Title: festivals
Post by: Ironside on April 12, 2005, 02:48:18 PM
the list of this years festivals is readily available anywhere on the net and normally 12 months or more in advance.
BUT when it comes to what events are going to be played on what days we get only about 4 weeks notice WHY

to encourage people to travel to the ferstivals surely they can let us know as soon as they annouce the dates of the festival
or atleast 3-4 months notice.

some of us can't play a whole week so we pick an choose which event to travel for
the cost of travel and hotels is nearly as much as the cost of the main events at some festivals
and this is because we cant book 3-4 months in advance

example i can book a flight from aberdeen to heathrow fo 9e/w + airport tax return flight 50 if i can book in advance
with 3-4 weeks notice the flight goes up top around 65ew + airport tax total 160+

hotels can go up from 60 a night to nearly 200 a night

so anyone reading this that has the power next time you announce the date of your festival
please tell us whats on what date so those of us that want to travel can do so without
making what is a hobby a huge finaical drain

today i just got a flyer thru the post from the vic
for the forth coming european poker championships

apart from the 750 even now becoming a 1k event
(getting a bit expensive)
and the main event going up to 5k it's same
events as last months
but they have conviently put
events to include etc etc
without putting the dates down thus making it impossible
to book cheap flights and hotel rooms without finding oneself
playing in the 250 PLO8 REBUY instead of the 1k NLHE

now i doubt brian or jeff ot any of the other vic cardroom top brass
will read this but do me a favour and get the schedule out quick so
i can save myself the 250 in costs of buying into the NLHE in airfares
and hotels
i have also offer my friend a day out in london and she needs
to know when so she can book a couple of days off work

they know what events they are going to be playing they
know the main event will be the saturday sunday

why not say now the thedule will be

monday 200 plhe
tueday 250 plo8
wednessday 1k nlhe
thurday 1k PLO dc
friday super for main event
saturday main event
sunday 300 nhle

or what ever its going to be someone must know

Surely the Vic 5k event has to be a three day event with a 75 minute clock.

Smaller buy ins on the EPT in Deauville and Vienna which were about a third that buy im were given a 75 min clock....

Its practically the same buy in as the WSOP.... i will be giving it a wide berth if they don't make it a 3 day event

its now 6 weeks since i posted this

still no word about the exact dates for the vic festival

now the cost of flights  has already doubled

at the moment i can get a good deal on the metropole if

the bluesq sponsored event gets its finger out

i am also planning on a bringing a friend down with me if she

can get a couple of days off work

so its important that we know the schedule in advance please
