Title: time for fun or always profit???? Post by: turny on May 03, 2007, 03:04:38 PM is it me or does it wind anyone else up when some people take the game serious all the time?
i can do serious poker and get p#ssed off with being bad beat but arent there times you should chill out whilst playing? we have a guy in our group that cant relax or loosen up even in a £5 sng that we usually have just for fun after our pool match. every hand is a decision and he gets so p#ssed off when he gets bad beat by one of the others mucking about calling him blind or playing the whole hand blind lol. it spoils it for me because i like most of the others see it as a laugh and a wind down at the end of the night and its only a fiver ffs!!!! Again the blonde bash for example, in my eyes a social event but spoilt by some people being ultra serious even in the side action sng's. dont get me wrong to win the blonde bash would be a great honour but who plays there normal game? its about having fun not how much you make from taking advantage of friends enjoying a social event. I understand both sides of your story but to be honest i'm not sure why your friend would get so upset when others dont take it as serious - surely he must realize in the long run he'll make more when his opponents are playing blind!! :D Title: Re: time for fun or always profit???? Post by: matt674 on May 03, 2007, 03:19:57 PM lol no matt he doesnt realise he's that bad i could beat him without looking at my cards every go! Does he actually think he is better than he is? Maybe his frustrations come because he wants to learn how to become better but doesnt get the opportunity because you are not taking as serious? (though reading your post it just appears that you are up against someone who wants to win everything they play - but can't enjoy it along the way) Title: Re: time for fun or always profit???? (though reading your post it just appears that you are up against someone who wants to win everything they play - but can't enjoy it along the way) i see where you are coming from matt. he regularly plays in our serious games as well so has plenty of oppurtunity to play seriously and learn that way. he also is regularly watched by a more experience player whilst playing online but is one of these guys who cant be shown anything and thinks his way is right. its just his nature i think, hes the same playing pool. he treats a best of 3 frames for a fiver the same as a county match or a £100 money match which he regularly plays as well. continually taking ages over a shot and playing ultra safe for fear of losing. Title: Re: time for fun or always profit???? Post by: matt674 on May 03, 2007, 03:37:06 PM sounds like the two of you are going to have to agree to disagree :D
some people just don't like losing whatever's at stake - $1m, £30 or a handful of winegums :) Title: Re: time for fun or always profit???? Title: Re: time for fun or always profit???? Post by: AlexMartin on May 03, 2007, 03:55:36 PM Dont complain, the £10 SnG's were the only ones within my B-roll. Play for fun, you pay your money and can play ANYWAY you want.
Title: Re: time for fun or always profit???? Post by: matt674 on May 03, 2007, 03:56:57 PM so its more his attitude towards the game more than anything?
With me its always profit but i always try to enjoy it and have fun and i'm gracious in defeat (i think ;whistle;) - if he had the same attitude then you probably wouldn't mind playing him? Always wanna talk about how they just got knocked out of a comp, I don't fkin care!!! Even during breaks and stuff they don't even seem to have any idle chit chat, it just seems to be about poker the whole time.
