Title: PC sound help Post by: Indestructable on May 12, 2007, 02:45:04 PM I was having a problem with my cd writer so I bough a new one and installed no problems. I can play a Cd and hear the sound fine, however I now get no sound for anything else. For example if I go on youtube I can see the clip fine but can get no sound.
Anyone any ideas what I have done and how to fix it? Title: Re: PC sound help Post by: KingPoker on May 12, 2007, 02:46:47 PM nope

Any yellow triangles anywhere? If not then (thru control panel) open sound and audio devices, click on the audio tab and click on volume and make sure all sliders are up. If they are try changing the device in the drop down list next to each playback (sound, midi playback). Title: Re: PC sound help Post by: Graham C on May 12, 2007, 04:52:42 PM Are you using IE? If so check that the box found in...
Right click on the IE icon on the desktop, go to properties - Advanced Tab - scroll down to Multimedia section and make sure that the box with play sounds in webpages is ticked. Will tyr to work it out, cheers. Title: Re: PC sound help Post by: RichEO on May 13, 2007, 05:34:24 AM Disconnect the new cd-writer to rule it out.
I don't think that will be causing the problem, just a coincidence you noticed it now But to be sure try the above. Do you get sound on youtube in firefox? Title: Re: PC sound help Post by: Indestructable on May 13, 2007, 08:35:48 AM Thanks, will give it a go.

Oh, and can I have your autograph? Title: Re: PC sound help Post by: AceofWands on May 13, 2007, 02:24:28 PM CD devices are sometimes connected to the mainboard or sound card by an audio cable that allows audio CDs to be played independent of the software sound system.
Assuming the sound card is installed and working properly you need to check your Windows sound settings: Open the Run box and enter: sndvol32 For Volume and Wave make sure the slider is somewhere in the middle or near the top and that the mute boxes are unchecked. |
