Recentley got back from the Costa Del Sol and could be an idea for any Bb5 plans (cheap flights when booked in advance). My latest blog entry may be of interest if anyone going out there this summer....

Figures first -60 euros down at poker overall for the trip to Spain.
Stayed in La Cala not far from Marbella in the Costa Del Sol and played a lot of golf while out there (50/60 euros a round!). Mostly good weather and survived the flights which is always a bonus. On arrival spotted Paul Kaye (Strutter/Dennis Pennis) who I think is a comedy legend.

So to the poker, a great bar is about 5 mins drive away and they start an mtt every night at 8, normally between 25-30 players. These are unlimited rebuys for the 1st hour and you start with 2k chips, a lot of the players are regulars who dont mind spending 200 euro in the 1st hour!! (in the 20 rebuy). Split the 10 r after a couple of nights for 250e, and bubbled and cashed some small ones a couple of times. But the 20r was the one to win, alas I lost with a/a v 9/9 pre flop one night when down to 7 and other games it just wasnt happening.

My last game at the "Sit n go" bar was a killer. Rebought once in the 1st hour plus add on, and doubled up a couple of times, get to the final table and knock two players out. 1st 800, 2nd 600...paying to 5th. 6 players left I find q/q raise 7k with blinds at 2k (on 30k) 2 callers, flop j92 I bet 10k, one fold but another call, next card 4, I push all in another call he flips a/7!!!!
Whammo the ace hits and I am gutted, would have been big chip leader and looking at a good profit for the trip. For the money we were playing for this was unreal, the other player folded a/q so he was pretty miffed aswell. I had 3k left and moved all in with k high, alas I bubble and leave at 2am for nothing....ooofff.

Still its a great club in Cala Honda if your ever near with friendly Finnish staff and mostly English ex pats. On a rainy saturday afternoon was playing a 50e freezeout when who should walk in but Mickey Pearce from Only Fools And Horses! asks if theres a game going and he hangs around for another game, couple of shouts of "Mickey!" from a few people at the bar and he sits down for an stt to my right. He loves poker and he plays full time now, travelling around the world, I re-raised him out of a pot which I enjoyed and called him a plonker (only kidding!). He ended up staying all night and was a good laugh and friendly to all.....

On a visit to Peurto Banus in Marbella went to Linekers Bar and was sure I recognised the barman, free Buds! turns out it is Dave who I used to deal with when I was Stores Manager, he ran a pub in a village near Selby, now manager of Linekers and bar opposite! A bud here is 7 euros a bottle which is mad, but ok for Robbie Savage and Carlton Palmer who I see in the bar. A proper night out with nightclub/taxi would be 200 euros plus here. Is always worth a visit for us paupers and a look at the Ferraris etc.
