Title: Taxi for Warnock
Post by: Indestructable on May 13, 2007, 05:17:53 PM
So it's all over and Sheffield United are down.

If the premier league had penalised West Ham as they should have done there would have been a different result. Looks like it was £5.5 million well spent.  ;)

Even my in-built natural instinct to not want anything good to happen to teams from Sheffield can't overcome the fact that West Ham staying up stinks.  What does a £5.5m million fine mean now that they're guaranteed £30m minimum next season.

I really hope the 'gang of 4' go through the courts and get this overturned, although I can't see it happening.

The West Ham thing, the farce with the 10-point deductions for Leeds and Boston, plus Tim Howard-Gate has shown this season just how incompetent the football authorities are in their ability to produce 'fair and equitable' rules or make a meaningful ruling without 'bottling it'.

Consequently, they deserve to see the season descend into farce and courtroom squabbles.

Don't forget, these are the same idiots that appointed Steve McLaren and allowed Wembley to run 'slightly over budget'.

Also thought it was a bit unfair that Man Utd did not play their three best players from the start.
Liverpool are also guilty of this as Fulham have only stayed up as Liverpool rested 9 players against them.

The Sky league will eventually eat itself, the huge sums of money involved will see to that. This whole West Ham saga will be just be the first of many.

Watch how the clubs that survived furiously start doing the backstroke & leave Sheff Utd high & dry.

Sorry, but warnock is a prize *****er.

For him to criticise another team for what they've done to condemn them to relegation is pathetic.  Remember what Sheffield Utd did to get a game abandoned?  Here's a reminder:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/1912208.stm

He doesn't half spout some vile stuff as well:
Quote
"At least I knew the players that were playing. I didn't even know two of those that played for Liverpool at Fulham last week.

"I'd never heard of them but when you are a foreign manager like Rafa Benitez, you probably don't give two hoots about what Sheffield United think.

He also said that when he alleged that Henchoz deliberately spat at him that it's the sort of thing he expects from a foreign player.

Nice chap.  Will be missed in the Premiership.  Just feel sorry for those in the Championship.

Warncock wont win many friends and he often shoots from the hip before actually thinking what he is going to say.

But..

I think he's good for football, he does not tolerate cheats and divers, lame ref decisions. I would much rather we have managers like him than coppell..personailty of a pea.

In pure footballing terms I'd much rather see Coppell as a manager than Warnock.

Reading are great to watch even if the post match interviews aren't riveting.

He cheats!!

When they got that game abandoned he sent out his players to be sent off and to feign injury.  A disgusting, foul-mouthed bigot who although occasionally amuses the audience is to football what Jim Davidson is to comedy.

Why would he want to do that?

Surely if players get sent off they forfeit the game anyway?

It doesn't say what his motivation to do such a thing was?

Warnock suggesting which players Mr Ferguson should pick for a particular game pretty much sums the man up.
Given the comparison between the two men regarding personal results, it's amazing how Warnock even dare suggest such a thing.
Mr Warnock, the reason you were relegated is because you didn't get enough points.
Chip paper you are.

I have no time for Warnock, but he is right in that had Liverpool played a proper team against Fulham that Sheffield United would probably still be up. Similarly Man Utd did not start with their best eleven. How can this be fair on the other teams involved in relegation.
However the main issue is how can one team "cheating" with a dodgy player deal not get penalised with points?
Can't see anything happening about it but West Ham should be down. I wonder if Uefa/Fifa should stick their noses in? Where is Sepp Blatter when you need him?

I don't really understand this thing about not playing a 'proper team'.
Football is a squad thing nowadays.
Just because some players are not household names doesn't mean they aren't good enough.
Sheffield went down because they didn't get enough points, not because Liverpool fielded a 'weakened' team against Fulham, or because Man Utd didn't start with Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs or Vidic on Sunday.
Warnock blamed Ferguson, referees, the F.A. and Uncle Tom Cobley and all.
Not his own fault then.
Didn't hear Pardew moaning.

I actually feel quite sorry for Warnock and Sheff Utd (and bobby1). Yes Warnock can be a total prick at times but he fights 100% for his club. He is a blades fan and the passion he shows is great.

And,yes, I agree that they didnt get enough points to stay up so that should be that and to be honest they only needed a point from their last 2 games to stay up. Both were at home against teams in the bottom half of the league.

To criticise Man Utd and Liverpool I think is wrong. If you said to any manager who was fighting to stay up you can either have Man Utd away or Wigan at home for your last game how many do you think would pick Man Utd??

Same with Fulham against Liverpool. Fulham were fortunate that Liverpool had bigger things to worry about. Why should Man Utd or Liverpool field full strength sides when they have big cup finals coming up.

I'm sure that teams have picked up points from Arsenal,Chelsea,Man Utd and Liverpool when they have rested players after a Champions League in the week. Nothing is said then because it is not highlighted in the middle of the season but the truth is every point in every game of the season is valuable for the clubs fighting for their lives.

I wanted West Ham to go down but it wasn't to be and their form at the end of the season was highly impressive.

I dont know the ins and outs of the Tevez situation. I think it was clear from the day that both the Argies signed that there was something a little dodgy about them as they were offered to Arsenal,Tottenham,Chelsea,Man Utd and Liverpool in the last week of the transfer window and all of them turned them down.

I also agree with Teacake that the other clubs in the "gang of 4" will probably leave Sheff Utd in the shite, although Wigan have said that they will still support them. I think that if this ends up in the courts and they rule that west ham should go down then it could have serious implications on the game as every club that goes down will try and get out of it anyway they can.

Warnock is a total w#####........the one and only reason teams go down is because they just haven't picked up enough points....end of!

You know when you've come across a bad manager when he blames relegation on the players other teams put out. Fact remains his side lost at home to a team who have barely won a game all season. Since when do any of the 'big' teams owe Sheff Utd, or anyone else a favour to play their supposed best team.

How can he blame Man Utd and Liverpool for fielding weakened teams?

Is this not the same Warnock who fielded a massively weakened team for the midweek game at Old Trafford against Man Utd because he wanted to save his best team for the game against Charlton at The Valley 4 days later?

After three days revelling in Warnock getting relegated I'm now getting my come uppance as the local paper's back page headline reads......

"Warnock link with (Leicester) City job"     :redcard:

Tighty, please tell me it won't happen!!    ;boltpp;
