Title: Laptop tech help please. Post by: jezza777 on May 17, 2007, 03:15:44 PM So I was watching episode 21 of Heroes and the programme freezes, then "not responding" comes up at the top of the page. I can't do anything, ctrl alt del will not bring up task manager and nothing works. I am forced to turn the laptop off. When I turn it back on it will not get past the Windows XP page.

1. Somehow you have lost 1 or some of the dll files required to load windows. 2. Corrupt hard drive, possibly a bad sector where the above mentioned files are stored and windows cant access them. Safe mode did get me in in the end and a restart seems to have fixed it. The windows seem a lot "boxier" and sharper but I am just happy to have it back working.
