Title: Re: My Lucky Day - Thank God for Microsoft (Poland) Post by: Spencer on April 20, 2007, 10:40:01 AM these kind of emails are known as 419 scams, id hand it over to the guy who runs 419eater.com, basically he goes round searching for the people who are trying to scam us honest folk, and basically plays along with there scams but terrorises them gradually wasting there time, and in some cases ive read he actually turns the tables and ends up scamming the original scammers out of there own money lmao, which he then donates to charity, check the site out some hilarious out comes to some, and to others he sometimes recieves deaththreats via phone conversations which he takes on the chin and basically uses it to wind them up some more.
Title: Re: My Lucky Day - Thank God for Microsoft (Poland) Post by: SuffolkPunch on April 20, 2007, 11:47:17 AM That 419eater website is HILARIOUS. The one example of their work I read had me laughing out loud - particularly the bit where they got the Nigerian scammer to create a video of the Monty Python parrot sketch.
If the mods will allow it, this is the link http://www.419eater.com/html/bigman.htm But be warned, you will need a coffee and a spare 20 minutes or so. Title: Re: My Lucky Day - Thank God for Microsoft (Poland) Post by: KingPoker on April 20, 2007, 11:55:30 AM What you gonna spend the money on?

Title: Re: My Lucky Day - Thank God for Microsoft (Poland) Post by: LLevan on December 08, 2008, 08:37:16 PM I recently received a cd with a banner poster stating I had been given £1000 to spin up in an hour from a certain Yukon Gold Casino sent to my home address. Looks definetely like a poker site selling on personal data which is very wrong IMO.
Title: Re: My Lucky Day - Thank God for Microsoft (Poland) Post by: DesD on December 09, 2008, 12:25:17 PM Its completely unacceptable if some poker site has sold that information. I received the same email from the imaginary John Dawson to both of my email addresses, with the first line of my home address in the subject line.

These people look after the Data Protection Act Obviously there are probably limits on what they can do to a company based outside of Britain, but also it's entirely possible that a site (or 2) has had it's data stolen rather than sold. |
