Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 04:32:18 PM I was expecting to come back and tell you about the swathes of bloodletting that has happened so far, but we've lost just three players. Three.
One of them was Anthony Romanello, his Aspades 8s being flushed out by Chris Flint's Kd Jd on a Qd 9c 7s 4d 9d board. Rudders has doubled up with A-J against Martyn Cavanagh's A-7, Seven on the flop but a Jack on the river. Matt Tyler has dropped 10k, the small blind pushed with J-3 and he called with A-3. Pesky Jack came on the board. Willie Tann just lost a chunk with Jacks against a set of 4's. Dana is on picturewatch. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 04:34:07 PM 5 1 Kensworthy, Guy 63775

Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 04:59:01 PM Willie Tann has knocked out Mick McCool with K-Q against K-J
Barry Neville is chip leader with 115k he's just knocked out Mike Lacey with Nines against Ace Queen, much to Flushy's delight, winning the latter £100. Speaking of Flushy, he was up to 25k purely from stealage, but now has just raised UTG, Warren Woolridge called from the big blind, the flop came Qc 6s Jd, Warren pushed with Qs 8s (he later said he making a stop and go, pushing any flop) Flushy called with Ks Kd and took him out. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 05:00:37 PM Stuart Rutter doubled up with Aces against PI Slade's Kings, before giving it all back when Slade hit trip Queens.

Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 05:43:23 PM Mickey Wernick is OUT - Stu Rutter raises Wernick's BB to the tune of 7k. Wernick moves in - actually there was some kind of brief string-bet controversy - but either way he's all in and they're both on their feet before the flop.
Mickey - Ad 9h Stu - Kh Kd Board - 5s 5d 7c Qs Jd Poof! And he's gone. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 05:44:31 PM I understand that Vicky Coren is gone too, her pocket nines not good enough.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 05:49:32 PM More double-up news -
Brendan Duffy has doubled up, although I didn't see the hand. And a vomitous rivery outdraw for Steve Fox against Matthew Mckinlay - on an Ad 8d Kh flop, Steve moves in and is insta-called by Mckinlay. Fox - 7h 7s Mckinlay - Ahrt Ks Turn - 3c River - 7c Amazingly, Mckinlay is all handshakes and laughing afterwards. If he didn't he'd cry, I guess. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 06:02:32 PM Hiding his shame, sitting between Steve Bovis and Rudders is the new chip leader. Yep El Blondie has about 125k. I spoke to Ian Woodley and Matt Tyler who Dave has knocked out, Dave had Kd Jd on a 9-high two diamond board and hit his King against Woodley's Queens, and then Dave raised preflop with erm....J-6, Matt pushed with Kings, Dave called (pot odds I'm guessing) and the flop was J-6-J! Now you see why he's slightly embarrassed...

Thanks for updates! More Rutter updates please! Ok, how about him doubling up with Aces against table chip leader's Ace King next hand. He's on 105k now, though Nick Slade wasn't too impressed with his celebrating. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 06:04:07 PM George 'WellChief' McDonald is very short, he knocked out a short-stack with Jacks against Fives but then had Kings against Ryan Fronda's Ace King suited, Ace on the turn.

Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 06:49:58 PM Chris Bruce has knocked out Chilli, Queens against Kings. Queen on the flop.
DC has knocked out Steve Bovis with Jacks against Sevens, and Rudders with Ace Queen against Threes. He's close to 200k now. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 06:56:51 PM Anthony Cartwright bets 5k on a spadealicious 2s 9s Aspades 5s board. Ryan Fronda raises to 20k, covering Cartwright.. Cartwright dwells for the looooongest time, initially sitting back in his seat in a we're-both-men-let's-not-play-games-with-each-other sort of way, then after a while leaning in towards Fronda a give-something-away-or-I'll-make-life-awful-for-you kind of attitude. Eventually he folds, showing Js. Fronda shows only his 2c, naughty boy...
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 07:06:51 PM Mick McCloskey, previously on about 100k, has bluffed off a few chips.
Flop - 8d 5c 6d - Mick bets 3k; the gentleman on the irght in the photo, who I think may be David Gross, raises another 7k. McCloskey calls. Turn - 3c, and they both check. River - now concentrate, here comes the bluffing bit - Ac and Mick bets 20k; Daveyboy calls. Mick - Js 7c Daveyboy - Ahrt 6h Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 07:23:51 PM Flushy just lost a chunk calling Willie Tann's A-8 all-in with A-Q. Hit his Queen but Willie four-flushed his Ace.
Rumit -- 57k Barry Carter -- 38k DC down to 175k, Barry Neville lost a bit too to a short stack racing A-Q against Jacks. Another table has been broken moving Neil Channing and Nick Hicks to the left of Chris Bruce. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 07:26:42 PM Blinds are up to 1500/3000/200.

