Title: Bale to Spurs?
Post by: Acidmouse on May 23, 2007, 02:52:31 PM
He's having a medical. For a reported £10m, is that the best club he can go to? :P

Surely Steve Sidwell to Chelsea Reserves is funnier?

its a good fit, Spurs are weak at LB, and a club going places

I like it from both sides.

17 years old, unproven in top flight football, 10 million seems a lot of money, plus he is welsh ;)

But im sure he can see that the future is bright at Spurs and he is making the right decision :)

I also hear that Terry Henry is leaving goonsville and going to barca. lets hope so.

Absolutely ridiculous price imo.

think you misread the headline - it actually read "spurs to bale", realizing that the only way is down next season they are quitting the premiership.........

i am not sure I agree. Yes young English talent is overpriced in general...but to compete with the top 4 Spurs have to compete with the prices they are prpared to pay..

British talent then

Notwithstanding the fact he is Welsh...if he develops into a consistent Premiership player (and most judges rate him that highly), a fixture on the team sheet, in 3 years time you'll be saying "£10m turned out to be cheap didn't it?"

for those types of players you pay over the odds at this sort of age

But is he really the best left back they could have signed for that price?  What about Leighton Baines?

I agree with Tighty, 10 million is an investment into Bales future, if he is as good as he is heralded, and he continues to progress as a player, then 10 million would be chicken feed... get them young, tie up a long contract and reap the rewards in a few years.

what about him?

With the likes of Huddlestone, Dawson in particular Jol has shown himself to be a good judge of young talent

I don't think we need to second guess him

Not sure quite when I turned into a Spurs apologee, but anyway!

10m is still over priced - young or not. Kaka went to AC Milan for 5m when he was a similar age!
