84 down to 83. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 03:09:45 PM Flurry of early action - Pascal Perrault moves in on the cutoff with Ts Td and the short stacked big blind, Yuri Kerzhapkin, calls with 5d 5s.
Flop: Ac 7c 2c Turn: 4s (and we're probably all thinking it now, I just can't help it any more, unhealthy though it is)... River: 3d Double through for straightened Yuri, and everyone's opinion on live poker is confirmed. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 03:37:38 PM Guillaume Darcourt is OUT.
Raised to 2k with Jacks, Alain Layani re-raised to 8k with Kings, Guillaume pushed for 17k total and Alain, of course, called, although Ramzi pretended he dwelt up as he was retelling the tale. No help arrived. --------- Remi Biechel is also OUT. Down to 7k, Remi pushed all-in with Kc 6c, but was picked off by Ad Jh which caught two emphatic Aces. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 03:46:55 PM Marc Goodwin is OUT, leaving without a parting thought.
Oh, except for the phrase, "The French are f-ing muppets, and you can quote me on that." I don't think I will though... oh, oops. ;whistle; Probably not the best of places to make that observation with an exclamation, but although a slight generalistation, it's hard not to sympathise. Under the gun, Marc made it 2.1k to play with Aspades Qs only for his French ami (or en-ami) to raise another 4k. Marc pushed for 23k and Frenchieboy made an incredible call with J-To, leaving himself with just 2k behind. Of course, the A-Q went bust, to a salt-in-wound-rubbing full house, leaving MrCool with a somewhat bitter taste in his mouth. Bad news for MrCool, but great news for the nearest bar. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 03:50:56 PM Pascal Perrault and his technicoloured dreamshirt is OUT, crushed by a Tens vs. Fives on a 7-A-2-4-3 board (ouch!) before moving his shortstack in with the next half decent hand, but running into Aces. Not a good day at the office.
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 04:03:56 PM Eric Larcheveque is OUT -
Ge called a cutoff raise from Patrick Schull in the small blind, as did big blind Vivian Anseline. The flop came: 7h 3h Jd. Eric bet out 1,500. Vivian raised to 4,500. Patrick had lost interest by now, but Eric called when it got back to him. Turn: Js. Eric checked - a multicoloured stack measuring about 7,725 went in. After a little think, he said it, the one-word shove: "Tapis." It was another 12k or so to Anseline, and he eventually called, showing Jc Qd, good against Eric's 9s 9c. As he left the room, tablemate Brian Johnson said he knew exactly what was going on there as after letting himself be pushed off earlier by Larcheveque he was later made aware that his ex-opponent wasn't exactly the tightest of players and had been after his stack. Too late! Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 04:04:54 PM Peter Gould has doubled through courtesy of Samir Shakhtoor, flopping a cracking 2h 8h Qd Flop with Ahrt Qh, betting out 4k and having the Swede make an over-the-top for 20k move at the wrong time with just one pair. The Queen stood up leaving Mr Gould with just over 50k.
---------- Unfortunate early fallers also include... Ray Coburn Eric Cajelais Francois Demoly Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 04:15:36 PM Double up for Mad Derwich, J-J vs. A-K, Q-Q-4-2-7 board following by a deep exhale.
---------- Another double up, this time Szawomir Rydinsky. Rydinsky = Kc Kd Nikolai Losev = 9s 9c All-in, call. Turn = 5d River = 8h Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 04:30:48 PM Jan Boubli, who was one of the chip leaders, has just been taken down by Ram Vaswani, the Hendon Mobber jumping up to 100k as a result.
However, Ram just put the finishing touches on, big A-Q vs. K-K, Q-Q vs. K-K and T-T vs. A-A confrontations being what truly killed Boubli off. Tough break, but I guess he was behind on each one. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 04:32:46 PM EVERYBODY gets involved on Table Deeb now...
