For those so inclined to spend the time watching it, trading in Big Brother on Betfair is like buying money, as it's relatively easy to predict which way the audience will react to events when they see the highlights programme in the evening.

yep. betfair is a great medium for having a bit of fun while watching bb. by backing housemates at big prices and laying them off at short prices you can make a few pounds without needing to back a winner.
you do need to be careful though as endomol can pull a few stunts to shape markets out of what might seem the norm.
last year nikki was evicted and her price promptly went to 999/1 on betfair, only for her to be reinstated and told she could still win, probably giving a few layers brown trousers.
it's great fun messing around with a few quid betting on human interaction and public perceptions, but i wouldn't be lumping to much on anything as rules can and will be changed thoughout the series

sex of overall winner is backable at 1.9 for male and 2.04 for female

consideringso far its been 5 men 1 woman and 1 unsure i think 1.9 is a good price

wonder how they paid out the nadia bet though

ok so my male winner bet is down the tubes

but only 1 man is meant to be joining them obviously there will be the odd spanner in the works but the book is price currently at 53.8%

lets hope they dont put in any other like they normally do and leave it open for new names to be added but this could be a good market

(should i write off my male winner bet?)

I can't believe that, having belatedly joined what appears to be a great poker forum, my first post is in the 'Big Brother 8' thread.  Shocking...

Anyway... hello folks.

Ironside - I wouldn't write off that bet if I were you.  When I heard the rumour that they were filling the house with females only, my initial thoughts were that they were setting up a 'ratings revival' for halfway through the series, when they fire a load of blokes into the fray to see what happens.

I haven't looked at live odds, but if you can get good odds against a male winner now, it might be worth bunging a tenner on.

still 1.95 for a male winner

and the book makes it look like people think there will be another 12 housemates

i honestly think only 1-4 men will enter the hoiuse this year make much better watching than the past

i cant wait for the bitching that always happens when you put women togther

odds on the first bitching coming between charley and emily?

Carole? I have a few quid on her too, probably trade off in a few weeks.

carole was down at 8.4  last night and has been drifting ever since as people realise she really is annoying

chantelle has been drifting from 38 last night down to about 20 at one point today

the clear favourite on betfair is laura now and has been as low as 6.0 currently back upto around 9.0

one thing people have forgotten about the introucution of the boys is that over the course of the show i cannot see more than half a dozen coming in due to the fact that if they all squeezed up there wouldnt be enough beds for around 14 people

so it would be impossible for them to bring in more than 3 or 4 boys at once UNLESS after they have kicked out 8 of the girls they then bring in a load of blokes

although they might have a 2nd part of the house which they will open up for a male grouping but i still cant see many of them making it into the main part of the house

There is a second part of the house, but they haven't said what it's going to be used for yet.   Carole is one of the favourites in the house, Laura seems to be the most popular but Carole is 2nd fave with the Channel 4 public.

Too early to say who's worth backing and who's not, but at 14, Carole's worth a few quid imo.  Was tempted to have a couple of quid on the older lady too (can't remember her name) value at 32 perhaps, although she could just as easily be first out - will watch tonight and see how things go.

Damn, I'm hooked already :(

i got some money on all of them most are trading roughly at what i backed them at although emily has gone out 6 points chanelle has come in 7 points and charly has come in around 4 points (had 2 bets on her 1 at 50.0 and another at 55) sam in 6 points

I've been dabbling in the twins now for the last week- quietly having a few quid on every night, but not wanting to tip them cause i felt i only thought they would win cause i have a soft spot for blondes who dress up as bunnies.
But there is a growing snowball of love for these two and i think they can easily be backed on betfair at 15(sam) and 17(manday) and laid off at single figures at a later date.
There is no reason to think they will get voted out within the next two months. They get on with all the housemates. No one will vote for them (except maybe charley) . They never argue, they listen to others, they compliment and see the best in others and have a wonderful sense of fun. I think both have potential to win, but the easiest money to be made is by backing now and laying later

Jerry will win it.   Getting more popular every day.   Also the only won with the guts to stand up to charlie.  People like that and the fact he is witty.

23  what a price.
