Thanks for the concern Colchester Kev!!! Nice to show you have the same level of concern for one club closing and another that can't get their license!!!

Not exactly the same thing is it though. Rob's club is an attempt to do things WITHIN the law.

My guess, and i may be wrong, is that you are closing down an ILLEGAL club, as such sympathy is not exactly likely to be forthcoming.

I just beieve the most likely case until the owners post the real reason, is that flushys comments are probably right!

Why on earth do they have to give the reason for closure?

They don't of course but if its for the reason that flushy stated then its hard to be sympathetic!

I don't feel any request for sympathy was made. Quite simply would you like to buy some poker kit?

Sometimes it feels like because people are typing comments from the comfort of home that its okay to be rude, would you have said the same things face to face?

Personally i would be happy to say anything to anybody's face.
If ur talking about people being rude do you think DonnaM would have been as rude to tighty in person as she was in this thread??

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who has simply offered some goods for sale which might be of interest to folk here. They have no need to give an history of the whys and wherefores that things have become available.

If you may wish to purchase, as in purchasing anything, you may well ask the reason for sale and expect to be given a reply.  This would occur by Pms amongst the seller and purchaser, if indeed it was felt necessary to raise the question in the first place.

Yes, Tighty asked the question in a polite way but understood that it may not be something to be discussed on the forum, or felt to be necessary to be discussed "publically" except with their clientele. I am sure he did not really feel offended by the reply and put up a light-hearted response himself - end of story.   Understandably, the owners could be most upset and under some stress in dealing with a closure of something they will no doubt have worked hard for. So maybe a little patience and understanding in replies would not go amiss as opposed to what seems like a need to dig and delve and make a mystery out of something that is not at all necessary to pursue.

Is there not some more engrossing daytime tv you could be watching just now, KingPoker?

 

I only asked if it was PokerNitez cos they haven't been open the last couple of weeks. I was really hoping and still hope that it's not PokerNitez selling this stuff off cos it was/is a really good venue. (plus it's local)

Fair enough question and concern, Maddog.  It sure looked a really nice place.

Just as people probably arent as "rude" in real life, I hope people dont take everything as seriously when away from their keyboards.  This post was to sell poker equipment, the lack of information about the sale led to a few obvious jokes (THM forum has same post and jokes) and thats about it. 

Valid point, Pokerron, and yes, I do have a sense of humour.  I just felt KingPoker was pushing and stirring unnecessarily so. I may have done a Tikay "misread".

As far as licensing was concerned we didn't need one as it was a home game held in someones house. Unfortunately MADDOG it is Pokernitez and thankyou for your kind words. Tightend I wasn't being rude and hope you did not take it that way, but it isn't something that we feel everybody needs to know however if anyone asks us in person face to face we will happily tell you.

That's exactly why I went on  to say questions could/would be asked between purchaser and seller.  A valid point wondering where the goods had come from in case they had been obtained illegally.  However, if you read this thread it was obvious that Tighty knew the people and the venue concerned.

I don't know why flushy has his knickers in a twist about "illegal" clubs. Maybe he's good friends with people in the casino industry????? The way I see it is we play poker, a bit of competition must be a good thing.

I didn't see flushy say haha to DC when he lost 25K investing in an "illegal" club.

To me it's like saying ZOMGWTF you went 1mph over the speed limit, that's illegal!

If you read the thread, sure there was banter, there were also allusions and assumptions to illegalities... basically it is understandable that maybe the originator was miffed with the responses.  It could be a bad day for them.  I just felt there was no need to pursue the whole business unless you were going to purchase items..

The originator has given a response and let's leave it at that.

And its again hard to feel sorry even if you take out the bits about the original poster being snappy, then all you have is a non-regualr poster who has brought nothing to the forum doing some free advertising!

page 1 it was a poker club, page 2 it was a home game, and king poker is right, almost all the posters previous posts have related to the club/homegame.

blonde is supposed to be a flame free zone but the occassional sly back-hander still occassionally gets thrown.

KingPoker, I appreciate that they have not been an active member of the forum but the venue was known by Blonde and an article had been written about them when they opened.

Personally I couldn't give a stuff whether it was a legal or illegal poker club. All I'm interested is whether I can pick up a bargin and have made an initial enquiry via PM.

I know Donna and Allan who ran the club well enough from playing regularly against them both. Very good players both. I only asked the question as I was interested, being involved in the business of poker as I am these days. No axe to grind. Next time I see them I will ask face to face as requested

Aren't the Gutshot and The Weston illegal poker clubs, and almost every other poker club in the uk?

I think it's always sad to see a popular and well-liked poker club close, regardless of it's legality.

My general point was one of respect- something i felt was badly lacking and I FELT i had to voice my opinion. It's an issue thats been getting worse on here for some time IMO and i find it quite sad.

If someone only uses blonde to advertise there home game/club game golf game whatever- surely it helps blondes? Theres spam and there's spam. This is the poker informaton mecca, and if it creates more traffic and that helps fund blonde FANTASTIC, especially if we can still get the BEST live updates on the net.

We all have diverse opinions which makes blonde the best, and a moral soap box isn't very steady with me on top, all i wanted was for the origional poster to be treated with respect.

I for one get far more from blonde than i give.
