Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: LLevan on April 23, 2007, 07:22:26 PM I'm interested to see how Jaime Gold fares. Most people claimed he was a luckbox to win the Main Event but personally having watched it I think he actually played a good deep stack game. He's managed to more than double his 50k starting stack in this and he is 2nd chip leader at his table tonight. The 2 previous World Champs in Hachem and Raymer have many times since winning the Main Event proved very adept at playing deep stack tournies and I've just got a sneaky feeling that Jaime could go a long way in this tourney. That doesnt mean I like his table manner, far from it, I'm just interested to see if my inkling is right and that he actually is a good deep stack tournament player.

With the blinds 400/800 there was around 50k in the pot as three players looked at the 6h 5h 2s flop. Steve Zoine and Doa Kim Bac were both shorter stacks than Wendt, who proceeded to bet out 30k from the small blind, which put the call-all-in decision on his opponents. A heavy consider from the former short stack, before a pass, while Bac looked so short he now had little choice but to call and fllip Ks Qs. Martin Wendt showed Jh Jc The turn and river: 5c 8s and he wins a tidy pot while Zoine breathes a sigh of relief that his laydown was, apparently, correct. Anyway, here's a pic of Kjondal next to Flaminio Malaguti and then Barney Boatman. As you can see he's still pretty short after starting the day at the very bottom of the chip rankings. About to go back to rescout Room #2 - I would guess you should be expecting an empty chair or a doubled-up stack... We have one frustrated beagle, and next door a depressed Frenchman, while I am just focusing on the break in 10 minutes when I will be heading to the ice-cream/patisserie stand. Please bear with us regarding requests, as the ability to post our recently-discovered facts is touch-and-go.

My 10/3 shot never got there and now I'm doing what all sick people do in Vegas (playing online in my hotel room :-) ) Cheers, Joe Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 12:43:35 AM Mickey Appleman, who could pass for a 70's Swedish Tennis player, has 61,000.

After the hand, Ivey got up, high fived the crowd, whooped and hollered and jumped in Wasicka's face saying "How'd you like that, baby?! I had rags, n your face!!" Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration and he did in fact sit there motionless with a slight gormless look on his face, mouth slightly ajar. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 12:49:36 AM Andy Black doubles up to 70k in a very odd hand:
Starting the day comparatively short with 22k, Mr. Black had about 34k when this happened: Jani Sointula limps under the gun, Andy limps, four more players limp for the 1,200 and small blind Phil Hellmuth makes it up. Eric Hershler in the big blind then throws in 20,000. Fair enough. Jani's not interested, but the Black stack is over the line faster than you can say, "All in." It passes round, and with only another 12k to go he gets a think for far far longer than anyone would have thought necessary seeing as the big blind's hand was Ac Ks... Andy Black shows Th Ts Flop: 3c Qc 7c Turn: 3s ("Red!" urges Andy even though some red cards are Aces/Kings - but the multitude of limpers suggest a couple might have gone) River: 5s Andy semi-rubs-down his slow caller: "You were thinking just to get me excited. I'm thinking I made a great play and then all of a sudden I haven't...") But it worked out fine for the short stack Irish chip-twiddler with the repetitious shirt collection. He's now definitely a nuisance to the bigger stacks on his, admittedly tricky, table. If he re-raises you pre-flop which he often does in these deep stack events, he'll undoubedtly bet that Flop. I caught an example of this just moments ago, Phil re-raising an opponent from the cut-off from 4k to 15k before betting 15k on the 6h 5s Ts Flop. Mateyboy folded and Phil added a few more chips to his stack. Ivey is currently on aorund 150k and starting to look very dangerous indeed.

