just read on the Pokerzone forum that PNL will air it's last show on 31st May.

a sad day   :'(

Yes, a sad day. We were all contacted personally by Sam Orams yesterday to tell us the news - very good of him to tell us all one-to-one I thought.

The shows will contunue as normal until the end of Apri, & it will be "repeats" in May.

Basically, they could not find enough sponsors for the show, & it's been a bit of a struggle the last few months.

The intimacy of the show, & the freedom which the Presenters of the show were given, made it a hugely enjoyable experience. Rescue attempts are in hand, & let's hope they succeed.

I will be very sorry to see this programme go.
It helped my education in the game so much and had a good mix of presenters with differing playing styles.
Cas and Nicks "discussions" were worth watching even when poker was the last thing on their minds.

Hope it can be saved in some form.

Gutted, just gutted.

Indestructable is receiving counselling due to the show closing..... it ranks alongside 321 and the golden shot as programmes that he will never be able to appear on.... Get well soon Ed :)

Absolutely gutted. The writing was on the wall with various repeats and on one day and not the next which left viewers including me not knowing when to watch. Had hoped that they could find a solution, but never really understood how the channel could actually make money.

It was because of PNL that I first saw Tikay.

It was one of those good news / bad news days.

The good news - If I hadn't seen Tikay on PNL, I'd never have come over here, & bumped into all you great people.

The bad news - I saw Tikay.  Nightmares for weeks.

It is a sad day though.  This is probably a blimmin stupid question, but how much does a program like pnl cost.  I mean, they seemed to be doing ok, until Tikay came along with his inflated wages.  Three months later, they're in financial doodoo.

I am not surprised, PNL didn't really evolve and move with the times, hope all the presenters find equivalent slots :)

Absolutely gutted about this as it's one of my favourite programmes. Lets hope the Sky Open makes more use of the PNL presenters rather than ex comedians (no disrespect intended) and focuses a bit more on the theory rather than just commentary as tends to be the case now

The show was really great, they avoided the temptation to talk a lot of crap and put in a lot of good theory and a great mix of programs, I would personally sign up to any site they were sponsored by just to keep it running.

So much bad commentary elsewhere on poker telly.

Tony Kendal - the Terry Venables of the poker world. (It's Kendall" with two "L's". Think "balls").

The absolute ultimate in back-handed compliments. Venables is a God in the bull**** department, shady in his financial dealings, & gets paid an arm & a leg for doing naff all. I guess you rumbled me then.

I actually well remember Terry Venables when he was playing, initially for Chelsea, then at QPR. Lovely player, with a deft touch. Crap manager though, in the Ferguson/Keegan/Mourinho mould - "give me x millions & I'll buy you some trophies". Give me a Curbushley/Alec Stock/Allardyce any day. Proper Managers them.

Venables...crap manager ?? sigh that shows you up for being a brentford fan ... you obv know naff all about football.

Keith Burkinshaw was a proper manager, never took any shit from the money men and did it his way. met him too....smashing bloke and very down to earth.

10 years ago, yes. Now, no, he's just a fat cat. Give me the budget he & Mourinho has & I'll buy any team a few trophies.

Look for the guys that can do it on person-skills, not by flinging cheques around.

Erm and the point about Mourinho is that he won the champions league and uefa cup with porto with no money relative to other teams in the competition. Both are now managers of top teams as they have proved themselves elsewhere, as with alot of things the top managers are with the top teams this is no coincedence.

Tikay I would bet you any money you couldn't manage Chelsea and Man Utd to anywhere near the success of their current managers and to say so is flippant and wrong.

Well yes, it was flippant, & it was wrong, but I was making a point. Management success via the Cheque Book does not impress me, not one iota. In the days of Bob Lord at Burnley it worked the other way round. Breed players, scout for them, "make them", survive in the top flight AND sell all the talent they discovered & nurtured.

And for all you Fergie fans.  I hope you give daily homage to that great Liverpool team of 1990.  If they had taken Palace seriously in the semi, it wouldn't have been such a rediculous final.  Man U in those days didn't have the bottle to beat Liverpool.  They only just scraped past a team they should have stuffed.  That was Fergies last chance, and good on the guy, he grabbed it with both hands.

English football today would be totally different if only Liverpool could defend when it matters.

James Browning has announced on tonight's show that as well as PNL finishing that this is his last show ever.
I have always found him an entertaining and informative presenter and must admit to feeling a little  :(

Yes I thought I was a tad unfortunate - that poker table would have looked nice in my lounge! Were you in the tourney last night?

But Surely Ferguson proved he could do that with St Mirren and even more so with Aberdeen

and Mourinho proved he could work on a small budget with Porto and won back to back European trophies (UEFA Cup 2003 & Champions League 2004) which for a team from such a small country is a staggering achievement in the modern era.

Ferguson & Mourinho have more than earned their stripes with smaller clubs Hence the reason the big boys came looking for their services.

Man Utd had gone more than 20 years without winning the title before Ferguson arrived so it can't have been that easy a job to manage Man Utd can it?
