Title: Farewell Blonde
Post by: Sark79 on April 10, 2007, 02:38:10 AM
After some consideration, I have decided that is it as far as poker goes for me for the foreseeable future. It has been an enjoyable 18 months since I started playing poker and Blonde has been a big reason for this.  However, I am just wasting my time and money playing poker and to be honest it just doesn't hold the appeal for me that it did a few months ago. I have no idea how players do this for a job every day and don't go crazy, lol. I have had a solid month of being outdrawn and hitting no cards at all and it has decimated my BR, I see this as a sign that perhaps now is the time to walk away and spend some time doing something else for a while. To be honest, I am looking forward to the summer and getting back into running and cycling which have both been put on the back burner in recent times.

I would like to say a massive thanks to everyone at Blonde for a fun time and I appreciate you putting up with my sometimes insane ways  :D.  I consider you all friends and I am honored  to have become part of the Blonde community so soon after I started playing in Oct 2005.  I have no doubt that I will see one of you at some point in the future picking up a WSOP bracelet or grinning at me from the front cover of a poker magazine while I buy my morning newspaper at the local newsagents.  I still love watching poker and I have actually just spent the last few hours clicking through various youtube videos of HSP and catching a bit of tikays PNL comeback, I just don't enjoy playing poker right now.

I would like to say a special thanks to all the mods who make the forum what it is, so a big thanks to ( in no particular order ) : Red, Tikay, Heid, Ginger, Tank, RobertHM, Iron, Tighty, NoflopsHomer, Snoopy, ElBlondie, Baron, Dewi ( temp BB4 mod, lol ), Charmain ( Birthday mod . She has been promoted  :) ) Rod,  I really hope I haven't missed anyone, if I have left someone out then I am really sorry and I include you as well.

Who knows what the future holds, in a few years I may return to poker, but for now I need to take a break from it as it is not making me happy anymore. In September , I am going back to Uni and I will be going into 3rd year, so I have a few months to try and remember what I was actually studying before I stupidly dropped  out last year. To be honest I have forgotten most of it already  :D,  its cool though, it should come back after I look over my old notes. I also plan to read and re-read every poker text I can find in an attempt to try and build a solid foundation to build from should I decide to return to the game in the future.

Thanks for the memories all my friends on the Blonde forum. Good luck for the future. Tank and Dale don't work too hard. ( I have thought long and hard over who will win this insane bet. My final decision is that it will be a draw, lol.  gl both ) .

good luck to all those going to the WSOP.  Perhaps we will see matt become the first monkey to win an event.

Sark .

You don't actually think you can escape, do you?

NOOOOOOO!!
Why is it necessary to leave Blonde ace, i know u may wish to put poker on the backburner but blonde is much more than just a poker forum.

As wardonkey said you wont escape!!

But if you find some small hole in the fence to crawl away to freedom then i wish you all the best in uni and in life in general.

All the best Sark

I was hoping to keep my 5000th post for some fitting tribute to the blonde community or to celebrate winning the Sunday million, however this unexpected event has shifted my mindset entirely, we cannot allow Sark to leave, he is a comedy genius. who can forget 'potting the cactus' story, 'losing a boot in the river', and my favourite 'pretending to be a plumber'.
We must stop Sark leaving, CAMPAIGN STARTS HERE, we have to let him know that he has to STAY, will you all please post in favour of SARK STAYING, and remind him that;

You dont have to play poker to play here but if you do it helps

I'm going back to bed now, this news has really upset me, when I return I expect loads of 'DO NOT GO POSTS'

cheers

Nothing against you personally Sark, just commenting on itbs observation.  I wish you all the best....

I agree mate, it happens on most forums, but on here people get the sort of reaction I assume they want, which others see and seem to want.   There was one a week or so back where the person got a few pages of reaction, then it went O/T so they started another thread to say the same thing :D

BTW, I wont be posting here tonight, my minds made up.

I for one am glad you said 'ta ta' mate, instead of just disappearing. It would have been a shame if you just drifted off into the sunset. Every time a see a penguin, I think of you and your funny comments. Remember, you don't need to be playing or have any money in your account to post here.

Haste ye back.

Wont be going this year but take a good look at this face - here will be the first monkey to win a WSOP event.

Only 4 & 1/2 months old and already 2nd in a $100 HORSE event with 1167 runners for over $16000 (ok, only play money - but its a start)

Nothing wrong from taking a break from poker - i'm enjoying one now, but it doesnt mean i'm going to leave the family!! :)up

Don't be a stranger

Yes I too don't usually care much for the "flouncing out" type threads but, hey, this is Sark which means he's using this thread to just let us know what's going on in his world rather than looking for a reaction.

Real shame that you're leaving the forum my friend and I'll miss your postings greatly.

Enjoy the next few months and all the best with your studies.

Mind those savage horses too!   rotflmfao

What a crackin photo Matt :-)

Sark as you know I have have posted 3 farewells to poker as I recall maybe more LOL

Its not that easy to walk away.

Before I joined Blonde I played for fun, I played mostly $1/3 stts and set my self a budget of £10 sometimes £20 a week that I could afford to lose and to be honest I was quite happy with that, it was much less than I spent at a night in Bingo and I was having a great time chatting to people all over the world.

I spent several weeks/months reading all the posts on here before I first said hello and I can honestly say joining the forum was a turning point in my life. I loved being part of the community but it also meant that to be a part of it I had to contribute.

I posted a couple of hand anaylisis and the responce I got made me realise I was plankton to a school of whales. Some of the answers i read make me feel like a complete idiot.

It didnt put me off and I have made SOOO many friends on here, professionals who will give you advice, amateurs like me saying thanks for posting coz i wanted to ask the same but didnt and the ocasssional (not often enough) chat up merchant who put a smile on my face.

Most important to me is that Blonde has taught me that poker is a game of chance/skill and if you can improve on your skill then you will win more often, I can now spot the numpties on the table but more important pick out the players who are better than me.

Blonde has taught me this...it has also made me realise...like Sark that you can only play your best and if your best isnt good enough then its time to bail out.

I wish you good luck Sark babe and Im sure you will be successful in what ever you do, you have that positive outlook in life and dont ever lose it.

I hope you make it to a Blonde Bash..you have more friends on here than know.

Hi folks, thanks everyone.  I wasn't trying to be a drama queen honestly, I just didn't want you all to think I had been imprisoned, hospitalised by the local Hoodies or eaten by my Venus Fly Trap by accident.   I still feel I would be better off taking at least 6 months off poker and I will probably redeposit into a site and concentrate only on STT/Tournaments  when I start playing again.  Like I said to Graham the other day, cash games are never going to suit my game and I am now beginning to understand that.

I am sure I will pop in to say hi every so often though, It will be hard to stop my OCD style clicking rituals, every morning it is in this order -  hotmail, BBC sport, BBC news , euronews, Blonde, motorsport forum, wikipedia, youtube.  Once I missed out euronews by mistake and the next day we had unusually heavy rain and the bin men forgot to empty my wheelie bin.  I always wonder if my lack of a euronews click caused this to happen, lol.
