If you want to play any tournaments whilst your out there, the ones at Caesar's Palace are great, IMHO.  12 noon ($120) and 7pm (not sure of the buyin, but higher).  In my experience, the low stakes cash games are pretty soft, just sit down, get a feel for the table, and enjoy!

and go to the Star Trek experience!

Have fun!

The whole Tax on winnings thing is very confusing. Basically, as I understand it, TOURNAMENT winnings MAY be taxed if over $600.

Some casinos will pay you out cash on the spot and leave it to you to sort out any tax (if you see what I mean). Others may pay you out in Casino chips (same thing applies). Most MGM-Mirage properties are very 'tax-friendly' :)

Others, and the Harrahs group are infamous for this, will require you to complete a tax form pretty much on the spot. You are supposed to have an ITIN from the IRS for this BUT you can't get one until you win something...Catch 22, isn't it!

However, the last time I was in Caesars (part of Harrahs), I asked about this and the Poker Room Manager advised me that they would go through it all with me, on the spot, to ensure that no tax would be withheld. Unfortunately, I didn't need this service (bah!) but it was a nice offer.

For advice on Poker Rooms try http://www.allvegaspoker.com/ (http://www.allvegaspoker.com/). For things to see and to try http://www.vegas.com/ (http://www.vegas.com/) and finally, for some of the cheaper things try http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php (http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php)

Absolutely!! plus when you win (thinly disguised I won in Vegas thread) they are very helpful with form filling etc. make sure you have your passport at all times.

MGM evening comp is good at approx 6.00 and for some afternoon delight Harrahs at 3.00 is a decent comp. Cash games are plentiful and you will see plenty of action as people are there to gamble!

Good luck ;envious;

I won a couple of $150 sit n gos on my first day at the mirage. They sorted out my ITIN for me. No fuss. No charge. Two days later I had it. You need your passport regardless wherever you go.

As regards cool things I have seen. The sandwiches in The Carnegie Deli need to be seen to be believed.

Have a great time

Hello Casper and welcome to Blonde. As you can see the Blondes are only to willing to help with their endless knowledge:)

Ive heard about the grand canyon ledge walk. Its about an hours drive away from vegas and you can walk over the side on a glass ledge. Sounds a bit scarey but good fun. Also if you like Prince, Ive heard he is playing Vegas. There will be many other artists there too im sure. I've never been myslef but I've never talked to anyone who didnt like vegas. Have a great time over there:)

Apologies but the Grand Canyon is most definitely NOT a one hour drive from Vegas. It may be an hour FLIGHT but the drive will take you 4-5 hours at a steady clip and probably more.

Most Canyon bus tours from Vegas are all day events purely because of the distance. Spend the cash, do a plane/helicopter trip to the canyon to get the most our of your time.

Here's an example of a bus tour
Quote
A Grand Canyon South Rim Adventure

Go on a journey to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and capture the beauty this majestic wonder entails.

Your tour begins with hotel pick up in a luxury van. Then, it’s off to the Grand Canyon for an adventure of a lifetime. On your way to the destination, your experienced driving tour guide shares fascinating facts of the South Rim’s history and geological features.

Upon arrival, enjoy a buffet lunch just outside of Grand Canyon National Park. Take in the beautiful surroundings as you eat.

Continue your trip with a visit inside the park and stop at several viewpoints throughout the South Rim. You’ll have plenty of photo opportunities, so make sure to have your camera ready.

Return to Las Vegas and get a chance to see surrounding areas of this world-famous city.

Tour length: Approximately 13 hours (hotel to hotel)

See?

Voodoo bar at the Rio is a must see at night it's about 30 floors up it's got a huge balcony and is about 1 mile of the strip so at night the whole strip is lit up below you. And there is a huge norkage scene...
