Title: iPod/MP3 Player Suggestions
Post by: GlasgowBandit on June 01, 2007, 11:19:32 AM
Morning all,

I have damaged my iPod beyond repair and it needs replaced quickly I have been gaving a look at some sites online and some of the items I have seen are quite expensive.

Any suggestion on what I could by that gives value for money?

It doesn't have to be an iPod or does it have to have video capacity.

Just a quick question before you replace it, why do you think it's beyond repair?

Mine seemed to pack up mid Singapore flight, and didn't work for nearly 6 months..

The day I was going to replace it I came across and article about similar things happening and the advice was, as a last resort... to BANG it very hard on the desk 3 times - top right hand corner of the iPod. Well, after about 12 very hard whacks (and a horrid noise coming out of it) it suddenly sprung back into life, and is working as good as new.

Might be worth a try.

Good bit of value to be had at ebuyer.com one of the cheapest places around for IT hardware free delivery for orders over £89, use google checkout and get £10 off.

iPod Video 30GB 5th Generation Black - Latest Model works out at £140.21 delivered or
Apple iPod Nano 8GB Black £120 delivered so the first one seems like a great deal!!

I had it in Milan with me and spilt a can of beer on it, and when ever I try and charge it no charge seems to go through,  the battery symbol comes up on the iPod but nothing happens.  I will go and give it a whack just now - see if it works!

I have an ipod thats been packed up for ages, makes a funny wurring sound and an unhappy face.

Do you bang it corner on or flat but just catching the corner?

I'm not to bothered about the ipod but i had loads of music on there that i don't have anywhere else.

Well the banging didn't seem to work.  I skelped it a few times it made a little noise almost like a car purring but still no power seemed to go through.

did you not know that Ginger has shares in Apple - every time someone buys an Ipod because their old one is broke beyond repair the value of the shares goes up..............  ;whistle;

Mine came up with the battery sign for a while and refused to work a while back, few months later i gave it a try and it worked fine.

Someone must have been trying to get it to work for me without me knowing, and smashed it on table.

The trick seems to work though by the sounds of it :)up