Jeff Lisandro raised in early position, and found a re-raiser in Ryad Abour - to 4,500 from perhaps 1,800. Freddy Deeb called on the button, Paul Gourlay called on the big blind, early position limper David Redlin called too and then it got back to Lisandro, who shoved... The pot had already becomed around 23k, and Lisandro was all-in for 24,700. Ryad Abour passed with a troubled expression and a medium dwell. Freddy Deeb passed with calm Stoicism. Paul Gourlay passed after about 10 minutes' dwell and very reluctantly. David Redlin passed as if he'd just been waiting to do so all along. "Now we're playing hold'em!" Announces Jeffrey Lisandro, winning the Stating the Obvious prize of the day. "I should have called there, eh Freddy?" asks Gourlay, who'd showed his J-J before throwing them away. "I think I'm ahead but it's a race at best..." To which Lisandro: "Hey, two to one, 50/50 - what the F-?" So a flop-free double up for the lairy seat 4, he'll be trouble now... Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 04:49:21 PM Break over - blinds now 400/800 ante 75.

He held 9d 9s, which stayed ahead of his caller's Aspades Qd. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 04:56:55 PM DC update please, Thanks Straight from the horse's mouth (I'm not calling him a horse mind)... "After one A-K, no A-A, K-K or Q-Q on Day 1, I picked up A-K second hand and picked up the blinds. Then I called a raise with A-T of diamonds, before checking an A-Q-5 Flop. I then called off 10k on the Turn and River (5k per street) only to be show A-Q. I struggled on 12-15k for most of Level 2 before picking up A-K and winning a 4k pot. Flop was A-K-T. Then, I won a 10k battle of the blinds with A-3 versus 5-6 on an A-7-8. Of course, he missed his draw. At the moment, I have 26k" Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 04:58:41 PM Spot of luck for Mads Andersen, somehow surviving an all-in with A-3 vs. A-J, the board bring out a very chop-like K-Q-4-5-4 for a split pot.
----------- Nasrodin Pirmamod, who, I hear, is a millionaire gambling tutor and part-time sex doctor, has just been eliminated by Adrien Gavile, who smooth called Nasrodin's shortstacked 8.5k all-in from early position. Nasrodin = Ahrt 6h Gavile = Kd Kc Board = Qd Th Jc 6s 3h Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 05:28:41 PM Brian Johnson is OUT, the empty seat on Table 7 signifying his sudden departure.
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 05:35:19 PM Mad Derwich is OUT - all in preflop with Tc Td vs. the Ahrt Kd of the unstoppable Jeff Lisandro. All clear until the river brought a King, knocking him out and dragging Lisandro's stack up to a tidy 63k or so. Their table is now breaking, as we're down to 63 players. Lisandro pictured waving, not trying to get me to go away.
___________________________ Lengthiest Dwell Prize goes to Turgut Guner (pictured top) after Yuri Kerzhapkin moved in on the river for 19k into a 13k pot, with the board: 6d 9c Kd 5h 4h. No call, but I watched this hand for about ten minutes and so it's getting reported. 5s Th 3d 8d Ruscalla calls and Jeff asks, in that familiarly confident manner, "So, have you got Jacks or Queens?" "Tens," replies Roscalla. Slightly concerned, Jeff reveals Kh Kd, but breathes a big sigh of relief when he sees that he has his opponent drawing dead to two cards with a surprisingly vulnerable and perhaps not biggest-pot-of-the-night inducing Kc Td. River = 5c Ruscalla gone, Lisandro new chip leader with circa 160k. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 06:32:06 PM Dave Colclough is at 75k during this break, after what he calls some "French hospitality..." Despite seeing no big pairs this comp, and only one lone A-K today, he's built up from about 15k to his present stack playing a lot of mediocre starting hands from the wonderful big blind. Here's a breakdown:
1) After there's one limper - Georges Teboul - he sees a J-8-4 (one diamond) flop in the big blind, holding Jd Qd. He checks, Teboul bets 2.5k, he raises to 6k. Call. Turn: 6d DC moves in for 16.5k (the diamond giving his confidence in his hand a boost). He gets a dwell-call (leading him to pessimistically suspect J-K or some such hand) but it turns out he was doubled through by an optimistic 8-9. 2) In the bb again with Kh 8h it was 2,600 to go with one caller, DC goes for it, "for the value." Flop: Kd-9c-4c check-check-check The turn pairs the four - the 4d bringing the double flush draw. David Redlin bets 4k, and gets called in the middle - now not so sure that his King is the best hand, he calls. River: 3c "I'm now in check-call mode," says Dave, but it checks round, the King stood up. "Easy pot." 3) In the bb with 4-4 Teboul raises, Dave smooth calls... 2-3-5 the flop. Dave checks, Teboul bets, Dave calls. Turn 6 Dave bets 5k on his turned straight, and gets a speedy call. River is a blank... DC leads out 6k, hoping his opponent has a pair...no, he gets not a penny more, being shown the perhaps unexpected A-Q... Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 06:34:26 PM Karsten Johansen (right) limps for 1,200, Brad Lipson (left) moves in for 6,150 more from the big blind, Karsten calls.
