they're immediately racing off the greens, as the blinds must be going up to 400/800 ante 100...? That's my guess. The screens are currently displaying just the number of runners and the seconds until kick-off.
What we do have (although I'll say it's provisional as there's an asterisk on the top prize) is the Prize Structure: 1st $3,970,415* 2nd $2,011,135 3rd $1,082,920 4th $696,220 5th $464,110 6th $309,405 7th $278,465 8th $247,525 9th $216,585 10th $185,645 11th-15th $154,705 16th-20th $123,760 21st-30th $92,820 31st-40th $77,350 41st-50th $61,880 51st-100th $46,410 Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 23, 2007, 08:36:05 PM Unlike most Day 2's, bedlam has yet to be witnessed, but we have lost David Williams.
Also out is Chris Moore, his shortstacked all-in move with 6s 6h running into the American Airlines of big blind Di Dang. Th Jh 9c 2s 4h, was of no help, Chris seemingly giving up by the Flop. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 23, 2007, 08:46:30 PM Robert Williamson III (not sure where the other two are) is OUT.
As reported by former table mate Michael Greco, Robert made an all-in move with 7s 4s after Alan Cutler had raised under-the-gun and Lonnie Heimowitz had smooth called from the small blind. Surprisingly, it was Heimowitz who took out the pro with A-K. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 23, 2007, 08:55:21 PM Several empty seats appear to be signaling that Nestor Ygborn, Ryan Daut, Bruno Fitoussi, John Esposito and Harry Demetriou have all be forced to take early baths.
--------------- Todd Brunson is OUT. His button raise with Queens was smooth called by the small blind who had Aces. A check-raise and call later and Comic Book Guy was sent back to the store. The assassin? Here's a clue... Duff duff duff duff duff. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 23, 2007, 09:20:42 PM Martin Wendt eliminates Doa Kim Bac and takes a little chunk from Steve Zoine after some fairly heavy preflop action...wish I could say who raised and who re-raised, but that would be pure guesswork as it was only when I saw Martin chuck in three blue 10k chips on the flop that I started paying attention...
With the blinds 400/800 there was around 50k in the pot as three players looked at the 6h 5h 2s flop. Steve Zoine and Doa Kim Bac were both shorter stacks than Wendt, who proceeded to bet out 30k from the small blind, which put the call-all-in decision on his opponents. A heavy consider from the former short stack, before a pass, while Bac looked so short he now had little choice but to call and fllip Ks Qs. Martin Wendt showed Jh Jc The turn and river: 5c 8s and he wins a tidy pot while Zoine breathes a sigh of relief that his laydown was, apparently, correct. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 23, 2007, 09:49:33 PM Marcel Luske flopped the stone cold nuts with T-9 on a J-8-7 Flop.
Unfortunately his opponents Turn a flush and sent the Dutchman packing. --------------- John Duthie is also OUT. Mateyboy raised it up pre-flop to 2k with T-9, John made it 8k with A-Ks and MB called. Ten high Flop, John pushed and failed to improve. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 23, 2007, 09:52:57 PM Jan Sjavik takes a pot off Lars Bonding, raising his bet out of 4,600 on a Ad 9h 7d flop to 11,500.

A-7 v Eights No help. ----------- Josh Arieh is also OUT. Top pair versus flush draw, flush hit. ----------- Peter Haslam has doubled up to over 100k, calling a pre-flop raise with 9d 6d, hitting a nice Td 7d 2c Flop, and pushing all-in after a pre-flop caller raised and the initial raiser re-raised. The first guy folded, whilst the second chap called with Aces. Diamond on the River gives Bullit Pete a great chance of progressing to Day 3. "Yeah, I got lucky and hit my card, but when I pushed it was easily enough to get them to fold." Kevin O'Connell 127k Surinder Sunar 47.5k Ram Vaswani 149k Roland de Wolfe 44k Stuart Fox 27k Roland says, "Can I ask you a question?" I expect, "Have you got a Nokia limited edition phone charger?" or, "How is Thomas Wahlroos doing?" or something, but no, it's "Which player who started today's name would score the most in Scrabble?" I think his attention span might be being tested today... Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 12:13:26 AM While talking to Praz, a hand developed on his table. Henry Rondon, who, according to Praz, hadn't played a hand all day up until this point, decided that now was the time, all in with A-9 vs the A-7 of Bill Ferrand...
The board 5-6-8.....Q-9 and a clearly disappointed 354th place finisher exited the room muttering, "Suckout" under his breath, while the biologist-amateur couldn't help one of those "Yess"s as the river straightened his raggy Ace. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 12:35:29 AM Rams double up to 150k was courtesy of a Kings v Queens confrontation. We believe it was all-in pre-flop, but either way, the Flop brought both players sets.
