Title: The Irish Open
Post by: KOConnell on April 09, 2007, 09:43:33 PM
There are only two tournaments that I fell rely gutted when i get busted the WSOP and the Irish Open so as usual I'm gutted :-( But what a great weekend every one had the crack the poker was how it used to be and how it should be from its umbel beginnings in the back streets of Dublin to the main Ball room of one of the top hotels the Irish Open (Main Event ) is the best of the best
But what a mess they made of the side events the 1000 euro tournament had 400 plus runners and should have been fantastic but know one had put any thought into it after all it was just a side event lets take the money and run most have been the idea because after 7hours off play 80% of the field had gone and with average chips off 30,000 it was costing 5000 a round making the all in move the only way to play and make yet an other crap shoot that the players had to pay for any one who was there tell me I'm wrong or tell Paddy powers there were wrong by e mail lets see what they have to say

I remember people complaining about the side events at the Irish Championships in January too.

This is what I think keeps the "Irish" from being a Major festival this side of the Atlantic. I was due to come over to rail the main event, but also to play in the side tournements.(probablly just picking one cos of the old BR).
I was however put off by a few of my Irish friends, who suggested that the other tourny's were a bit crapshooty.

I think PADDY POWER are missing a trick here, maybe next year they might plan a  more player friendly week long festival alongside the open, maybe planning an online satterlite system to introduce meny more players to the Dublin event. (Like stars do for the wsop side events)

Just like to add, what a fantastic update from Jen and Snoops, I was glued to it all weekend.

We had tons of play in the Pot Limit Omaha event. You should have done well in that one instead.
