up the small blind, bb Dooley checks. Flop: Jc Aspades Th ch-ch Turn: Tc ch-ch River: 7h ch-ch Roland shows Q-7. "That's Sevens and Tens with an Ace," helpfully adds the commentator. That's the sum total of all action which has occurred on the final thus far. Hmm, taking a while, this. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 09, 2007, 01:22:14 AM Roland moves in preflop - everyone perks up - the other players fold - everyone calms down. We've taken the unprecedented step of moving our mobile office (laptop, that is) on to one of the empty tables behind the TV set and just listening to the commentary. It's a bit like reporting off a live recording of a radio show.
Oh, a re-raise from Paul Dooley: 210k over the top of Martyn Smyth... call, for what must be a good half his stack...we're wondering what's going on with that... Flop: 6d Aspades 3d Martyn announces all-in for 320k (ah, now I see) - and Paul takes a good few minutes before letting his hand go. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 09, 2007, 01:32:47 AM Preflop raiser No. of times he nicks the blinds
Paul Dooley I Roland de Wolfe I Martyn Smyth II I really wish I had some details which could spice this dry table up, but I don't. Such is the nature of live reporting. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 09, 2007, 01:52:03 AM Nicky Power moves in for 342,000 over the top of Martyn Smyth's 80k preflop raise...
A long fold and Smyth showed 2s 2c. Power reciprocated: 3d 3c... took the pot and got some unidentifiable noises of support from the crowd. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 09, 2007, 02:02:36 AM Paul Dooley is OUT and becomes the 8th place finisher winning €50,000
A huge 1.3 million pot involving Dooley and Canadian whiz kid Sorel Mizzi, with all the chips flying in on a 9d 4h 2h Flop. Dooley = 8h 7h Mizzi = Ac 9s "Deuce!" demands a member of the audience. Turn = dangerous 8s "Deuce!" he shouts again. River = Ks "Ship it!" he shouts. Mizzi high fives his fellow North Americans as Dooley leaves to a huge roar of appreciation from the onlooking crowd. Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 09, 2007, 02:08:14 AM With the exit of Dooley, Tom Finneran is reminded that he has won the PaddyLast qualifiers' last longer. He'll be off to Vegas to play the WSOP Main Event courtesy of Paddy Power. Nice.
Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 09, 2007, 02:30:03 AM We have a double up for Nicky Power to the delight of his fans who are whooping and hollering like crazymen.
Sorel Mizzi makes a standard raise of around 100k, Nicky Power (possibly a little fed up) pushes all-in for 447k and Sorel makes the call. Nicky = Ad 7c Sorel = Kh Qd Board = 4h 5s 6c 3c Qc Title: Re: Paddy Power Irish Open: Day 3 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 09, 2007, 02:52:07 AM End of Day Chip Counts:
