We're just looking for some feedback, in the aftermath of the last blonde bash, as to whether it's worth considering changing the format for the next one to a 2 day event.

1 day event - Same as before, get it over on the Saturday night.

2 day event - Slightly later start on Saturday afternoon perhaps, final table come back on Sunday afternoon to finish it off.


Please feel free to post your thoughts on this matter.

When we say 2 day event, that doesn't necessarily mean a 2 day main comp.

Running the blonde bash over 2 proper days, main comp on Sat, HU on Sunday for instance.

Open to suggestions please.

What's the thinking here?  To keep the momentum of the bash carrying on to the Sunday, rather than it all effectively finishing when people (eventually) go to bed on Saturday night (other than the quizzers)?

Having the heads-up on the following day would certainly be a decent idea, making it more of an event than a side-show.

Have all the previous bashes been 1-day events?

All bb's so far have had the focus on the Sat, with 'side' events of the Quiz, footy, and the HU comp.

Size wise they are getting very large, we would welcome peoples thoughts as to how they would feel about running over 2 days, whatever that may be.

One day obv.

Need the first day for going out and getting smashed and seeing a new towns nightlife.

quite a few motivations behind this, to at least ask people


the HU comp in particular takes a lot of work, and with it on a Sunday instead it would free up a lot of mod time for other stuff on the Saturday night

we could do a main comp final on the Sunday, allowing a later start on the Saturday...or just a comp on the Sat, HU on the Sun. Would people stay for a HU comp. I reckon maybe half the field goes by Sunday am, would be nice if people stayed longer....

we could do other things apart from football or a quiz (both though were great this time), or perhaps not. Open to suggestions

I prefer the main event to be over on saturday as in Gingers post. I've attended three of the four bashes and have travelled home that night. I prefer that to staying over.

course, if it's at DTD you can do whichever for me  :)

Having the heads up on the Sunday would mean that it's much more of a team event.  As it was at BB4 with players in a team still playing in the main event, it wasn't until the later rounds (when we were out...) that team members were able to support other team members and turn it into a proper team event.

I hope that makes sense as I can't be arsed re-writing it.

bB2 was different in that we had the main event split over 2 start times

for the later start time there was so many no shows that those that went out in the first group but hung around played again

we played the HU on the day but had the quiz and a charity event the 2nd day in a differnet venue before heading back

for the card rooms normal comp

because this was in glasgow alot of people had traveled so the numbers still around on the 2nd day seemed greater than in the other 3 bashes (although the cup final meant alot of locals were at the footy)

That's what I like about the idea of a Sunday HU comp. People would actually get a chance to play before getting knocked out! I can see that for some have it on the Sunday would cause problems though.

If half the field are leaving mainly because of a lack of a tournament then making it 2 days is a good idea.

If half the field are leaving mainly because they have work on Monday and need to get home, then it's a bad idea.

I don't know which is more likely.

a mixture of both, plus the extra costs of accomodation and spending money is a bigger strain on some than others.
I'm uncomfortable effectively forcing people to make Blonde bashes weekends away.

Ok, there will be some that feel this way, and I agree that potential cost should always be kept to a minimum. But, unless the bash is local, aren't most people going to pay for at least one nights accommodation?

That wouldn't change with running officially over 2 days, it near enough does that already...

Would definately be better to have the HU comp on the sunday.

ME went well on saturday but really screwed up our heads up tourney (again play the violins)!

I went home after checkout on sunday as was so stiff from football i couldn wait to get home to my bed but that was just because everything was crammed into the one day when in truth it makes so much more sense to have the events held over the two days.  

Dont get rid of the footy, i think by the sounds of it it might get some momentum by next BB and we may have more than 1 sub!

And this would work out well in a lovely hot country , you lot play poker i lay about the pool  ;D

if you want some sort of new game instead of footy quize ect ,
how about doing the main event on sunday and having saturday as a drinking comp .
could be good ,gives tk a better chance as he doesnt drink.

Here's a possible timetable

Saturday

footy
Main event to the Final, SnGs, Cash, drinking

Sunday

Lunch time Heads Up comp (with all players available should take about 4/5 hours)
Quiz (2 hours?)
Final table

This would make the FT an excellent way to end the weekend. I, for one, would stay over Sunday night and use up a days annual leave to get home, or maybe the next one could be on a bank holiday weekend? Should be able to get cheap room rates for the Sunday as business hotels are empty on Bank Holiday Sundays.

If you moved the HU to Sunday is the the consideration to drop it as a team event ?

100 + potential runners for a HU knockout would be possible in a second day - just a thought.

Or completely from left field a Omaha event as an alternative.

I voted 2 days - increases the potential.

I think bank holidays are out - too many people have other commitments on those weekends. The only halfway viable one left this year is the August one and I'll bet a lot of people have already got something planned for it.

Maybe we could have the first round of the heads-up before the main comp starts. All five games in a tie could start at once (as everyone would be free). This way everyone gets to play at least one game even if their teammates are rubbish. Then the main comp could start later with the finals of both that and the HU comp on the Sunday.

If a 2 day bash was considered then I think the option would still have to be available for people only to go for 1.

i.e. The main event would have to be all on the Saturday - it wouldn't be nice for anybody to have to miss out on anything, but if anybody really couldn't make it for the whole weekend then they would still be able to enter the main tourney.

Agreed as it would in part depend on location and what time we can spare eg if you make it a late Sunday night some would have to drop out.
Haven't read all the thread but I would love to have a Heads up event ie not a team one just an individual Heads up event.
Or maybe some other tournie on the sunday, Omaha Hi lo? I am sure that there will be many Blondes that will support how well I played at this game at the weekend.  ::)

I like the idea of a two day event, after attending all blondebashes I think we would all benefit from a two day event because I feel like everything is crammed in. Plus, if we had the HU at a time when my opponent won't be on his way to winning the comp (ChipRich) I wouldn't have had to play Ironside and have him beat me!

Make bb a week long thing, I don't mind ;D
