Title: most memorable hand Post by: Ironside on April 10, 2007, 03:42:08 AM tikay mentioned a hand today on PNL which was my most memorable ever
it was during my 3rd trip down to the vic in london previuosly i had finished 45th in a £750 comp and 35th in a £200 rebuy comp this time i was back to the £750 freeze an event i love due to the running antes my table at different stages had willie tann, mark banin, james vogts (just after he won his bracelet and i had no idea who he was till next day) pippa flanders, tikay padraig parkingson to name just a few anyway padraig comes to the table and sits in seat 9/10 i think it was 9 handed and i am in seat 1 with the dealer between us the hand in question i am in the bb with a very nice stack and QTo the table have all marked me down as the mug and want to get in posts with me so there are 3 limpers matching the 400bb (running ante involved aswell) and padraig completes we see a rainbow flop of J93 and padraig leads out at the pot with a 2k bet i smooth call ad the rest of table fold the king n turn gves me the nuts so when padraig checks i check back hoping that he will bet the river for me too come over top now the river was an 8 i still had the nuts and i was trying to work out how to get some of padraigs chips into the pot when i hear ALL IN now i check my cards then check the board making sure i havent missed read anything before announcing call pdraig calls straight ad i say snap turning my cards over suddenly padraig gets up and his cihips and pushed over too me and he shakes my hand and leaves i never got to see his cards as dealer was in the way but he showed T7 for a rivered baby straight this hand helped me become one of the chip leaders and helped me make the money for the first time in a big event before running my KK and 2nd biggest stack on table into AA and the biggest stack on table with just 14 players left a few months later i went back to the vic and was in the bar when padraig is introduced to me and tells me that i cost him a fourtune now he knew if he had won that pot he would be in a great postion to make it deep into the event and towards the 1st place £50k and he had marked me down as the fish so when he rivered the straight he thought he would push in and get me thinking oh here is the pro trying to push me about before calling with 2 pair or trips or anything apart from the nuts. not only this but a few hours later he see a couple at the bar the EDERLY (no not tikay) gent was in a wheelchair, now padraig never saw much of me apart from my chair as he sat down and left, thought to himself that fish blew all them chips so sent over drinks to this couple now after he sent over the 2nd round the mans wife comes over and thanks him but ask why, padraig explains that her husband had knocked him out of the poker to which she explained they didnt play poker nad only came in for some blackjack, seemily padraig spent a few memorable hours in this couples company adding to the money i had cost him on the tables at the bar this hand will always remain in my mind as i think its the first time i actually knock another player out in such a big pot in such a big comp live and the player was a former wsop main event 3rd place finisher now i hope that makes sence and you can understand it so which hand springs out when someone ask you for a memorable hand Title: Re: most memorable hand Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 10, 2007, 03:53:13 AM http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=21927.msg446657#msg446657 (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=21927.msg446657#msg446657)

Anyway i remember towards the end of the night it was just me and her, i was out of position and found that quite uncomfortable. I was quite drunk that night and my decision making skills weren't as sharp as they might have been and if i was sober i may have played it a bit differently. As it turned out i didn't call her.