Cuong Trinh's on about 32k. I saw him cheekily nick Katherine Hartree's big blind with a 3k raise... Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 07:35:03 PM Alan Vinnicombe tries to raise to 6k prefop but he just throws in a 1k chip and a 5k so it's taken as a call.
Flop comes 6h Qd Kc and big blind Pawan Nayyar bets 6k. Vinnicombe has to fold. "You can throw your ace away now," says Nayyar, showing Kd. Ouch. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 07:49:35 PM Richard Ashby has doubled up with Ahrt Ad against Ryan Fronda's Ac Qs. Jd Jh 6d 7c 5s board
Chris Flint has doubled through PI Nick Slade with 9h 9d vs Aspades Tc, all club flop, one of them being the 9c. But no change gave Chris the pot. Mick Fletcher doubled up through Maz Nahwab with Ac 7c vs Ad Td hitting on a 2h Ks 7s Jd 5s board. Fletcher then knocked out Nahwab with Aces against King Jack on a King high board. Neil Channing took out a short stack with Aspades Qs against 6h 6d, board: 7s 3s Kd 2s with 6c river to rub it in. Thanks to Nick Wright (dino1980) for that one amongst others. Katherine Hartree has doubled up with Queens against Anthony Nichols' Jacks. Nichols went out shortly after. 55 players left. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 07:57:46 PM great updates guys any chance of a chip count on nick slade plz any update on stu rutter please? ;karabiner; cheers very much The Psychic Updater rides again! Nick Slade is most likely on around 50k now after doubling up off of Stuart Rutter. Rutter raises preflop to 7.5k and Slade moves in for another 19k on top. Rutter thinks about it before decisively slamming the 19k over the line and announcing "I'm behind". He was in fact behind, holding Aspades 2s against Nick's 7d 7h. Board - Js 9h Qh 8h 8c Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 08:06:28 PM Day 1 chip leader Mick McCloskey is OUT, losing his entire massive stack in two fairly unfortunate hands. I found him with a cigarette by the slots and he told me his sad story.
The first Hand Of Disaster went like this. The button raised to 10k - he had about 45k total. Mick found himself holding A9, and raised the button all-in - call. The button was holding A5, but rivered a 7-high straight. Oh, the pain. The horrible horrible pain. Some hands later, Dave Colclough raised Mick's big blind. Apparently he'd been doing that a lot with any kind of filth, and so, finding AJ, Mick moved in. Which in retrospect was a very bad move, as Dave was that time holding AK. No sick outdraw, and Mick was gone. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 08:11:19 PM Barry Neville's on about 140k.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 08:20:53 PM Mick Fletcher just took out a player with Ace Jack against King Ten, hitting two pair. He has 149k, if he gets much more he'll be unplayable.
Rumit just chopped a pot with Aspades Ks against Ad Kh (2nd picture), although Rumit had a flush draw on the turn, I only mention this so I can use the (http://www.tinymeat.com/img/blog/karatechop.jpg) picture Finally, Barry Neville has knocked out Stuart Rutter with Kings against Aces. King on the flop. Neville over 200k. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 08:29:20 PM Finally, Barry Neville has knocked out Stuart Rutter with Kings against Aces. King on the flop. Says Barry: "You'd call me if I did?" Says John: "I can't tell you that." Barry sits back in his seat, his head thrown back and his eyes closed, completely immersed in the soothing boy band sounds in his earphones. Eventually he folds. John shows Ahrt Th. We are also on the BUBBLE so we're not allowed in until they're in the money. ;mc; Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 11:16:56 PM Blinds are now 3k/6k with a 400 ante.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 11:18:25 PM Adam Heller is OUT.
AK against Gavin Priestley's KK. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 11:18:49 PM DC has 390k, roughly 1/7 of the chips in play.
Mick Fletcher has 125k having doubled up Barry Carter with A-9 against A-A. "He played it well and got me," said Mick generously. Barry on 115k. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 21, 2007, 11:42:10 PM An extremely short Neil Downing (in stack size not height) is OUT, his 4-5 losing to Greek Jack's A-Q.
Rumit whose stack had dwindled has doubled up with Kh 8h against Willie Tann's Jc Js, spiking the King. The WSOP bracelet winner is very short now. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 11:44:59 PM Paul Rigg raises to 18k form the cutoff; Gary Chatterton (resplendent in terrifying orange Hawaiian shirt today) moves in from the small blind. Cuong (who by the way is on about 80k) folds the big blind. There is some lengthy consideration from Rigg before he calls.
Rigg - Kc Jd Chatterton - Ac Qc Board - Qh 6c 3c 7h 4h Chatterton does a little fists-in-the-air dance. Rigg veeeery short now, on about 30k. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 11:48:08 PM Flop - 8s 4s 2c
