Title: Ashes to Ashes Post by: SuffolkPunch on April 22, 2007, 07:55:56 PM Having failed miserably to give up smoking when Tikay et al started their challenge last year, I promised myself I would do so when I hit 40. That time has come, and as of 4pm today I am a NON SMOKER (I've only lasted four hours so far :-) )
I am not taking this lightly; 20 years of smoking 20-30 a day is not going to be easy to let go. But I am determined to do so. So much so, that if anyone sees me smoking again I will pay £100 to their favourite charity. With the Blonde Bash coming up, I hope no-one will get me horribly drunk and stick a lit fag in my gob to claim the bounty! I thought I needed a "toy" to reward myself for giving up the ciggies. I reckon I spend £50 a week on the habit, so I am going to invest that amount in shares each week. The idea is that in ten years I should have a tidy little portfolio plus the benefit of little income from dividends. All very sensible, but it should be fun. Anyone else fancy giving up, feel free to join me! Title: Re: Ashes to Ashes Post by: Jon MW on April 22, 2007, 08:02:13 PM You should invest in tobacco companies - just for the irony
