Title: A million dollars from nothing
Post by: fearisthekey on April 14, 2007, 01:35:20 AM
Ok I finally found a site that gives me money to join up, this is great because if I build it up I will just keep going for higher levels, so what if I bust out it didn't cost me anything to begin with. It came through tonite, they gave me £6. I built it up immediately to £6.33. I aim to build it to £1M within 10 years, but I need some encouragement. If I make it I will buy anyone who supported me a free drink.

On a more serious point, what do you think of this kind of promotion? Is the scene so competitive now? Do they just know that most people who take the offer will lose the cash in no time and have to reload anyway?

Help me out I feel I can do this only with support.

if the site has a 1/2c table then you could build it into a nice roll given time

i did before i lost 3/4 of it

hello thank you you get the first free drink

I sat down at $0.10/$0.20 no limit is this too high? I suppose I had 55 big blinds is that too small?

I was inspired by Jesus. Mr Ferguson himelf did this $1 to $10K or something but he is very good I understand.

Free money, punt it.

Nowt to a cheeky mill in 10 years is great, but at 1c/2c you'll spend the first two years getting to £100.

Punt it, what's the worse that could happen. 10c/20c sounds about right. If you double a couple of times, move higher.

1/2c took me a couple of weeks putiing in a couple of hours a day to get to 100$ that i needed to move it to neteller

if you punt it you could lose it all in 1 bad beat slowly slowly catches monkey (not matt)

If you punt it you could lose it a fiver, but if you grind it you could lose a month.

but if you have no way of replacing that fiver online you lose your whole bankroll

there are as many no strings attached freerolls as there used to be

if i lose my whole roll online i wont be able to refill like most as i dont use my own money to play poker

i havent put a penny online or withdrawn anything

If you make it to 1 mil in 10 years, you will have enough for a packet of fags and a gallon of petrol.

Ok everyone gets a free sip of my beer in 10 years time lol.

Not wanting to bore anyone with a blow by blow account of my progress, it would be fun if some others tried this out and we see how we all get on together. In that case I'll spill the beans, I don't like spamming the site otherwise with offsite promotions. Its vcpoker dot com and you need to sign up to a cash account and put in the promotion code freecash but you do not need to submit your credit card details at that point, only later when you withdraw the million.

It will be nice to see how others get on, its one thing to have ten grand sitting to play about with, another scrapin it all together from a site's free handout.

I think you'll find that when it comes to completely free money people appreciate you posting it more often than not :)

I encourage folk to treat these bonuses as they should be treated, punt them mercilessly and quickly till you either go bust or have 50x the free money. (enough to be worth going through the rigamorle of cashing out when you haven't actually made a deposit)

I'll treat $25 completely free from a poker room the same I would from an online casino. Punt it, punt it, punt it.

They are gambling that you gets somehow hooked on their service while you do. More fools them, you can dodge it by gambling with your eyes shut and signing lalalalala.

Did you get your money, boldie?
I managed to build up to $52, so am out of $0.1-$0.2 land. Took some readjusting to the kind of play you find there.

Am blogging it here: http://youcalledwiththat.blogspot.com/

Just another $999948 to go :)

stick to 1/2c till you get to around 200$ think about it its only taken a few dys a few more and you will have a safety net if you go on a downswing then if you do start losing at 2/4c when you hit 100 go back to 1/2

Just signed up - not sure if I'm going to get any free cash with that code anymore, other than the $25 deposit bonus.  I'll check again in a few days.

The other advantage of playing the micro levels is that you get a chance to learn the game, and from your mistakes, before you lose your entire bankroll.

Then as you become more comfortable, and know what you're doing - and get used to the software, you can move up as your bankroll increases.

I started on the 5c/10c tables on VC with a £20 deposit.  Played at that level for quite a while until my bankroll increased and I understood what I was doing.  They were the lowest cash games at the time.  Now I'm at the dizzy heights of the 50c/$1 tables ;D

you are right tank - after 30 minutes three tabling at 2c/4c I only managed to lose £1.25.  I think i'm going to take the entire bankroll to a single 5c/10c table tonight and go for double or bust  :)up

online cash tables are soooo boring  ;sleep;  Just spunked off all the money I took to the table with some terrible play caused by boredom tilt.  Luckily I had kept $1 back for a turbo sit & go - £2.11 shipped.

Well I used mine yesterday..won 2 STT's in a row and played some cash to get upto 176$ by treating the tenner as a free roll and not paying any attention to bankroll bollox.
Ofcourse did it all in when my AK got cracked by AK on the 1-2$ table..money in preflop but nothing you can do when the flush hits.

It was good fun though

yep but you could still be having fun if you didnt follow the 88% way to have fun

lol true but I thought I'd try to get 1k in a day and go nuts with the free tenner. My serious poker wasn't played on VC. And it's a lot more fun to play that way than to grind away all sodding day. 9as long as you don't have to do it with your own money)

oh yeah..I enjoy those smaller games a lot more as well. (which is why I should never be allowed near a cash game again)  I meant the whole "feck it, it's free money untill I get a grand" experience
