Title: Vegas Trip report 6-15/4 Post by: Suited_Jock on April 17, 2007, 02:04:29 PM Probably not worth reading as I can't write for toffee but here it is
Vegas Trip Report in small chunks so as not to bore everyone .. stayed from the 6th april to the 15th. 7nts at IP and 2 nights at the plaza Travel Flew with American Airlines Peasent class can't grumble at £300 return tbh .. movies were Casino Royale/Dream Girls/Charlies Angels and In pursuit of happiness. Free Soft drinks should be standard on all flights in my opinion.. Rented a car from dollar for our last weekend there to go to various weddingy shops for the Mrs (we're getting married at the Venetian in September) It was a chrysler cruiser... which seemed that every second car we saw was one of them. On a side note Automatic cars are sooo much fun to drive kinda like go carts.. I manged to stay on the right hand side of the road the whole time as apposed to the left side of the road known over there as the wrong side. Hotels: Imperial Palace is as standard a hotel as they come however the room is huge length wise it seemed pretty weird as the space wasnt being used for anything also the bed was broken it was a King sized bed and I dunno if it was the springs or the boards on the bed but they slanted at one end Obviously in this age of shivalry and what not I chose the slanted side and didn't really get a good night sleep any of the time there, but who cares we are bang in the middle of the strip. Plaza They have changed it all since we were there last in spet 2005. The room we had looked like it was recently touched up.. Nice comfy beds CRT tv and a decent size. Only spent two nights here but was very comfortable.. I really like the old town however the two nights I went to the poker room there were no NL games.. Also on the saturday night when I went down they were closing the card room at 1am ... odd Poker Cash First full day is the saturday and I get free reign to go play poker for a few hours and its straight to the venetian where I buyin for $200 in the $1/$2 game there the buyin is $300 max but $200 covered the table.. I splash about a bit and am down about $75 when I win a nice pot with the nut flush to bring me back even... The table is breaking and is replaced with a lot of slow tight novices... the game is crawling along and I ask for a change... Get moved to what seems like a faster table and buyin for $300... flop a set of 5's in a 3way raised hand on a 52K rainbow board and get it all in against AA on the 7 turn and achieve stackage woot:) cash out for $639 putting me. Had another couple of breakeven / small loss small win sessions at the venetian. Played 1/3NL at Ceasers played very laggy for the 4 hr session went as low as $50 from the $200 buyin and as high as $500 cashed out for $203.. .grr Played 1/2nl when i should have been asleep at the IP lost about $100 through just playing tired.. A very happy gentleman sat down at our table who had just finished in the top 6 of the sunday million on stars (I forget his name moneyfiend or something) He had literally cashed that night and flew out to vegas to celebrate however he played for too tight in a $200 buyin game for someone who had just won $70k!! grr Last session was on the penultimate night of the trip at binions... Really enjoy it there and finished up +$170 after like 4hours. Tournaments: Gonna be short and sweet lasted like an hour in the two i played... Ceasers $70 Missed a flush draw in a huge pot then lost a flip to send me outwards lasted like 1.5hrs Venetian $200 bounty.. So So dead all tournie long... still think i was in decent shape at my bustout hand... blinds 100/200 I have 2500 of my starting 3500 and have played literally 2 hands which i won uncontested... Laggy player with 5k makes it 400 from the CO, Button and SB both call I shove KJcc from the BB Both the CO and the SB call (sb had like 5500) Flop is 9T2 they both set each other allin.... 44 for laggy CO and 98 for the SB... Im thinking how on earth did this become a 10k pot... anyway I misse and 98 rivers trips... bizarre busto hand.. Still think it was a pretty decent spot to lump them in. Shopping: During the week we do various shopping trips Fashion Show Mall/ Aladdin Mall/ Outlet Center I highly reccomended taking the shuttle from the MGM grand to the premium outlet malls out in Primm or obviously driving there if you have a rental because compared to UK prices wow its cheap.. in no particular order I end up with 4 pairs of jeans 4 polo shirts 3 jumpers and two shirts.. We end up buying another suitcase lol. I can conclude that shopping is highly -EV Shows X-Burlesque at the flamingo - only went cuz it was so cheap and we saw fantasy at the luxor last time.. it was really poor. Spamalot at the Wynn - Hilariously funny however I found that alot of people around me weren't laughing... do americans get british/monty python humour? Zumanity at NYNY - We wanted to see a cirque and this was cheap enough that we could justify it really enjoyed this. Folies Bergere at Trop - Mrs wanted to go see a show with showgirls and all the fancy costumes... It was also good to watch... we ended up seated right at the front and the soon to be Mrs Jock found herself assisting the half time comedian with his juggling act (she had to throw him an apple) laughed at him trying to pronounce Edinburgh (Ed-In-Burra not in Ed-In-Bro or Ed-In-Boro ) Bodies Exhibiton at the Trop - This was really cool it was pretty much just like that TV series we had about bodies where the scarey german in the hat cut people open.. It was just like that but only exhibits... enjoyed laughing at the pickled genetalia on display much to Mrs' unhappy looks. Food: We mainly ate at Wendys or Outback Steakhouse most people would see this as boring but the reason is they do have gluten free menu options as the future Mrs Jock suffers from coeliac disease (requiring a gluten free diet). Also tried Gaylord at the rio (do not eat the korma there it was really bad) and in and out burger which was fantastic. Title: Re: Vegas Trip report 6-15/4 Post by: Sheriff Fatman on April 17, 2007, 03:41:45 PM Wow, you found somewhere that caters for Coeliacs!!!!
We were there a few weeks ago and Mrs Sheriff (also a Coeliac) struggled like mad to get the message across anywhere. Ironic that the nation with the fussiest restaurant clientele in the world can't seem to cater for an increasingly common condition. Perhaps Mrs Jock and Mrs Sheriff can share notes on where's good/bad to eat over there. Nice report. I actually signed up for a LV celiac support group ( http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lvceliacsupport/ ) they have a forum and a whole bunch of menus etc was really helpful.
