Title: Re: Physicist Unlocks Secrets of Texas Hold 'Em Post by: bolt pp on April 10, 2007, 08:38:29 AM PMSL at the title!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad someones finally "unlocked the secrets" to texas holdem cos Doyle Brunson obviously hasn't had a clue what he's been doing for the past 50 years. I'm not impressed, nothing radical here at all, a lot of what he's talking about has been covered over the years, he's just expressing it in a different way. I also don't see how some of what he's talking about has got anything to do with winning at poker? Title: Re: Physicist Unlocks Secrets of Texas Hold 'Em Post by: bolt pp on April 10, 2007, 09:25:52 AM Any news on the cancer cure? me? or did you mean from America in general? Cos the other day my radiator was leaking and ive been trying to fix that and then i had a migraine that lasted for about 2 days, really it was one of those i couldn't even get up, I was drinking a lot the early part of last week and this weekend theres been a lot of football action so i really haven't got around to doing much in the last couple of weeks, though my favorite chair has been a bit wonky for a few weeks and i manged to fix that so............ :)up (it was a rivet problem) Title: Re: Physicist Unlocks Secrets of Texas Hold 'Em Post by: Royal Flush on April 10, 2007, 09:30:12 AM http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/physics/pdf/0703/0703122v1.pdf (http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/physics/pdf/0703/0703122v1.pdf)
It's fairly tough reading but actually quite interesting. Would be good to compare your own stats to the combined stats. Would be good to compare your own stats to the combined stats. He makes some assumptions that just cannot be upheld under scrutiny. q is the probability that someone goes all in. He states that q^2 is the probability that two people go all in. The probability that given that there has been a caller to the all in, there is 1/2 chance that the all in player will get knocked out. These are two sweeping generalisations that he uses to simplify the formula into a nice form but totally oversimplify the situation. Yeah i noticed that as well, i was more interested in tracking the progress of how the early CL's did. One can only assume he was playing on iPoker recently. |