He got it wrong on the last hand though, and has dropped down to 60k as a result. Didn't quite catch the board, by I saw Hamby stick in a bet on the River only to muck instantly when he was called. His opponent initially tired to fold without showing the winning hand, but he was made to reveal his A-Q for a mere Ace High. Then ensued the oh so familiar "I've just been called with Ace High" dialogue exchange. "Nice hand." "Thanks" "I knew you had nothing" "Yep, but my nothing was bigger than your nothing." Matey: 8c 8h Scotty: Couldn't see, but it was one of Qc Ks, Qh Qc, Ks Kc etc. - paints, at least a pair (bigger than Eights, necessarily), no diamond. River: 6d Oh how cruel. Baby. Sevens v Q-T of clubs on a Flop of T-6-8 (one club), Mateyboy checked, Chan bet 5k and MB called. Turn brought the 4 of clubs, Mateyboy bet 15k, Chan pushed for 40k and MB called. No help on the River meant that the Tens held up. "I thought it was rubbish play," commented Michael Greco who witnessed the action unfold. "He must have won those bracelets when there were only three entries." Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 03:25:01 AM Meanwhile, Barney Boatman is pretty chirpy, with his 200k... apparently the big boost to his chips came via this odd hand: He'd limped, so had one other guy, and the button raised. He called with 7c 8c.
Flop: T-8-4 He check-called. Turn: 5 Double check. River: Q And now his opponent bet 40,000 - which he called with his pair of Eights, at which he recieved one of those oh-so-gratifying instant mucks and a nice chunk of chips. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 03:36:04 AM Very Short Stack William Thorson triples up:
He moved in for 16,400 preflop, and found a caller in Barny Boatman, who then had to wait while the player (in the top picture) in the big blind dwelled before re-raising a further 22,000. This wasn't all that much, actually, and that got Barny worried. After torturing himself for the minimum time, he passed (A-K) and the big blind's Qc Qd got to play against Thorson's all-in Aspades 8d. Flop: 9c 2h Kh (a bit of a frustrated table-slap from Barny) Turn: Ac River: 6h And somehow Thorson (in snow-white hoody) survived that whole thing to be back in it with nearly 50k. Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on April 24, 2007, 03:56:04 AM Looks like we have a new chip leader in online superstar Sorel Mizzi who has made his way up to around 450k, most recently locking horns with Scott Fischman in what is perhaps one of the biggest pots of the tournament so far.
With the board reading 4h 3d Tc Ac, I joined the action with Sorel making a bet of 32k. Fischman called, albeit hesitantly, only for Sorel to ask that sometimes overused question, "How much do you have left?" come the Jh River. "About 105k," answered the double bracelet winner, to which Sorel replied, "Okay, I'm all-in." After a brief sigh, Fischman then asked the same question, albeit with slightly less confidence than his younger opponent. Acting rather nervously (acting, perhaps?), Sorel didn't really answer Fischman, at first merely implying that he had him covered. "I know you have me covered," continued Fischman, "but I want to know how many you have." Still not answering fully, Sorel pushed out a pile of blues and said, "Well, that's 100k there." Fidgeting somewhat, Sorel continued to look uncomfortable, but Fischman didn't seem to be paying too much attention to any potential tells or reverse tells, seemingly more focused on trying to work out the pattern of the hands and the series of events that had preceded the final all-in. After a while, he either decided that he was definitely behind, or simply didn't fancy sticking in his remaining 100+k without being sure, and so opted for a fold, exhaling, "Okay, it's yours" in the progress. A quick flick of the cards across the line (only just though), and we had what I believe to be our latest chip leader, but I was left wondering desperately what the prodigal Mizzi held. OK OK... something has happened to a lot of his chips, he's now down to 34,800 after this hand against Erica Schoenberg, who raised 3,200 which he called in the big blind. Flop: Ad Jh Qh Jan bet out 5,000, and got a pretty fast call. It all slowed down thereafter, with a check-check on both the 8s turn and the 4c river. "A very small pair," announces your man, getting ready to muck his cards, and sure enough, she shows a winning Jd Kc. He sits in exactly the same position a lot of the time. I actually accused Snoopy earlier of copying and pasting one of my photos, but he didn't. If anyone gets posture reads, they don't get them off this guy. P.S. Yes, that's very clever you can type those letters - what I was asking was the key combination on a regular PC laptop to shortcut it ;) Title: Re: WPT $25,000 Final: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Djinn on April 24, 2007, 04:10:44 AM What time u due to finish guys? On the final count, of the night, who should I find threatening to "Take out Patrik Antonius..." who has over 400k himself than Mr. Roland de Wolfe. Incredibly, he's worked his way up from being all in with top pair against a five high flush draw on the flop (that was that hand against Alvarado) to over 500,000 in chips. I don't know, so I'll call him the Leader until I know better.
Players approaching the half million mark themselves: Phil Hellmuth, Patrik Antonius, Sorel Mizzi....
