Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: kinboshi on April 26, 2007, 11:24:44 PM Is it going to be an email sent from your email client, or a form on the APAT website that sends the email in? I guess it has to be the latter, otherwise there's the potential for all sorts of issues with emails sent but not received due to ISP issues, spam filters, etc.
:dontask: Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: dougal7878 on April 26, 2007, 11:37:25 PM Either way...there is going to be some serious moaning...... not by me of course!!!!! Like the way APA are trial n' error lots of buy-in clauses....non of which anyone is happy with......it should be stamped address envelopes next!! That could occur if a large number of players were at an early stage of the payment process on Metacharge as the 103rd player completed his transaction.
APAT do not envisage needing to use this method again, as we hope to move to regional qualifying for the domestic tournaments in season two. APAT did not feel it appropriate to run a consecutive member draw either. The next phase of the APAT website developement will remove the potential to oversell. The 103 seats will be allocated in strict order of receipt by APAT, ie order within inbox. That can easily be independently verified. Please work with us everyone. We are doing our best to work with the tools at our disposal in season one. Cheers, Des. Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: FlyingPig on April 27, 2007, 12:06:38 AM Des,
With you mentioning regional qualifiers, this is something that you have thought about and decided it will be an avenue to explore. Will under these proposals seats be allocated pro rata per region/members Will people from scotland be able to enter qualifiers in other regions.. Or will the be 25% seats scotland, 25% seats wales, 25% seats Egland, and the rest online. If so I am off to scotland... Ironside, Suited Jock... easy get in up there.... Seriously though Des, could you enlighten us a bit on your thought and ideas for this type of qualyfying... However, APAT do intend to review all elements of season one and there will be opportunities for member input prior to final decisions being made. Details to follow. i aint traveling to enter a sat to win a £75 seat the nearest casino to me is 90 minutes drive away driving back from this would be a nightmare the chances of getting a quailfier there with enought people to play nil the next nearest is 3 hours away meaning an over night stay costing as much as the seat i win people who live further north than me would be even worse postion so regional and internet quailfing only would see me leaving the tour there has to be options to buy in direct Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: kinboshi on April 27, 2007, 09:18:06 AM Also important that the qualifiers follow the general idea of the APAT of decent play - and aren't bingo-fests with super-quick structures, etc.
Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: Ironside on April 27, 2007, 12:44:26 PM Also important that the qualifiers follow the general idea of the APAT of decent play - and aren't bingo-fests with super-quick structures, etc. yeah making qualifing even less cost effective for those amateurs infact make the qualifiers 2 day events Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: kinboshi on April 27, 2007, 01:39:18 PM Also important that the qualifiers follow the general idea of the APAT of decent play - and aren't bingo-fests with super-quick structures, etc. yeah making qualifing even less cost effective for those amateurs infact make the qualifiers 2 day events You know what I meant. Having the qualifiers as bingo-fests means that they might as well go back to the draw. Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: RichD on April 27, 2007, 02:58:36 PM I like the way its done at the moment rather than regional qualifiers, it does seem like the people who REALLY want to go..always end up with a seat if they try hard enough.

Exactly, Summed up in one post, DONT FIX SUMMAT IF IT AINT BROKE!!!!!!! Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: dustyfinish on April 27, 2007, 03:18:04 PM Re qualification: maybe a sit and go can be held at ireland for seats into season 2 events for the reserve listers who turn up on the day and dont manage to get a seat.
The top 3 etc could than be awarded a seat for an apat event in season 2 of their choice you could then hold similar sit and go's at the season 2 events for the next events and at least ther reservists who turn up on spec may have something to play for. Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: Rozza1 on April 27, 2007, 10:30:21 PM i definately think random draw from all members has been the fairest way of allocating seats
Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: RioRodent on April 28, 2007, 09:33:34 AM i definately think random draw from all members has been the fairest way of allocating seats Whilst it may be 'fair' in as much as everyone has the same chance of being drawn and getting a seat. I can't agree that it is the best way... you have the possibility that someone never* gets a seat for any of the tournaments they want to play! *I suspect that 'never' would only need to one season for most people... I would certainly think twice about joining for another year if I had not been 'lucky' enough to secure a seat in any of the tournaments I wanted to play in. Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: Jon MW on April 28, 2007, 11:03:42 AM i definately think random draw from all members has been the fairest way of allocating seats I can't agree with this due to the fact that ... it does seem like the people who REALLY want to go..always end up with a seat if they try hard enough. Some people have said, for example, that they can't try to click to register to enter at certain times because of football. To me that just means that they don't REALLY want to go. Obviously there are some occasions where people really can't avoid not being around for a registering process, but you would have to be very unlucky for this to happen more than once or twice in a season - and if you're that unlucky you're just going to get knocked out with an outdraw if you did play :) As such I don't think that a random draw does represent fairness at a practical level. Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: nosey-p on April 28, 2007, 11:19:00 AM i have all ready told the Mrs that i have a seat
unfortunately she is busy that weekend so i will have to go by myself (seat or no seat) o'well i suppose i will have to live with that Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: ThinkerJE on April 28, 2007, 05:06:13 PM Flights booked (ryanair only £20 return from brum), hotel booked. well there will be after winning online satellite on Stars, see everyone there! I could also do with the cheap hotel list as babymonkeyboy probably wont give me much of a spending budget :D Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: Paullie_D on May 01, 2007, 09:41:20 AM I could also do with the cheap hotel list as babymonkeyboy probably wont give me much of a spending budget :D In the centre of Dublin (esp. near the Fitzwilliam) the hotels will be v.pricey. A better option is out by the airport (Holiday Inn Express for instance is only €257 for 3 nights). Taxis are around €25 into town but obv. sharing these cuts the cost. Booked! 7h 2c Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: matt674 on May 01, 2007, 10:17:48 AM yup, was cheaper as you got closer to airport - booked twin room at Days Inn near the airport for €89 for the saturday night, which works out at about £30 if i can find someone who doesnt mind fleas and discarded banana skins to share with :D
Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: Laxie on May 01, 2007, 10:22:00 AM You could also try searching through the self cater apartments in Dublin...and if a few of you crash in one, it'll be dirt cheap.
http://www.staydublin.com/?gclid=CNrL5KfQ7IsCFSLiEAodS18tPA Not sure what the one in Dublin is like, but I got a special offer in the mail the other day for the Choice Hotel Group...here's the link to their special deal: http://www.staylongerforless.com/ Good Luck! Well, we have a caravan that we park by the beach in the summer for the kids, but we haven't moved it yet. Only problem...we live on the Cork/Kerry border and it's a long drive to Dublin with a caravan in tow. Maybe you could bring a tent and find some bit of green at the back of the Fitz? Title: Re: APAT Ireland Post by: mickyp on May 01, 2007, 04:57:50 PM Just read on another post theres no drinking in the fitzwilliam.
