Looking to put my toe in the world of Omaha - the NLHE people have had enough of my money for the time being (at least until Friday).

What is a good book to read and which Omaha would I be best looking at initially.

I liked Reubens book a lot "how good is your pot limit omaha".. his thought process is pretty clear

it depends on how you approach books, a lot of people I've spoken too didn't like it because it doesn't tell them what to do, they like to try and get a poker-by-numbers style... but his book has a few hands that really encourage a proper thought process, and any book that teaches you why to do something rather then telling you to do it is always going to be much better for a poker players education.

If you want to learn how to short stack and avoid playing postflop, then Rolfs book is good for that

If I wanted to play Omaha I'd ask DC for advice

I'm new to PLO. I'd recommend a more basic book before this as it assumes some knowledge, can't give any recommendations though, sorry.

I think Slotboom's book is best, and assumed knowledge shouldn't be an issue for Dingdell with her Hold'em background.  I also like Ciaffone's Omaha book, although it covers Hi/Lo too and Ciaffone/Brier's Pot/No Limit Poker has some good material too on big bet games in general.

The market is sadly lacking for decent resources on PLO.  The only other thing I can think of of any value is the section in Super System 2 and, like most multi-game books, its limited in how deep it can cover the game.

The Road to Omaha by Robert Ludlum.......nothing to do with poker of course

only one worth reading imo. The omaha bible is championship omaha by mcevoy and I cant remember.

I know of several players who play omaha for a living using many of the sections from that book as a strong guide. Sure there are some sections that are irrelevant now but if you read the book thouroughly and pick up a few bits from it your omaha game will improve (I have records that can show how much it improved my game). I even go so far to reread bits of it every year before going out for the series- it is one of the books thats help me focus (along with the only other one I reread over and over which is cairos)

yeah me to, for basic Omaha (Hi/lo) advise you can't do much better than that I think...Rolf Slotbooms book is something I would buy if I start to play more Omaha as it seems a bit of hard work to get through according to Floppy's review.