Jennifer Harman -- 46,000 Mickey Appleman -- 61,000 Phil Ivey -- 91,000 Jan Sjavik -- 123,500 Bill Gazes -- 22,500 Kathy Liebert -- 63,000 Padraig Parkinson is down to the felt after running bottom 2 pair in a higher two pair. Currently sharing a table with Jennifer Harman who had 46,000. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 12:49:45 AM Andy Black doubles up to 70k in a very odd hand:
Starting the day comparatively short with 22k, Mr. Black had about 34k when this happened: Jani Sointula limps under the gun, Andy limps, four more players limp for the 1,200 and small blind Phil Hellmuth makes it up. Eric Hershler in the big blind then throws in 20,000. Fair enough. Jani's not interested, but the Black stack is over the line faster than you can say, "All in." It passes round, and with only another 12k to go he gets a think for far far longer than anyone would have thought necessary seeing as the big blind's hand was Ac Ks... Andy Black shows Th Ts Flop: 3c Qc 7c Turn: 3s ("Red!" urges Andy even though some red cards are Aces/Kings - but the multitude of limpers suggest a couple might have gone) River: 5s Andy semi-rubs-down his slow caller: "You were thinking just to get me excited. I'm thinking I made a great play and then all of a sudden I haven't...") But it worked out fine for the short stack Irish chip-twiddler with the repetitious shirt collection. He's now definitely a nuisance to the bigger stacks on his, admittedly tricky, table. Gold hasn't though, recently doubling up Timothy McCarthy by moving in over the top on the Turn with a flush and straight draw. McCarthy called with Pocket Cowboys which held up come the harmless River. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 01:47:36 AM Gus Hansen is OUT.

Preflop Kevin raised to 7k, Tim made it 17k, Kevin repopped it to 34k at which point he was just called. Big pot already, when I got there and saw Kevin going all in on the 2d 8d 7d flop. Think, and eventual call for what must have been 100k+. Kevin O'Connell's hand: Ad Ac in almost ideal shape against Tim Phan's Qc Qd. Turn and river the completely-irrelevant-since-not-a-Queen Tc 7s and a big double up for the Dusk Till Dawn player, while Tim's back on 50k, what seemed like a lot of chips two days ago, but probably looks disappointing to him now (see photos). Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 02:17:19 AM Allen Cunningham is OUT. A-T vs. A-6 on a K-K-Q-4-T board, Jared Hamby with the A-T.
"I guess he thought he was splitting," said Hamby afterwards. ------------- Jamie Gold has doubled up off Praz Bansi, Praz calling a pre-flop raise with A-Q, betting the Flop and Turn on the Queen high board before calling an all-in on the Ten River. Jamie showed Tens for the Rivered set, Praz was gutted. "I had to call the all-in on the River, there were too many draws out there." Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 02:27:51 AM Dave 'Devilfish' Uliott is OUT.
Pocket Tens v Pocket Jacks means that he is no longer "rocking and rolling....... bebe." Also notable in his absence is the legendary Doyle Brunson, who joins his son Todd on the rails after failing to make any real impact in this year's event. Finally, a constantly shortstacked Erick Lindgren is now officially a gonna. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 03:07:17 AM Dusk Till Dawn's Kevin O'Connell is one of the WPT Final's chip leaders with 371,000 after finding Aces and being paid off in full by Queens.
-------------- Johnny Chan is OUT. Sevens v Q-T of clubs on a Flop of T-6-8 (one club), Mateyboy checked, Chan bet 5k and MB called. Turn brought the 4 of clubs, Mateyboy bet 15k, Chan pushed for 40k and MB called. No help on the River meant that the Tens held up. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 03:17:26 AM just got home, how is Mr Cool doing today???? Very well, in fact. After a disappointing drop to what sounded like 'Ninety thousand' after losing a QQ vs. AK race early on as well as another hand, he's done nothing but climb to a comfortable (to say the least) 250k or so. "I don't know exactly how much..." anyway, his garish blue shirt is a lovechild of the Mansion logo and the Tottenham Hotspur away shirt. Apparently he's been hanging out with the owner of Spurs and is quite proud of this creation. Well, he stands out from the rest of the cash room crowd, I'll tell you that. ______________________________________ Scotty Nguyen is OUT - a short stack, he got to the flop: 5d 7d Qd and checked when his preflop caller checked to him. Turn: 4c It was checked again, Scotty pushed in for what looked like less than 15k, and received a reluctant call. Matey: 8c 8h Scotty: Couldn't see, but it was one of Qc Ks, Qh Qc, Ks Kc etc. - paints, at least a pair (bigger than Eights, necessarily), no diamond. River: 6d Oh how cruel. Baby. A gracious Scotty exits the tournament area. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 03:36:38 AM Meanwhile, Barney Boatman is pretty chirpy, with his 200k... apparently the big boost to his chips came via this odd hand: He'd limped, so had one other guy, and the button raised. He called with 7c 8c.
