Title: cup final
Post by: AdamM on May 19, 2007, 01:45:28 PM
what bets have you had?

I've covered a few possibilities.
Draw/Man U
1st to score rooney/ronaldo/O'Shea
Rooney 2-0
Ronaldo 2-1

A Utd fan at work said he was betting in Chelsea so he's be happy either way. Personally I'll be miserabl;e if Chelsea win and picking up a few quid from the bookies won't change that so I'm finalcially and emotionaly lumped on Utd.

It's a beautiful bet. how much you put on?

I'm quite enjoying it. it's tight and cagey but its the best two teams in England. It was never going to be 4-3 at half time

all bets still live for me too  ;pokergods;

one of those cup finals unfortunately.

best ones are plucky underdog v big team.

this is two big teams cancelling each other out. remember Man Utd v Liverpool. same thing happened.

ah well. all my bets are dead. come on Utd in extra time.

Let the debate start

A cup double has to be better than winning the Premiership.
No way the Premiership is the real test.
Or none of them really matter compared to the Champions League.
 ;ifm;

Hmm must start a poll.

Well, to be fair he did nail Cech into the bk off the net.  And subsequently the correct decision was made.

I think that we were the better team, but as usual in domestic cup finals these days, we still lose it.

Great finish from Drogba though.  Great move.  Sickening result.

..and let's ignore the fact that Giggs was fouled before then so it should have been a penalty.

Oh, much the same as Maureen (not you The Nun) ignores the fact that it would have been a penalty and a red card for Cech if Garcia's goal hadn't been given in the semi-final of the CL in 2005.  He doesn't stop going on about that goal - maybe this one can be brought up every time he mentions that one.  Something tells me he won't want to mention the chavs getting the rub of the green?

Good cup team chelsea - not bad for a small club.

Thank God for Liverpool & Milan or we would have to sit through this dross again on Wednesday!!! Two teams who are petrified to lose to each other.

At Hampden last Wednesday Sevilla & Espanyol showed how a final should be played although those fuggin idiots at ITV decided to show it on ITV4 so most of you probably  missed it. >:?

Couldn't believe that Fergie was trying to claim that Giggs should have had a penalty, I thought Jose was the bad loser but that was plain clutching at straws. Maybe if Ronaldo had turned up today they might have tried to score a goal?

Yeah Ronaldo was quiet, and when he is, we can never do anything.

Champions league

FA Cup
League cup

nah i think a cup double is better reward that a league title

Title: Re: cup final
Post by: AdamM on May 20, 2007, 02:49:39 PM
for me

Champions league > Premiership
Domestic double < Champions league (only just)
champions league > than cup double
Domestic treble > champions league
cup double < Premiership

If Liverpool win wednesday Man Utd and Chelsea fans will be envious but it's still nice to get the league trophy back. I'm sure Chelsea fans are reasonably happy with their haul too.

good competeive season. long may it continue

as always, I stand by my words.

cup double is worth hasving but not at the expence of the League

the league table doesnt lie, ther best side will win over 36 games.

cups are good and in the following order champions league,f a cup , uefa cup, league cup.

for me winning the league outwieghs them all.

man united were the best this season and are champions.

and i think most of you know my team

Title: Re: cup final
Post by: kinboshi on May 21, 2007, 09:39:59 AM
As I've said in the other thread - the league is the one to win.  The Champions League is a close second, but it's second to the league.

I'd quite happily swap the European Cup (if we win this Wednesday) for manure's League title.

I'm quite sure chelsea would swap both of their cups for either of the two 'big ones'.

I think chelsea will be disappointed with their haul this season, as they were up there challenging on all four fronts.  Saying that, winning the two cups means that their season hasn't been a wash-out.

What a dull game the FA Cup final was.  Thought Joe Cole should have been sent off early doors for that horrendous two footed from behind tackle he lunged in with - very very lucky to get away with that without even a yellow.

Good goal by Chel$ea, they've invested enough to win at least one decent trophy a season ;applause;

Premiership is the trophy to win, the others are great, but the league is the main priority for every club.  Even for those not in contention, remaining in the Premiership is their main goal.