Karsten = 4c 4h Brad = Kc Qh Board = Td Qd Aspades Ac 9h Libson doubles through. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 06:47:11 PM Karsten Johanssen is OUT - After a double limp, from Paul Testud under the gun and later position Freddy Deeb, Karsten Johanssen moved in on the small blind for perhaps 20k...Testud instacalled, which put Freddy off, if he'd been considering it. "Showdown!" impatiently demands observer Johan Storakers, for no apparent reason (there must be some kind of tedious-dwell history on that table, for example).
Karsten shows: Kh Qs Paul shows: Js Jc Flop: Aspades 9h Ad Turn: Jh And he was already halfway out of the room as the irrelevant 6h came down. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 07:05:29 PM Double up for Ramzi, who, according to the youthful Swede, played his first hand in four hours. ;carlocitrone; ;joestrummer;
All-in pre-flop. Ramzi Jelassi = Ad Qh Runar Runarsson = Kc Tc Board = 4c Kh 7s Aspades 9c Down to just 15k, a dejected Runar cries, "Every time I lose it's to a redraw." Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 07:10:49 PM Looks like the constantly short-stacked Brad Libson has exited stage left. Two other Americans aren't fairing too much better, Jeff Wallace and Jason Lee both struggling with 13,300 and 13,575 respectively.
---------- The bearer of the sugary gifts, Sorel Mizzi, has just moved all-in for 15k with Qs Ts only to be called by Noel Gaens in the big blind with Kh 5h. The 6s Jd 8h Ac Flop and Turn looked good for Gaens, but he's been having a rough time of it recently, and could only bang the table, although hesitantly, as the River dealt out a vicious Qh. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 07:36:27 PM Wasek Lukasz has doubled up. He raised it up to 4k with Ac Ad, and was silently overjoyed to see Guillaume de la Gorce move all-in behind him for around 20k more with Qh Qs.
Lukasz called like lightening, as you would, and fisted the air upon seeing the 2h Kh 4s 5d 2d board. Gorce down to the felt. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 07:36:55 PM Samir Shakhtoor Suckout News Now:
All-in with J-J against the Q-Q of Nikolai Evdakov, a Jack appearing on the river sparked a full table, "Oooh." That caught our attention, which was held as they counted down Samir's stack - 62,700 which is now a very healthy double that, while his neighbour is down to around 40k. A wincing table says goodbye to both all-in players as they get outdrawn by what I am guessing was a flush. "Nice hand Not," says a leaving Ramzi/Borat (out of table earshot, of course), understandably not best pleased. Dinner break in 4 minutes. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 10:47:53 PM With the blinds at 800 and 1,600 with a running ante of 150, Aleaksander Dzianisan raises to 11,000 under-the-gun.
