Title: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: Rod Paradise on October 05, 2005, 10:11:30 AM Do Notts County exercise their right to only play in their home strip?
I'd have thought they'd want a change strip to sell more replicas. Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: Colchester Kev on October 05, 2005, 10:13:16 AM Seeing as they only have about 4 fans, i doubt they are that bothered about replica shirt sales ;)
Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: Colchester Kev on October 05, 2005, 10:16:43 AM And as for that claim that there are 4 women to every 1 bloke in Nottingham.... I doubt thats true, it just seems like it because every bloke in Nottingham seems to play poker all the time :) ..... if it WAS true, I would move there tomorrow .... even I MUST stand a chance of pulling with those odds ;)

Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: TightEnd on October 05, 2005, 10:21:23 AM I went to University in Nottingham.
At the time it was claimed that the Female:Male ratio was 5:1, I never doubted it This has some basis in truth, due to Nottingham's history in the manufacture of Lace I think it's a fabulous city. I lived in student digs in the Park and Lenton and go back as often as I can Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: Robert HM on October 05, 2005, 10:29:50 AM There are FAR more than 5 Notts County fans, at least double that number! I am one of them. I have supported them through thick and thin, since the early 70s and they have provided a roller coaster experience of promotions and demotions during that time. I had never heard about the right to wear a single strip and certainly have two sets of strips. The home strip is their usual Black and White stripes and this year there is an away strip of a rather fetching pastel blue :( Even before the wearing of team shirts was mandatory for supporters the club had two sets of kit. As an aside, did you know that Juventus play in black and white stripes because their first kit was donated by Notts County? And yes there are far more women in Nottingham than men, and most of them play at the City ground. Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: Junior Senior on October 05, 2005, 04:08:26 PM notts county could exercise that right if they wish as they are the oldest football league club but they dont. Imagine turning up at Newcastle for an FA cup tie and demanding the premiership giants swap to their away kit in front of the geordie faithful whilst the long ball part timers from the arse end of nottingham prance around in full magpie splendure! - this i cannot see!
juventus did wear b&w to mirror the bitter pies who donated their first kit and i belive there is a similar story to the origins of the mighty white of the galacticos real madrid as they were donated a kit by leeds united and the president liked it and from then on real played in all white. as for notts girls - there are a plentiful supply of beauts but many have foul mouths and hail from st anns and the meadows and will knife you soon as kiss you. - i kid not! everyday's a school day if you know me! Too many call me. ;D Can't really get too antsy with County fans. Quite a soft spot for them(Used to go down Meadow Lane when Forest were away in late 80s). Same here Simon, I used to go alternative Saturdays to the City Ground but my heart was always at Meadow Lane. Never felt the need to lower myself to go to Field Mill though Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: Phil on October 05, 2005, 05:08:32 PM Thought your were meant to be rivals!! I lived in student digs in the Park and Lenton and go back as often as I can All this applies to me too. Lived about 5 mins away from the Gala. Used to walk down Lenton Road at 3am after playing poker. Very dark, very scary. :o Title: Re: Re Notts County quiz question Post by: TightEnd on October 06, 2005, 12:50:04 AM I used to walk down the Lenton road at 5am after visiting "friends"
but then I was 20 years old and it was, unfortunately a long time ago Fantastic memories Unfortunately just as I was posting my earlier message about Nottingham University today I learned that my best friend from then, who I lived with for two years, died today of skin cancer. He had only been diagnosed on the day Liverpool won the champions league, and I was visiting him at the weekend :'( Events sometime provide the most tragic coincidences |