Flop: T-8-4 He check-called. Turn: 5 Double check. River: Q And now his opponent bet 40,000 - which he called with his pair of Eights, at which he recieved one of those oh-so-gratifying instant mucks and a nice chunk of chips. _________________________________ Very Short Stack William Thorson triples up: He moved in for 16,400 preflop, and found a caller in Barny Boatman, who then had to wait while the player (in the top picture) in the big blind dwelled before re-raising a further 22,000. This wasn't all that much, actually, and that got Barny worried. After torturing himself for the minimum time, he passed (A-K) and the big blind's Qc Qd got to play against Thorson's all-in Aspades 8d. Flop: 9c 2h Kh (a bit of a frustrated table-slap from Barny) Turn: Ac River: 6h And somehow Thorson survived that whole thing to be back in it with nearly 50k. All-in pre-flop with Pocket Threes versus. Eric Deregt's Knaves. No help. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 03:56:13 AM Looks like we have a new chip leader in online superstar Sorel Mizzi who has made his way up to around 450k, most recently locking horns with Scott Fischman in what is perhaps one of the biggest pots of the tournament so far.
With the board reading 4h 3d Tc Ac, I joined the action with Sorel making a bet of 32k. Fischman called, albeit hesitantly, only for Sorel to ask that sometimes overused question, "How much do you have left?" come the Jh River. "About 105k," answered the double bracelet winner, to which Sorel replied, "Okay, I'm all-in." After a brief sigh, Fischman then asked the same question, albeit with slightly less confidence than his younger opponent. Acting rather nervously (acting, perhaps?), Sorel didn't really answer Fischman, at first merely implying that he had him covered. "I know you have me covered," continued Fischman, "but I want to know how many you have." Still not answering fully, Sorel pushed out a pile of blues and said, "Well, that's 100k there." Fidgeting somewhat, Sorel continued to look uncomfortable, but Fischman didn't seem to be paying too much attention to any potential tells or reverse tells, seemingly more focused on trying to work out the pattern of the hands and the series of events that had preceded the final all-in. After a while, he either decided that he was definitely behind, or simply didn't fancy sticking in his remaining 100+k without being sure, and so opted for a fold, exhaling, "Okay, it's yours" in the progress. A quick flick of the cards across the line (only just though), and we had what I believe to be our latest chip leader, but I was left wondering desperately what the prodigal Mizzi held. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 04:00:45 AM Scott Fischman -- 105,000

There was a raise to 7k, a call, an all-in for 125k from Beppe, but then a dreaded call from the small blind. Yep, Beppe had run Queens into Aces and was swiftly sent to the rail with a duff duff duff. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 04:09:56 AM æææææøøøøøøåååååå Can you give me an update on Jan Sjåvik please?? OK OK... something has happened to a lot of his chips, he's now down to 34,800 after this hand against Erica Schoenberg, who raised 3,200 which he called in the big blind. Flop: Ad Jh Qh Jan bet out 5,000, and got a pretty fast call. It all slowed down thereafter, with a check-check on both the 8s turn and the 4c river. "A very small pair," announces your man, getting ready to muck his cards, and sure enough, she shows a winning Jd Kc. He sits in exactly the same position a lot of the time. I actually accused Snoopy earlier of copying and pasting one of my photos, but he didn't. If anyone gets posture reads, they don't get them off this guy. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 04:41:38 AM Unbelievable. On the final count, of the night, who should I find threatening to "Take out Patrik Antonius..." who has over 400k himself than Mr. Roland de Wolfe. Incredibly, he's worked his way up from being all in with top pair against a five high flush draw on the flop (that was that hand against Alvarado) to over 500,000 in chips. I don't know, so I'll call him the Leader until I know better.
Players approaching the half million mark themselves: Phil Hellmuth, Patrik Antonius, Sorel Mizzi.... Final counts before the rush for the queue-jump: Alan Kessler 55k Pete Haslam 76.5k Humberto Brenes 53.5k JC Tran 32k Vinny Vinh 110k Jamie Gold 80k Alan Sass 60k Marc Goodwin 280k Andy Black 48k Isabelle Mercier 85k I am afraid we're fresh out of time, back tomorrow at 12pm...(8pm UK) ;stickaforkinme; |