Paul Leckey bets 25k, and Richard Ashby moves in. Leckey folds fairly quickly. Ashby checks his cards again before throwing them back to the dealer. One last loving look at his beautiful beautiful cards, or quickly gloating over the rubbish he made a move with? Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 21, 2007, 11:57:55 PM They're on a short break now - I believe there are 23 left in. Brendan Duffy just went out in 24th. Official chip counts coming soon.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 12:05:13 AM Dave has 536k, which is between 1/5 and 1/6 of all the chips in play. He took 40k off Greek Jack (who has 205k) pushing him off Jacks with Tens, "I should've moved-in against him preflop," said Jack.
Btw, having knocked out both Chilli and Nick Hicks, we've renamed Chris Bruce, "The Scourge of Nottinghamshire". :D Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 12:31:35 AM Paul Rigg is out with Ahrt Kc against Cuong Trinh's Qh Qc
Board: Qd Aspades 5s Jh 9s Steve Laker doubled up with 9d 8d vs Greek Jack's Kd Qc, the board being 9-6-6-A-9 Willie Tann is OUT with Kings against Gavin Priestley's Aces. Mick Fletcher has gone, A-4 no good against Rumit's A-Q. Victor Kay knocks out Mark Jones with A-A vs Q-J. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 12:36:46 AM Victor Kaye raises to 20k (ahh ha ha, the punning potential that I will not rise to) from the cutoff. Cuong reraises another 25k from the small blind. Kaye folds. Cuong's on 158k now. He has his own fan club at the rail, too.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 12:42:31 AM Dave Colclough is completely at one with the poker Tao, effortlessly nicking everyone's blinds from every position, sometimes showing an ace, sometimes showing nothing at all, always maintaining his oneness with and winningness against all he comes into contact with. It's like poetry, man.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 01:01:38 AM Alan Vinnicombe is OUT, he made a push for 50k from the small blind with T-8, slight problem was that El Blondie had picked up Aces in the big blind knocking the South Westerner to the rail.
Richard Ashby -- 150k Alan Armitage -- 165k Rumit -- 140k Barry Neville -- 400k+ Two tables remain. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 01:21:40 AM Not a great deal to report right now, there's an awful lot of blind-nicking and cautious folding going on. Nevertheless, something must happen soon - blinds are up to 5000/10,000/800 and there are a few very short stacks, most notably Barry Carter, who folds every time Dave Colclough raises his big blind and nicks the blinds every time he's on the button. Have some photos though...
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 01:29:35 AM Barry Carter is OUT - Ac 8d v Greek Jack's Aspades Kc preflop.
Flop - Jc 6d 3d 9d Tc He'd been very short for a while - "I only need to double up 16 times and I'm back in the game," he said while they were reseating. Unfortunate, but he's done very well, given how demoralised he was in the first 2 levels. :)up Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 01:45:32 AM Barry Carter is 'Dave Shoelace' on blonde and a fellow updater, so well done to him. :)
Ryan Fronda pushed his short stack in with Q-9 and found Cuoung Trinh giving him a spin with 8-9, nothing hit for either and the Luton Xmas Cracker winner survives. Rumit has doubled up Steve Laker with Aspades 6h against Ac Qd. Queen came on the flop, though Rumit had the nut-flush draw on the turn but the river was a blank. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 02:03:29 AM Rumit is out in 17th winning £2,000
Having folded K-Q on the button after Steve Laker pushed from the small blind with A-Q. Rumit was short and pushed with Aspades 7s, Laker pushed with Ad Kc behind him. Board: 7c 6s 6d Ks 4h. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 02:07:10 AM Gary Chatterton is OUT in 16th place winning £2000 in probably punnable Gary v Barry scenario.
Barry Neville raised to 37k, Gary went all in; call. Gary - Qs Qh Barry - Ahrt Ad Board - 2s 9c 5s Jc 3h Farewell, that Hawaiian shirt. Plenty of opportunities left to lose it in the casino. ;hide; Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 02:19:26 AM Short break now then 6k/12k/1k will be the blinds and antes.
Barry Neville is chip leader with about 700k. Between him and Dave, they have almost 50% of the chips in play. Chris Bruce just doubled up with 6h 5h against Dave's Ace King. Ace and two hearts on the flop and the flush on the river. Barry just had a big all-in too, with Ad Kd against Cuong Trinh's Aspades Ks. But no flushes were even hinted at. ;kc; Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 02:26:43 AM Barry Neville is indeed chip leader, with exactly 688,500.

Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 02:35:25 AM Cuong Trinh is OUT, he had Ace King against Richard Ashby's Kings and failed to improve.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 02:49:26 AM Dave C raises to around 35k preflop, Gavin Priestley reraises for another 40 or 50k.

Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 02:52:18 AM Katherine Hartree is OUT, very short she pushed and Richard Ashby was committed to call in the big blind.
Katherine: Qd 9d Richard: Qs Ts "Make it interesting!" said Katherine. Flop: Td Aspades 2s Well err... not exactly what she wanted. Turn: Ac Queen for a split. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 02:53:30 AM Saw Richard Ashby pass pocket queens face up to a massive reraise form Barry Neville. Barry showed pocket tens. Kind of hand gives you indigestion just thinking about it.
Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 03:09:44 AM Alan Armitage doubled against DC, sb vs bb

Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 03:13:41 AM Dave, fellow DTD player Richard Ashby and Barry Neville are all uberstacked compared to the remaining 7 players. Why 7? Barry just called the push of very short stacked Paul Leckey with T-3 against Fours.
Board: Q-J-9-8-x leaving us with 10 remaining. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 03:21:24 AM ASTOUNDING more-than-double-up for Ryan Fronda. He is on the big blind, leaving him with only 18k. Richard Ashby calls, as does Barry Neville. No raise.
Flop - 4d 7s 7d Barry checks, Ryan checks, Richard bets 25k, Barry folds. Ryan calls, and turns over 7h 7c. Hilarity all round, except for Richard Ashby. Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on April 22, 2007, 03:23:09 AM And Alan "bigal" Armitage is also out, another victim of the Monstrous Dave Colclough. Details upcoming from Floppy.

Ahh ha ha, I stick fork in update before Floppy. See you tomorrow... ;stickaforkinme; Title: Re: Manchester GUKPT: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 22, 2007, 03:33:37 AM So that is everything. Final will start tomorrow at 5pm.
A quick conversation with a well-chuffed Chris 'Scourge of Nottinghamshire' Bruce, he was just happy to make the top 18 considering his chip count at the time but now finds himself on the final table and guaranteed at least £5,700. That's your lot. Head over to the WPT updates if you can't get enough... ;) See you tomorrow. ;stickaforkinme; |
