Title: I am glad I am not in Dublin
Post by: Indestructable on June 03, 2007, 08:30:30 PM
As if Brendan was to win this I would be reduced to an emotional puddle of tears  :'(

If they made a film of Brendan's life this year they would say it was too far fetched.

Good luck Brendan.

As would we and anybody else there.

The man is a legend.

Harmony and myself are behind him all the way.

Harmony and I are gutted, but he battled all the way through, from starting as shortest stack to be chip leader HU.

Brendan truly is a great man.

Bainn & Harmony.

A real shame for Brendan but a fantastic performance. He came back from 2x bb five handed to rise to a 2-1 chip lead heads up but lost a key hand when he had a turned straight versus two pair and the board paired on the river to give the eventual winner Jacques Kieft the house

Brendan got a roaring ovation from a big crowd of railbirds including many blondes.

There was many a tear around the table from a huge crowd of blonde Railbirds, I promise you.

He gave a quite moving interview for Poker Week, too. Watch it & weep.

I don't think it would be unfair to suggest that everyone in card room with the exception of a Dutch-Irish bloke was rooting for Brendan.

Much the same as with Eck in Scotland - the best man came second.

I believe every APAT event this has been the case..........  ;whistle;

I cannot completely argue with that.  Although I must argue that Lee is a decent player.

Well finally got round to reading the updates,
Thanks of course all that railed me both online including Bainn and Harmony Paul, maureen Tom etc, and Those there live, the whole crowd seemed to be behind me.
Pity the poker Gods weren't up to speed.
But in the end I was gutted, I had decided to be aggresive in this one, and it nearly paid off, specially coming back fron 28000 chips when we were down to five the others holding the best part of 1,500,000 between them.
When we got to heads up, I felt it was gonna be my day, but boy was he tough,he would not get involved and was playing the long game( Think he thought i was tireing) but i had my eye on the big prize and continued aggression was my plan.

It wasn't to be, and no matter how you cut it, i do'nt like being second, but hay ho them's the breaks.

I'm right behind APAT and all it stands for, and I know the team have lots planned for next season.
The Fitz staff and dealers were as professional and helpful as you know Dubliners will be.
My lasting memory of our weekend at APAT Dublin,is all the time I spent with friends old and new.

Dewi for keeping me in the pub................Those JD's went down well mate.
Geo the Sarge/and son,for lifting me in and out of those said pubs.
All the other guys I spent time drinking with.
Danial, sorry bout the A9, but you must have known, you must never mess with my blinds.
Special word for Kev and Jane, who without any coersion, kept a quiat eye on me, and Kev and me got very close lifting me into the nemeros taxi's we needed.

Ironside also stayed in the same hotel................not himself this time, stay well mate.

And of cousre to old grandad, who yet again said some lovely, heartfelt things when introducing the final table. These words mean a lot to me.

An exceptional performance from an exceptional gentleman.

Kerr and I were fortunate enough to spend some time in the pubs with you and could not be anything less than impressed, a true gentleman and oh so funny to boot.

Must admit my heart skipped a beat or two when young Kerr lifted you out of your buggy on Friday night and bounded up the stairs to Tighty's sit and go.

Best wishes from us both and hope to meet up again soon. True legend.

Geo.
