It would be fan'tastic *excuse the pun* but in reality they gonna buy a non league club or at best 2nd div one. It would be really interesting for them to buy a small non league club and buy some players and do a non league chelski!

Harrogate Town!!

Been looking at the official site..and can't quite figure out if it could be viewed as an investment opportunity. What I mean is, if the club we buy gets promoted to a higher league or makes substantial amount of money...who's going to benefit financially in the long run?
Is this going to make me rich? (Please say yes, and don't spoil the fantasy). ;pokergods;

"The important thing to remember is that when we ask for the £35 membership fee (no-one has been asked to make any payment to date), we will set out very clearly and legally how MyFootballClub will operate - so people know exactly what they are part of."

I am pretty sure any profits would be divided up between the members.

I am pretty sure any profits would be divided up between the members.

..And THAT..is exactly what I wanted to hear.
Seriously tho, it should be fun...and good to be involved in regardless of financial gains etc...Beats spending days on end vegetating in front of 'Football Manager'.

Do you play that at work too? :P

The only bit im not sure about is the members having a say in Team Selections, formation etc by vote. Dont think that would work.

I wouldnt want this for Leeds tbh, maybe a side like York City etc.....

You wouldn get a big club in the top 2 or 3 divisions for 1.75m anyway.

Do you play that at work too? :P

Not at work,couldn't get away with that...tend to waste my days off on it though! Craving for the approval of my board of directors...desperately grovelling for world class players to join my pitifully under-achieving club...And then getting p'd off  and ending up creating another profile so i can cheat and quadruple my transfer budget.  ;karabiner;

It'd be funny if.......

They buy a league 2 club, Funchester, and after a successful season are involved in a would be crucial promotion game at the end of the season. In order for them not to go up, they need to lose by 20 goals.

Their rivals (who go up if they win by 20 goals or more) get an evil investor with a moustache to stump up 1.4m , they buy in x 50,000 for £35 each, and vote for a team of absolute lemons to be picked in the cruicial match. :)

They are 19-0 down at half time, they desperately hold bring and buy sales or something to raise enough £35 stakes to regain control of the club and vote for a goalie substitution.

Some amazing work by the goalie has Funchester hold at 19-0 down for a full 44 minutes in the second half.

Then disaster strikes, The moustached man with a pellet gun shoots the goalie as he goes to claim an easy ball. He's layed Funchester for promotion on Betfair and stands to make his 1.4m back and then some.

The lemons are 20-0 down with 1 minute to go they kick off......

GGOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Some dodgy grandad scores. They lose 20-1 but get promoted.

 There's a screenplay there I tells ya.

Buying Leeds would be a great idea.

We could fill the team with useless players, selfish greedy bastards and has beens, never wases and never will bes. Then we could employ a total bufoon as manager and install a megalamaniac crook as chairman.

Then we could run the team into the ground, build up shed loads of debts and end up in the lowest tier of football they've ever been in.

Ooooops. Someone beat us to it. ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty;

All we need now is the Chairman getting stuck up with a gun and someone trying to kidnapp him? :P

Thinking about it, but not clear who it is to buy. I do realise that i am writing off £35 but could still be fun.

Just wrote off £35, it will be fun if not anything else...

Imagine 50,000 instant supporters not bad for a small club, could be a great investment..

Registered and paid up, it's going to be the most interesting thirty five quid i've ever spent .
Any chance of changing the name of the thread so as not to put people off who might otherwise be interested?

Interview on BBC Radio 5 Live at 20:45, maybe some interesting news, should be close to buying a club soon.

I tried to register, but could only get the 2 or 3 year option and gave up looking for the 1 year option.

It seems every media interview is much the same, but seeing as they are refusing to give much details of any prospective buy-outs due to confidentiality concerns I can't see much being forthcoming until a club is actually bought.

I tried to register, but could only get the 2 or 3 year option and gave up looking for the 1 year option.

When you click on a payment link on the main page it should give you the option after you have registered your details.

From the BBC "However, many of the website's 32,000 annual memberships are now up for renewal, and interest in the club is on the wane." I think a lot of people will have other financial priorities at the moment.

not surprised only people likely to make money from this and who actaully get to run the club are the guys who came up with the idea

nice way for them to own a club letting people think they get a say in the running of it

I looked at this last year, fantastic idea what else can I replicate this on :)
My thoughts were/are that the website actually own the club and not the members, not a bad deal for the owbers of the site.
As the first years money was to buy the club I assume that they need less for this year. I must pop back to the clubs website and see what is going on