Sorel announces 'raise' and puts in 4,450, only to be told that there had been a raise before him. Sorel asks for a ruling from the floor, and is promptly told by the Tournament Director that he has to raise at least another 11,000 because he announcing the action verbally. With this in mind, Sorel reluctantly puts in 22,000. After everyone else had folded, play returns to Aleaksander Dziansan who swiftly moves all-in for the rest of his 20k (approx) chips. Dziansan looks confident as he turns over the Ladies, but not so when he spots Sorel's Pocket Cowboys. Raggy Flop of no use and Dziansan is sent packing. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 10:59:12 PM Sorel Mizzi gets involved in a big pot against button Vivian Anseline... caught it on the turn with the board 9d 8s Kh 7d. Sorel bet out 16k into a pot which had already reached the 20k mark, and after a suitable dwell, Vivian moved in. It was just 13k more for Sorel to call with his 4d 5d, which he duly did, finding his opponent holding 9c 9s, and rivering the fourth Nine for good measure. Down to 36k for Mizzi.
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 11:05:27 PM Koskas raised it up pre-flop (and under-the-gun) to 5,500, only to receive two smooth callers (the call is smooth not Gourlay ;hide;) in Paul Gourlay and Ram Vaswani.
Flop = Qs Qc 5c Koskas pushes all-in for 34.5k, Paul folds, albeit after a brief session in the think tank, and Ram nonchalantly calls. Ram = Ac 8c Koskas = 6c 6s Turn = 2c River = 4h ... and Koskas is gone. To my delight, I said to Dutch blogger Vincent that I thought Paul had either Eights or Nines, and I was right, he'd let go of the latter. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 11:21:36 PM Double up for Runar Runarsson, A-8 v 7-7, K-8-6-8-5 board.
He's now on 30-35k. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 11:42:07 PM Speak of the devil, Paul 'Rocket Man' Gourlay has just doubled up against Ram Vaswani, all the chips flying in on a 5h 8s Qh, Ram's plea of "Show me a flush draw" with Ahrt 8h goes unanswered as Paul turns over Ks Qd.
Turn = 6s "Black," demands Gourlay, whose prayers were answered. River = 6d Paul now up to around 70k with 35 players left. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 11:46:20 PM Runar Runarsson doubles up courtesy of Nichlas Saarisilta: Runar raised to 6,400 (the blinds now 1,200/2,400) on the cutoff, and found Nichlas on the button re-raising a further 10k. Runar shoved when it got back to him (another 17k, it looked like) and got a quicker-than-expected call from Nichlas with his Jh Tc. Runar's Qh Qs held up, although a flopped Jack might have increased the tension a little.
_________________________ Samir Shakhtoor raised to 5,800 on the cutoff, called by small blind Will Ma. Flop: 3d Qs 5h Check-check. Turn: 2s Will bets out 7k, gets a prompt raise to 24k and passes. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 11:54:42 PM Daniel Donnabadien is OUT, spanked by Freddie Deeb. Didn't catch the hand, but the board had T-4-6-2-J, Deeb had Kings and Donnabadien had a face like a smacked bottom.
Meanwhile, David Redlin has just seen off Michel Akrich, Tc Ts vs. 8d 8h, the board bringing a bowel fluctuating flush draw... 7d 2d 6c Kd 5h Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 09, 2007, 12:11:15 AM Dave Colclough is OUT.
Made his move A-6s, but ran into Pocket Kings which promptly made Quads. ---------- Full (rough) counts with a half hour left until close of play (from Jen, sadly down a computer, hopefully not for the duration)... Samir Shakhtoor made it 5,200 from the button, Nikolas Liakos re-raised to 16,700 from the small blind, Samir asked how much he had left, the answer was 36k (36.2k to be precise), Samir put him all in, Nikolas called instantly. Nikolas = Ac Ad Samir = Kd 9c Board = 6c 8d 5c Th 6d Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 09, 2007, 12:23:00 AM Down to 27, and subsequently 2 table, Polish player Lukaz Wasek being the latest to bite dust.
------ Sorel Mizzi was one of the recent exits, raising with 8-5 and calling with a pair and a straight draw come the Flop. Second source details I'm afriad, but the Canadian is definitely gone. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 2 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on May 09, 2007, 12:36:45 AM Xavier Detournel is OUT.
A Queens v Aces jobbie, Runar Runarsson with the Aces and Xavier calling for his tournament life on the 4d Js 5d. 4s Turn, Th River, following by a big celebratory shout from Runarsson.
