Title: Heigh Ho- Heigh Ho towards the mines I go Post by: boldie on April 10, 2007, 09:44:31 AM Well it's back to work for me..this poker pro stuff isn't working out at the moment..timing is everything I guess
The past few weeks have been dissapointing to say the least (down about 3k£) and the house seems to be falling apart around me (literally with washing machines, fridge freezers breaking down and taps just breaking down) so I've had a tremendous amount of bills unexpectedly come in. This combined with having a wedding to sort out (and pay for) I simply can't afford to play poker for a living anymore as my bankroll is the only money I have to pay for all them bills and bill paying is what it needs to be used for. The loss over the past few weeks has been due to some bad play on my part and some tremendous suckouts but a bad run was due to happen so I'm ok with that (as far as you can be OK with losing..which of course is never OK) as I did rather well the first few months I played. So back to work it is, respect to anyone who does this for a living and can cope with a sudden influx of bills. I reckon it's about the best job in the world and hope to get back to it soon. (It'll take a while to build the old bankroll up again though especially if my shitty MTT run continues (no wins in 2007 which is simply unbelievable) but I shall overcome and all that sort of bollox. I wil have to give up playing for a couple of weeks I think but that's the way it goes. sorry for this moany post but needed to get this off my chest. ok..on to the monster/gojobsite and make a few phonecalls Title: Re: Heigh Ho- Heigh Ho towards the mines I go Post by: thetank on April 10, 2007, 09:48:47 AM More fun as a hobby anyway.

Hope you dont mind me asking but have you been drawiing x amount out of your broll per week as a wage, or just as and when you need it? Just wondered how most full time players do it? As a leisure player ive allways spent all my winnings and never bothered about a roll as such. Title: Re: Heigh Ho- Heigh Ho towards the mines I go Post by: boldie on April 11, 2007, 08:45:30 AM GL Boldie, Hope you dont mind me asking but have you been drawiing x amount out of your broll per week as a wage, or just as and when you need it? Just wondered how most full time players do it? As a leisure player ive allways spent all my winnings and never bothered about a roll as such. I started with a few months worth of living expenses so didn't need to draw any money out of my bankroll in the beginning...and was building it up rather nicely. As and when I needed it I drew some money out (never letting myself drop below my original bankroll). The winnings paid for my living expenses and I tried to keep building the bankroll. I feel stability with the bankroll is the most important thing when you decide to play poker for a living. It's your source of income and you simply can not afford to lose it. I did draw money out at fairly regular intervals because of the mortgage and all that. Unfortunatly for me I had a downturn in fortunes over the past few weeks which saw my bankroll drop by 3k£ (not enough wins + plenty of buy-ins = drop in bankroll) but if that had been a solitary thing that happened that would have been one thing. Unfortunatly for me it happens at the same time as I have a ridiculous amount of money waiting to go out in the next month or so and I don't have the cash outside my bankroll to pay for them and continue playing poker. Spending all your winnings is fine but I would suggest keeping a bit of it and build up your bankroll a bit. If you play as a leisure activity you don't have to worry about how you manage a bankroll too much (as long as you only play with money you can afford to lose) but it is nice to know you always have money in your poker account and see that grow a bit now and again and know that whenever you want you can always afford to play a game. That way you can also treat yourself sometimes by playing a MTT that you ussually wouldn't play as the buy-in would be too high but that you've really wanted to give a shot for a long time. Good Luck and hope a job turns up soon. Title: Re: Heigh Ho- Heigh Ho towards the mines I go Post by: boldie on April 11, 2007, 12:51:33 PM Best of luck with whatever you do Boldie.
