byron, isn't that the wonderful thing about this forum, out of the most innocuous threads a discussion can emerge....? to quote Ron Manager from the fast show "Alex Higgins - oooh, Ray readon -dracula, steve davis -very interesting, bill werbenuik -37 pints of lager a day" My point, with the exception of Rocket Ronnie and a fading Whirlwind, there are no characters left, not a problem poker has Title: Re: Snooker Post by: Dewi_cool on October 10, 2005, 03:04:35 PM Mr End sir, May I be one of the first to complement you on your new avatar, great improvement :o

Title: Re: Snooker Post by: Ironside on October 10, 2005, 05:44:13 PM back to the snooker dying part of this thread
i find it very intresting i listened to an interview of 5Live with the rocket who said he was going to concentrate more on pool from know on because there isnt the money in snooker any more he was still going to play snooker but the pool market was growing while the snooker market declining there is now only 5 thats FIVE ranking events a year personally i put this down to snookers in abilty to recover from the loss of ciggie advertising will poker hit a downturn if online poker get restricted by the USA government in getting all ISPs to block online poker (very easy to do) Title: Re: Snooker Post by: Bongo on October 10, 2005, 06:03:21 PM They could get the ISPs to block poker sites but it would be pretty trivial (for people in the know) to circumvent it if people so desired. Althought I'm sure this would mean a loss of all the recreational players who lose money.
Title: Re: Snooker Post by: Ironside on October 10, 2005, 06:08:31 PM They could get the ISPs to block poker sites but it would be pretty trivial (for people in the know) to circumvent it if people so desired. Althought I'm sure this would mean a loss of all the recreational players who lose money. it would also kill off the every expanding live games as people wont be getting sucked into it via the internet the only people that would try to get round the ISP blocks would be those already with an intrest Title: Re: Snooker Post by: byronkincaid on October 10, 2005, 06:11:16 PM maybe snooker players will have to start paying their own entry fees like wot we 'ave to ;D
