blondepedia: an awful lot of work going on to get this ready. It is firmly intended to launch pre Snoops going to Vegas in mid June for the WSOP

Shop: Our preferred option with a shop partner hit insurmountable difficulties. Currently progressing with another firm, with a back up plan in place for if this, too, falls down

To further confirm Rich's point on blondepedia, it is progressing superrbly. snoops has worked incredibly hard on this, & I'm sure it will be well received. We met with snoops yesterday, & went through the blondepedia Project with us & it's just awesome. It's mostly complete (as far as such a thing can be) but there are nuts & bolts to sort, Links, da de da de da.

Yes, blondepedia is very close and, barring a disaster, will be up and running pre-Vegas. However, it is a humongous project and one that has inevitably thrown various problems into the melting pot that need to be addressed before we launch.

Watch this space as it'll be hitting your shores very soon.

blondepedia will be a player and bio database. We currently have a near 1,000 entries with 300-350 bios attached, which, I would assume, is a lot of bios compared to any other poker site. To be included in the database, players must have participated in a Main Event covered by the blonde live update team and had their photo taken by our cameras.

People will be able to contribute, but not self-edit, as this requires a massive team to overlook, one in which we simply don't possess. However, people are invited to email me in order to identify mistakes, typos and other errors and even to offer to write a bio. The reason for this is to avoid vigilantes and to ensure that we maintain the quality of the writing, which is very important to me.

This is all very new to me, so I'm keeping it very simple to start off with so I don't get myself knee deep in poo, but hopefully it will be well received nonetheless.

One thing I can assure you off, however, is that it looks darn good, provides a jolly good read and is a unique feature.

You can use wiki software to create something like this, but restrict editing access to a group of people that you want to be able to add and edit the content (whilst the rest of the users can only read what's there).  You can then grow and monitor the team as required, and any edits made are tracked and you can see who's done what.

If anyone abuses the system, you have a record of what they've done, and you can remove their editorial access.

But maybe it's a bit late to mention this now...

Thanks Daniel. Wish we'd known this earlier.......

I think this is an example of Wilki's software used for another website

I've been aware of the wiki software for a while now, but I just didn't fancy using it for the blondepedia database. I wanted something slightly different and with a little more character, although the ease of using wiki certainly was tempting.

It has to be said, the "look & feel" of blondepedia is excellent, & snoops has chosen well.
